While I should follow this advice myself more often, maybe just write something and see how it goes? If it's really wrecking it, delete and pick up where it's still good. If you can make it work, see where it goes and maybe it'll surprise you
Yea, gonna make it work
Time for the first chapter
I already feel what Charlie felt about college.
Hex is kinda my dude, approved.
Parties are good if you're with family members but with strangers, it's a different thing.
I kinda felt that when you pass the test first before your classmates.
When I heard about the word "Warg", my head already formulates that they either looked like Gnolls or Wolves.
Matilda's life seem kinda sad if she ever thinks about those.
Charlie, my boy, you scored big
I had to listen the Another day of sun and turns out, I kinda familiar with it since I only remember little when I was young.
Matilda and Charlie together, I love confessions
To be clear, Matilda is a Warg from Rimworld. That being said, she got the ahort end of the stick big time. As opposed to the Iterators who while questionable try to give purposed organisms the freedom to live however they wish, Wargs were not given a lot of thought. Remember me mentioning Hussars in Rimworld? Take those and essentially make them disposable shock troopers with no context how to live outside of combat and held hostage by their dependency on chocolate
I see, it really took a chunk of my brain to convince that she looked like the ones I mentioned but I haven't seen a warg, still managing the damn colonists
Almost done
Also, Matilda's biological parents were murdered by an asshole because "reasons" and she was adopted into a family of giant sloths and a cougar who have no clue how to handle a super soldier kid. Charlie has the advantage of both a super soldier parent and a regular parent to cope with everything. She just represses it all because that's the only way she knows how to fit in when she's literally built to be a killing machine and nothing else.
The Wargs...don't have it easy
It is depressing to hear that
They didn't even exist thirty years prior. Some really are trying and others are helping, but again they're super soldiers who weren't given ANY choices as opposed to the combat lines in the Rainlands
I could feel that even after the war, there are some people who holds grudge
Done
Or just be assholes for the sake being an asshole
Oh good lord...IT'S PERFECT
Praise be the Dadvulet
That's why it's 2.0 it's a better version in almost every single way
Praise be the coffee
Now as the morning sun rise, praise be the image as we drink coffee :)))
Still, Matilda really does care about her adoptive family and those who she's friends with. She just struggles to live in a world that doesn't entirely accept her and a life she really is not meant for. Charlie understands all of that and has made peace with that fact. And also, I think I'm making them a cute match
Indeed :)))
I'm a sucker for love confessions and you sir, made me giggle while reading
Now, since it worked for Fred, I'm going to assume you now want to watch La La Land because I borrowed a song
Yes
Yep
Well...not this instant but you know what I meant
I kinda familiar with the song because I heard it before since I was young, mostly came from the dvd
So this and a Slugcat are singing and dancing for the full context:
Yee :)))
Making the Wargs a halfway crossbreed between a coyote and a tiger in my setting which makes them stand out even more. Not quite Canninu, not quite Felineko, something in between.
And in a setting where even mixed families have kids specifically one or the other, that stands out
But still looked like Canine and Feline, correct?
Like a mix of both
The issue is in the world of Little Tail Bronx, you can have both parents be different but the kids will be one or the other entirely, not really a mix
The Wargs are the mix and it's jarring
Don't worry, they'll get their place in the sun and during the fighting they will be badasses to the rescue when on the good guy side
Indeed indeed
By that perspective, I could remember that one video about twwh2 vid where it had music of "United we stand, divided we fall" from Two Steps from Hell.
Also...Charlie losing his marbles about being kissed...
Yes, I could hear his thoughts about the kiss
Super soldier genetics don't include that with the package
They don't hold the "understanding what's that" package indeed, they need to update it
A fatal error has occurred, please reboot brain to comprehend sudden random acts of affection
Charlie's brain blue screened
He cannot comprehend, he needs more coffee for that
LOL
Instead of milk for the offspring of two supersoldiers, he need some coffee
Ryan on the other hand, enjoying his time with his mug of stupid
Ruffles during the war: Gets into arguments with Martin over brewing methods and defending the coffee when it's called "stupid"
Ryan four years later: "Who wants a mug of stupid for breakfast?"
Helldivers, cup of liber-tea
The Ackersons, mugs of stupid
We do love liber tea (hiding a sick diss track I heard from the illegal broadcast towers away from democracy officers)
Besides thr grenades...ideas on what flavor "liber-tea" actually is???
Because I could see them actually having a brand literally called that for consumers
The taste of freedom
Actually Fred, what's next or are you taking a break?
Hmm
I'll probably either draw Kelly with his camera or a bunch of Saints
Also question when you will make the first chapter of Sliver of Saints will you publish it immediately or make other chapters first and then publish it?
Write it, edit it, then publish it. May need some extra time to think it through
Then I'll go on to next chapter
Oh alright I was thinking about making a drawing for every Saint and then post the drawing around the same time you post the chapter so that every chapter had an illustration of how the Saint in that chapter looks like
Well...right now I'm actually writing a chapter for Sliver as an Iterator. So, Saint Sliver chapter will come afterwards
Well I could make a drawing of Sliver
She has three purposed organisms of her own
(Realizes the only detailed one right now is Dr Octopus Scavenger as a mechanic...)
I am currently thinking how to make the Sliver drawing be themed around the Ackerson Family universe instead of making it be a normal Sliver drawing so that you could at least put it in Peacetime Photo Collection
Maybe with her purposed organisms but some of her descendants won't have a peaceful time
Obviously, things go well in the end but two of them are in for a rough ride
I'll figure it out. Either start a different photo collection or one massive page of them along with the author note at the end
BTW, I know it's going to be a while till I get to the "main story" but have you looked at the characters? Hannibal is the easiest, what about Malt and Lytra?
I don't know how the purposed organisms look
I mean, I'm still writing so fair. Out of three, only one has specifics written
The other two have only been mentioned as of current writing progress
And I am guessing by the time you write how all three look the chapter would be close to being done
Which means I won't have alot of time to make the drawing if I am gonna stick to my original plan
I'll give notice
(Still finding it funny I made a Dr. Octopus Scavenger without realizing it)
As for why a Scavenger...well I wanted to try something else besides Slugcats
Thanks
Besides "main story" characters, here's a complicated but funny idea. So you know the dogs playing poker picture?
The C-20's playing poker
Gonna need to think how I am gonna fit all the purposed organisms in a single drawing considering I need to make space for Dr Octopus scavenger and 2 more unknown purposed organisms
Sev is gonna instantly lose
She's loosing her shit, Three and Four are goofing around, One just is staring in exasperation, Two and Six are having a staring context with their cards, and Five is just enjoying herself
Two and Six are the only ones that seem to take the game seriously
It would be a funny picture
Also, given what I've said with Sev and the personalities of the others, probably fits pretty well
Yep
The Slugcat who should have the poker face has the ABSOLUTE WORST poker face...
Meeting a contact? No problem. Assassination mission? Just give the details. Interrogation? Have a glass of water and freak them out taking a drink. Poker? Impossible
Playing poker isn't included in Sev's version of the super soldier genetics package
LOL, nope
Four year old farm girl is better at poker than a 26 year old super soldier apex bioweapon
Hannibal watching: This is amusing
Seven's internal thoughts: I will turn you into a pincushion you asshole
To be clear, I do plan to have a scene like that in the "main story." The Taranis crew kids are having fun and finally have someone older than them to just lend a hand while Seven and Hannibal are trying to help. Seven is still going to be stewing in frustration, but she's good at hiding her emotions and she'd care more about the kids than her damaged pride
Nice looking forward to that
(Also, notice I'm specifying it's "Seven" at the time, not "Sev")
Picture is uploaded
Cap, before I'm gonna write Three in Chasing Birds, what would he do in the setting?
Is he exploring new lands or would he followed SRS' orders and in search of a machine god which happens that he stepped into a place which is near to LE?
He would be in Moon and Pebbles' Grounss right?
Assuming FP didn't go bonkers and sink Moon, he'd know the terrain and could be there to help with something or be on break assuming that's a thing in your setting.
Or, he could be in a different area. All C-20's know multiple languages, Three just is better at them. Therefore, he could be clearing out something else entirely.
What's the setting you have in mind?
As Apex and Sitter traversing the trees, they ended up having a shortcut to a gate and solid grounds where there is no water. And the other side filled with remains of the ancients on desert sands. There they found the purposed organism
Desert huh? Well fits with the nations he's familiar with (Heavensong Empire in Wargroove actually is a desert...)
So...Japanese desert setting? It would fit unless he's on one of two island archipelagos (actual Little Tail Bronx Nippon (also Japan) or Wargroove 2 Saffron which is Polynesian-Caribbean hybrid)
Are they hunting a desert purposed organism?
Looking out something that could fit an iterator
Like...the size of a whole ass Iterator???
Uhh...that would be large
Like...a Dune sandworm or something?
Nah, I meant the one who's been living the place
He could see the can from afar, behind the giant trees
Since LE rejected all means of communication
Hmm... Well Three being in the desert could work, probably looking to eliminate an exceptionally dangerous rogue purposed organism or war band
That too, looks like in the future writing I'm gonna put some scavengers fighting over hot sands :)))
A tribal conflict that escalated out of control perhaps?
Tribal disputes
Fighting over a bunch of rocks and destroyed ruins :)))
And Three happens to be in the middle of it and both warring tribes attacked him on sight due to the tensions
Sounds about right...and he's having a crap time assembling an alliance to resolve it
But then a reasonable scug along with a dumbass would do so something mischief
Out of curiosity Anton, you've mentioned a "Terminator" before. I can understand that one hasn't been brought into a story yet and I serious doubt they are a big buff Austrian man saying "I'll be back". But...what's their gig?
As for Fred, any OCs of your own? I know you said you're an artist but just wondering
She'll appear on the other story. Modified by LE to eradicate threat if Apex ever failed to capture nor killing it
So she's the back up plan? She smarter than Apex?
Huh...didn't see that one coming honestly
She ain't a supersoldier :)))
Well if there's been anything a lot of media has shown and my own stuff, sometimes the common individual is all that's needed
(Looks at 2006 show Eureka on how an everyday man becomes the sheriff of a town filled with super scientists and he's the one with actual common sense to solve problems)
Terminator became biomechanical but I'm gonna put that after Chasing Birds
Will she say "I'll be back"?
I don't know but let's see how it goes if I write it
In the meantime, LE is Skynet
Lol, nice
Why do I see him throwing an absolute fit at Alejandro if they were neighbors?
Why's that?
Alejandro is the Mechlord Vampire, using Mechanoids for his work
Battle of Supremacy?
(He also would be providing bionic prosthetics, advanced medicine, help institute reformation, and the such for the giant sloths around the bronze age onwards)
More like a petty competition of "I'm better than you"
That would indeed
Dear god I imagine him throwing tantrums that he saw someone better than him
As for why he would give space age prosthetics to cavemen...
1: He's bored
2: Help rebuild the world better
3: He gets raw resources in return
4: The River Valley sector Iterators down south provide him with the artificial blood he needs so he doesn't need a blood drive to avoid bring lethargic and cranky
So...yes the local Spanish vampire is being a nice guy because he's bored and actually cares about his neighbors
And then when the Rubicon Offensive kicks in, SPANISH WAR MECHS TO THE RESCUE WITH PULSE LASERS IN WWII
LE: My things are better than your copies machines!
Apex: Apex doesn't understand
Alejandro: Yeah yeah, silence stupid
Field command Mechanoid: Why am I caught in between all of this???
He is petty enough to brag about his works
Is it okay that a biome filled with life (even it's filled with something different than natural) and the next place was filled with desert sands
I mean, there are desert oasis'
So long as the change is gradual and you can tell the climate is shifting and not Minecraft levels of "BOOM, NEW BIOME"
About that
Best example I can think of is the gates to and from Grabage
I mean, imagine a place filled with trees, entered the gate and exiting it just only to see Sahara desert
A bit extreme but I can see it being that way if the trees are surrounding a water source
Like thr Nile River?
I mean kinda like the Nile
I don't have OCs because I don't feel like I need one at least not now maybe later I will
Just wondering
So long as there is a valid reason, this can work. Again, having the Minecraft snowfield just suddenly become empty desert is silly
Yeah totally not like that in my mind
Well, so long as the sudden change has an explanation it should be fine
BTW guys, I threw this in the main chat but...remember me mentioning an Iterator becoming an Archotech?
Yes
I'm thinking "Abyssal Void" would be extend his will through Inv...
Or more accurately, Inv would be the most advanced Overseer ever
Slugcat overseer
An eldritch, reality warping, part mischievous, part ABSOLUTELY DEADLY SERIOUS Slugcat that pops in and out of nowhere being the manifestation of a computer god deciding to intervene on something personally...
Sounds interesting I do wonder what Inv does while not being actively controlled by the iterator
The usual perhaps
I'd be having Inv as a manifestation of Abyssal Void
It would be the "impossible to prove but something is undeniably out there" because the local realty warping super computer is doing stuff
Reality is whenever they want :))
For a computer that could reshape the geography and the fabric of space-time...probably
Which now makes you wonder, why is it just sitting there doing nothing 90% of the time?
Way I see it, Abyssal Void along side the other Archotech level AI's agreed to a mostly "hands off approach" and let the world make its own choices
Letting unfold before making a big move?
Some intervention sure, but actual large scale "divine acts"? The whole world better be ending and help is not just needed, it's required
So...Rot outbreak? The containment teams can handle it. Ecosystem collapse? Maybe some assistance to guide the recovery. The whole continent is about to literally blow up? Okay...play time is over, this is serious
That...and quietly keep passing ships from interfering with the planet. Space pirates not welcome here. Historians are allowed to observe but keep their distance, this isn't your story even if you're witnessing it
(Also Anton, yes there is tech to trade with orbital ships. Set up a communications relay and then put a trade beacon down. The trade beacon should be in a storage area and filled with stuff you are good with selling)
(No stuff in radius of beacon, no orbital trading.)
As to why the Iterators are allowed to influence the world more freely...well their less powerful and have a much more pronounced presence. Everyone else instinctually is avoiding the massive reality vibrating super structures around the world. An Iterator just is an artificial waterfall once a week
Want me to clarify anything?
Nah
Although...Fred I have a scene in mind that should be interesting to draw for Sliver
So you know how the game has Survivor floating and in awe of FP after you visit him? Imagine that but Sliver is facing Inv/Abyssal Void and she KNOWS she's the lesser being standing before something incomprehensibly more powerful than she could ever dream of being
In her own puppet chamber no less...
Holy crap I should really invest with research
As dumb as this is going to sound, plain wood can sell surprisingly well to bulk freighters. Have like 2000 wood and sell it and you'll cover expenses easily. Be in a forest and you'll get the wood back in no time
Sliver became an ant as she saw Inv
When I write the scene, I'll share it
A mere insect in the presence of something bigger
MUCH bigger
And it has an owo face for some reason
I pretty much convince that a Chaos God was trapped inside of a particular scug body
Abyssal Void pays some attention to the everyday stuff, but he's not really dealing with that. He's got an entire continent to look over
Av isn't a threat...he's one of the planetary admins
He has the power to observe stuff going on everywhere all at once. Time and space are meaningless to him. He was the Ancients magnum opus, combining the pinnacle of all technologies worldwide. All in the name of breaking the fabric of reality to achieve mass ascension

(Well, mass ascension for the Rainlands. The rest of Alcenta can go fry in the "Cycle")
Oh damn
He, along with other computers of such power know they're something beyond what the world can handle.
Actually no, Alcenta IS THEIR WORLD. Everything is technically a part of them.
that is pretty huge
But they don't want control. They saw what over dominating megalonia has done...they don't want that
Gladly, because they have the means to take over everything if they please
Basically indeed gods
So...these computer gods let the world be itself. Some small scale interference to guide things along, but not like the Iterators who are closer to the common mortals down below
LE is just an ant all along
Alcenta might be their world...but people live in that world and have their own choices, thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears, and lives.
Yes, the Archotechs can play god and make the "perfect world" in their image...but they saw enough of that mindset in their creators. Let this new version of Alcenta be Alcenta. Interfere as administrators when needed, but let the people live their lives
Empathetic or sympathetic?
More like "let nature take its course"
Nothing interferes with mother nature then
We can interfere in wars between chimpanzee and ant colonies, but we don't. Why should we? It's something to observe and it's nature at work
That's not to say the Archotechs see everything on Alcenta as animals. They see people...so let people be people.
Only a so called "divine intervention" would call their interfering?
If needed
It is interesting that there are something higher than the local iterators :)))
If you recall in By the Numbers with Sev's chapter, Sev has actually met some of these "gods" in person
She respects them and what they can do, but she doesn't see them as "gods". Just super powered Iterators
And even with the sheer power of these computers...somethings are more powerful than even the...
Nature, the universe itself, the actions of individuals...
They might be Alcenta itself and everything might be a part of their global LAN system...but the average man on the street is still a person and not a piece of computer code to mess with
But they do have the power to control the time and reality there, right?
It's...complicated
They could Transcend the planet entirely and they kinda did to a degree
But even when time and space are meaningless to them, it's still happening on Alcenta
Oh, and as for why AV is freaking Sliver out...well no one has done what she's about to do. The consequences are immense, the potential outcomes nearly limitless, and she is doing something not even he can do
So...he's interested in what's happening and what will happen
After all...what really does happen when an Iterator becomes a common Slugcat???
Alright, finished the second chapter
Oh boy, highschool life with Kelly after finishing reading Charlie's
Just like in the family, he is mixed with Ryan and Sev
I know the teachers may be harsh but I think that's how Kelly feels about teachers
Ah yes, highschool friends bonding time, I do love the nostalgia of it
Best at photography as his teacher praised him :)))
Matilda dragged Kelly for a talk, which I didn't expect an overseer to pop out
Is Isolated Innovation an iterator?
After reading more, yup they are an iterator
Kelly got hit by the "what do you want", damn never thought the kid I once read questioned of what did he want
Parent talk after that talk, it's always good to have someone tbh
Friends coming over to your house is the most special thing :)))
Kelly finally decided his future, aw yeah :)))
That's all i can muster up after a long day doing nothing and writing
Truthfully, Kelly was difficult to write. That particular teacher is just an asshole who can't be replaced. And yes, the parents rock
I see
Caroline though I think might be one of the more cursed Slugcats because she has hair...
A Slugcat with a spider monkey tail in terms of flexibility and usability, a dog snout, wears clothes on a regular occasion, and has hair...
Half maintenance purposed organism Slugcat, half husky Canninu...good luck trying to draw that alongside Kelly's other friends
I'm good with everything but the hair
And also idk how to draw anthros again
It's been so long
Anyway both stories in the leaps of faith were good
The college life of Charlie's story and Kelly's dealing with his future
Yay
You just made me giggle while reading the part where Charlie can't comprehend what happened :)))
What about board game night?
Heh, the council :))

Every artist that joins this thread must draw Dadvulet
The High Butt Council...two six year olds joining the board game fun with teenagers
:)))
Anyway gonna off for a while, I must continue to smoothen the brain of Apex
I must polish it further until someone slips
You gonna wax it also???
Yes
...
And here I was wondering if he would enjoy fishing with a random stranger and exotic spices for a cooked meal...
He would eat anything
He would prefer both :)))
No favorites?
Well...he definitely would clear the house for the 4th of July...
Indeed :)))
Barbecue sauce? Onions?
Yes
I'm going to assume the answer is "yes" if he had the choice between hot dogs and hamburgers
You can't blame something that has the purpose to eat anything
...Did LE put a black hole into an organic being???
They have like high metabolism for some reason, the only reason that a clone army didn't broke out to find food that LE already prepared a plan for that
Popcorn plants???
Despite LE being heartless, he put something which Apexes can't eat (such as people)
Natural or synthetic, take it or leave it :)))
The Rimworld nutrient paste dispenser
The only way to stop a thousand hungry organism
The dispenser: Turn any and all organic matter into food! Perfectly edible and safe to consume!
The Taranis crew: Add salt, it makes it bearable. (One kid, I've eaten worse)
The Apex horde: FOOD!
Three: All right. ALL RIGHT! Form a line and wait your turn! There's enough for all of you
The armies watching the Apex horde: Should we do something about this?
Sitter: Fantastic... Here we go again with those idiots...
If anything that matters in their life, LE's commands and food
Now speaking of which I must depart since the bed slowly took over me and I can feel the effects of sleepiness
Night to you Cap'n and Fred
Good night
Have a good night
Captain I have an idea for the final chapter of Sliver of Saints do you want to hear it?
Sure
It's Charlie in a library reading a history book which tells him about the same events that we read in previous chapters (except maybe the piano Saint)
Maybe a concert... I was half thinking it ends on a radio broadcast that would be picked up in the main story
Though, I guess I could have them also stop at the Misty Isle a few years after the war. Family is eating out and this guy is playing the piano, no one realizing who is who. Just a pianist playing while waiting for the weather to clear out and some random family eating dinner
Both of the endings seem nice and simple
A good way to end a story as crazy as this one
Probably the crazy thing would be for Ryan the music would be familiar, but he'd have clue as to who was playing it back then. Obviously, the guy playing wouldn't know Ryan at all because he was nowhere near the front
I mean, there have been even stranger stories
A lot of tales from WWII involve pilots who were shooting at each other decades prior only to meet and act like old friends in their 80's. Hell, a BF109 Messerchmmit saved a crippled B-17 bomber and later the pilots met each other
Now...how do I make Elton John Saint in wacky WWII?
I mean you are the writer here not me
Guess I need to listen to a lot more Elton John...more familiar with Billy Joel
That seems familiar, didn't that one plane escorted a flying fortress back to London?
Until it reached the Channel. After that, the Luftwaffe pilot returned home
Yes that one
A Luftwaffe pilot and the Flying Fortress pilot became friends in the end
Unusual friendship
Indeed
Was focusing on Symphonic Harmony tonight, later on in the week I'll continue Saints
Wonder if I should have an entire flowchart for the setting I'm planning the war to be in
Because...two confirmed major theatre's, half of an entire continent in a colonial bush war, and thr other half of that content probably in the midst of different factions backing major powers or using the chaos to settle old scores
Two theatres in the war?
And that's the established nations, never mind the fact secret societies and ancient McGuffins are waking up
I gues...three established theatres
The Bronxon one with the Taranis which I'll focus on (basically, strange Euope), the conflict against Heavsong and its brewing civil war (Pacific), and the Rainlands (Colonial Africa more or less)
North of the Rainlands would be the various countries of the megatherium/giant sloths who I can see getting involved indirectly
So each theatres had different problems from each other
With some connections. Loose ones, but still connected
The Mechanoids in Heavensong would be very interested in dealing with some old enemies and potentially grabbing the Taranis for themselves, the main nations are fighting for politics, land, and ideologic beliefs so they have their own goals and purposes for ancient stuff they don't understand
The Rainlands are mostly following what the empires are saying
Saffron wants independence from Heavensong
Heavensong is split between its Emperor and Empress and wanting to maintain its dominion
The Taranis kids just want their families and homes back
And the purposed organisms are running around trying to keep doomsday stuff from being unburied while fighting the raging inferno called a world war
Yeah...I need a proper doc for this...
That's actually many
Damn
Even tho I have some war fiction in my mind (which isn't rw or related to any fics) and idk how to plan any of it
Broadly speaking, it's the European and Pacific theatres
Just with Colonial Africa thrown in as a sideshow (like what happened in WWI and I don't even know what was going on in the Pacific during that mess...)
Pacific was doing a bit of revolutionaries and huge on imperialism (im talking to you, Japan)
Real world was like that
Huh...borrowing heavily from the real world despite using games as inspiration
Yes
The "Pacific" mess is complicated
I mean, we don't have history which involved ww1 but ww2 was heavy
Heavensong is definitely an empire. It has conquered Nippon and Saffron and has ties to the other two "big bad empires." The Emperor is an actual bastard who is using his new marriage to build his own petty kingdom. The Empress wants her empire to remain pure to itself. The subjugated lands want independence from the entire thing regardless. Some of the military staff are seeing the broader picture and fear the complete destruction of the Empire both abroad and at home. Three, Five, and anyone else sent there are trying to make sure the rebellions go as smoothly as possibly and stop anything else that crops up. AND THEN THE MECHANOIDS SHOW UP AND DECIDE TO START CAUSING MAYHEM ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT
And...I'm not really focusing on that. That's background noise for the Bronxon theatre
Truthfully, the Empress is the lesser of the two evils
She still wants her Empire, but if downsizing means saving it then it'll be done. Still, she wants to keep as much of it as possible
The emperor tho
Fun fact: Remember me mentioning a rocket project and Akari? That's in post-war Heavensong
The one that could get out to space?
Yeah, the Heavensong Emperor is a royal bastard and a right bastard
That's the plan. They're pushing the boundaries of science by then as opposed to map borders
We are now in the 1960's, time for space race
The Imperial Heir, who sat out of the shit show, would be in charge after coming of age and he's much more interested in engineering and diplomacy
He was well aware of the war but...he was sent to a neutral country to avoid the political court and the actual fighting. He knew things were bad, but he was as removed as possible
The advancing technology starts now
Also...I know you guys have looked at Fuga but exactly how much?
Not much
Because the war will be centered around that particular story (and Ruffles will be caught up in it)
Even tho finding a game for the emulator, they don't have those :(((
I'm going to keep that particular spoiler to myself then
But still, do I need to watch yt or going to wiki for it?
Well, I'm juggling a few things around between the games. But YouTube does have videos for everything
For Wargroove 2, the Saffron campaign will give context to a lot of the eastern stuff. For Fuga: Melodies of Steel...start at the beginning (the other Little Tail Bronx games aren't needed but would explain a thing or two. For example, Prairie is the setting for Tail Concerto)
I'm just thinking about one of two "Oh shit..." moments in Fuga 1 in particular that would drive home the sheer level of devastation just brewing under the surface of the war
I think I'm gonna watch for the content
Sure
Also...Fuga 1 chapter 7 boss... BLUTWURST YOU CAN FRY IN THE DEEPEST LAYERS OF RUBICON! MAY ARTIFICER THROW BOMBS AT YOU FOR ALL ETERNITY
Should I start with one
Would give context
Time for me to depart in a great pilgrimage
In search for the context, I must venture into youtube
As for Wargroove 2...nah. The games are loosely connected and that particular story arc isn't related to Wargroove 1
Should I watch Wargroove 2?
For the "Pacific" side story yes
It will be a long ride
For the story involving Hannibal, Seven, the Taranis, and a group of soldiers in over their heads...well mostly Fuga but the Faarhi campaign of Watgroove 2 would give some context into the characters I want
First Fuga
Indeed
I must consume intelligence
Then smoothen Apex's brain even more that their brain would become hydrophobic
Nice
Alright gonna watch some after a League game
Before I'm gonna say anything, is it necessary to watch 20 hour gameplay of it?
And also, how much you know of Armello?
Seen a few games and read the lore a bit
Also, I suppose cutscenes can suffice... Boss battles as well
Or...I could just explain it
I see
So uh...you could watch thr game(s) or I could give you the spoilers as a Spark notes packet...
Which would you prefer?
I think I'm gonna watch the games
Like every jrpg, I either see everyone got their ass kicked or got the most exploited game breaking thing that I have ever seen
A good run in both is 20 hrs each
Third game...well hopefully new trailer next week
I will say this, Fuga is officially a "prequel" series to Tail Concerto and Solatorobo
Tail Concerto is not really that relevant outside of the fact that the Kingdom of Prairie exists (also, Belgium)
Solatorobo on the other hand is more connected...
Watch Fuga 1 first and I'll explain afterwards (make sure you see a golden ending run for that)
Aye cap'n
I just only watched measly ten minutes of it
Despite Armello being like idk, inactive would be the right term, since I'm still waiting for the dragon clan on phone but it didn't came
But Armello mostly based on luck rather than skills
I can see why you would say that for Armello since it plays like an actual board game. Though I see the world more as a D&D styled one
It's a card game with brutal chance of dice rolling
I know
And I tell you this, sometimes a 10% chance would win over 90% chance. Good or bad
XCOM hit percentage rates intensify
And sometimes the rolls are something else
Kelly and his friends at board games scene...
Speaking of that, notice how in Kelly's chapter it was "lizard shit" while Charlie in a different country it was "clucken shit"
Cluckens in Little Tail Bronx effectively being modified chickens
I did notice
Different continents and the such = different terminologies
What would happen if you did live in a different continent?
Me personally?
The change of how you speak
I mostly watched a family member went to something far and the way they speak became different
I could see picking up some phrases and maybe a slight accent depending on how long the stay was
Was it years that Charlie stayed in college?
Currently three years
He also knows multiple languages and casually drafts quantum physics equations on his organic chemistry midterm because he's Charlie Ackerson...
The son of two supersoldiers
Certainly would surpass an inferior being.
-LE probably
Matilda is biologically the same. Again, she just has issues because she grew up in a family of ordinary individuals who have no idea on how to handle a super soldier kid
I felt bad for her
Charlie has another advantage of being allowed to have flexibility in his decision making. He's going to lean heavily into an analytical mindset, confront a problem head on, and the empathy. But he still has the flexibility to stop and think
But do the wargs have those?
Matilda Galmiche on the other hand comes from two soldiers who are built to be nothing but super soldiers with enough free will to think fast and fight hard
So...she's HIGHLY aggressive and always ready for a fight because that's how her parents were built
Like Orks?
I guess???
The guys who made the Wargs during the war weren't really looking for individuals to work with. They were looking for the perfect super soldiers
Follow orders, fights like a demon, doesn't care about getting hit, and has a restriction in place to keep them under control
Ah they have restrictions
The C-20's meanwhile have free will to decide how to do their tasks or even change the mission if the situation demands it, can choose a life outside of programming if they really want it, and have been treated like people regardless of their origins
At the end of the war, they choose to live their life what they want
So, Charlie knows how to handle his everything and a domestic civillian life. Matilda has her entire life as a domestic civilian with no one to help her to understand what being a super soldier means
The Galmiche family is not neglegent or bad, they just don't understand and can't provide the help
Tbh, if you have a child that is born to become a weapon, Idk how to take care of them
So...she just bottles it up and does everything she can to be the quiet, meek girl with little aspirations
Don't get angry because getting angry will make you want to hurt someone
Don't be passionate because passion will get out of hand
Too hard with emotions
Don't speak up because speaking up will make you loose control
She thinks bottling her everything is the best way to handle things because she KNOWS she's a walking bioweapon and that terrifies her
Because she loves the family that took her in. She wants to fit in. She enjoys the life she has.
So...having a friendly guy who just understands it all because that's his life also really does help
It did help that two of them born by supersoldiers from the war
But Matilda had a harder life tho
Remember, Charlie has somewhat of his own identity crisis because he has no clue who Hannibal was. He also knows how hard it is to be the "special gifted one" in the class. And he also knows how hard it is to be someone in a world that he's not really meant for
But he's had Sev to help him with the complications of being a super soldier, Ryan to help cope with being an ordinary person in a mundane setting, and Kelly to help with embracing who he is without it backfiring into his face
The supersoldiers during the war:
The supersoldiers after the war:
And speaking of Kelly...he's a LOT more complicated than the cheerful kid vibe he gives off
Kelly changed man :((
Putting aside the fact he has his own inferiority complex to Charlie, he actually has a lot of Sev in him
Observation, cold calculation, and emotional compartmentalization. He just hides it all behind being a peppy kid
It's as he says, he's the son of both Ryan and Sev
That chapter hits me
And given the emotional melting pot of his home, is it any wonder that he's far sharper than he lets on?
As the saying goes, the family is a mess. BUT...it's their mess and they're okay with it
There are no such thing as a perfect family, an example in the Ackerson
Maybe not a perfect family and it's clear they have issues, but it's a "perfect" life for them
Sev was able to put aside her paranoia, self-loathing, and obsessions of completing assignements to be a parent
Ryan pushes past his PTSD to be a parent and provide the support to a family he loves
Charlie learns how to embrace himself while not letting his emotions and instincts dictate his entire life
And Kelly learns how to have his own life when it is pulled in so many different directions
Is any of that perfect? Hell no
But it's perfect for them
It is sweet that this is the ideal family, full of mess but can manage to love each other
And to be clear, Matilda Galmiche does have a good thing going for her despite the struggle. She has a family, an education, and she has made it through life even with her emotional confusion/frustration. It's far more rocky than Charlie or Kelly, but she has gotten through her life in her own haphazard way
Matilda Swingwire on the other hand has to deal with her three tailed overly-smart idiot of a best friend time to time...
But what's Isolated Innovation business with Kelly?
Ah yes, II
So...Innovation is the Misty Isle local Iterator
His original goal is kinda in his name since he was primarily biological research. He was put on an island to do wild experiments with minimal risk of containment breach
He also helped kickstart civilization on the island because he was bored and wanted a new science project to work on
Fast forward to "present day" and everyone on the island is familiar with him
He provides the best pharmaceuticals, emergency health services, and offers advice to anyone who's specifically asking him
After all, what better source of rationale and reasoning than the multi-millennial old Iterator?
When Charlie left for college, Kelly went to him looking for advice on his own life for a different perspective outside of his parents. In Leaps of Faith, Matilda Swingwire brings him over because she thought he needed to talk to someone again
So...she brings him to a drainage canal that serves as the most improvised psychological clinic ever...
So II acts as a therapist?
When needed
Or provides the best medical services on the island
OR provides some of the best biological research for other Iterators to use
Suns reached out to him because Innovation is at the top of his game when it comes to purposed organism research
Evil LE
II is the scientist who takes every precaution in what he does because that's literally his job. Experimenting with aggressive organisms? Have multi-layered security in place. Is it toxic? Specialized mechanical units that are immune to disease. Containment breach likely? It's on an island so it won't get far.
He planned ahead
Basically...he's the virus lab with as many contingencies as possible
The one who prepared for the consequences
And while he has a great interest in scientific discovery, he has morals. He's not going to conduct vivisections for giggles like how mad scientists are protrayed
He kickstarted civilization on his island because he was bored. He helped guide it to get it going but he's keeping to himself because it's another experiment for him
Watching society rise and fall, petty kingdom wars, economic changes, it's all fascinating to watch for him
Of course, he's also interested in ensuring the survival of said civilization because he doesn't want a repeat of the past where Alcenta went to pot.
The Mountain Lake sector has an invested interest in their civilizations because they see it as stabilizing the region. The Misty Isle is more of a terrarium
I must require wide knowledge for this
Also, while I haven't really delved into this group yet, there's also the River Valley sector
Putting aside one of those Iterators is effectively an AT-AT, they have their own reason to start civilization because they're direct neighbors to Alejandro who is guiding his own civilization
So, it's in the interest of both to have friendly neighboring civilizations even despite geographical boundaries, different methods of guiding civilization, and even means of power projection
The Iterators use the tried and true means of purposed organisms, Alejandro uses Mechanoids and takes a much more proactive approach
So he sets up clinics for bronze age civilizations, advices sanitation measures, helps with infrastructure development, territorial security, and nudges technological development at a steady pace. All of that while providing Mechanoid units to work in conjunction with the Iterators
Really...this side of the world is secretly a lot more guided and manipulated than Bronxon. Bronxon has its own secrets societies established, but that's it
Civilization there is a lot more wild and free. The local super computers there are not interested in messing around with their children unless absolutely necessary since they were involved with some of the worst fighting ages past. Let the Canninu and Felineko do things their way
(Desire to spoil late game Fuga intensifying so much)
That's a lot
So...yeah
Rainlands understand super soldiers, people with advanced weapons and armor, biomechanical people older than history itself, and meddling because that's been the gig since history started
Bronxon meanwhile...was largely left to its own devices with a few warnings slapped on and a whole mess of active military bunkerswith deadly defenses laying about
A normal day in the Rainlands
Oh? You THINK you can steal the power of the ancient past? Killer defensive drones have other ideas about that

Until...technology progressed to the point where nations could overcome those drones. The tech gap might still exist, but massed anti-tank shells can do the job still
The fight against those automatons still on
And yeah, the tech is damaged at that point but even the scraps are useful
And what could be better for an expansionist, militaristic, megalomaniacal, authoritarian regime than having the means of capturing salvaged tech for its growing armies?
The machines in Bronxon are mostly defensive. Stay out of their territory, they'll leave you alone (rare exceptions are exceptions)
The one that rears its ugly face during the Heavensong fiasco and wants to "give the people what they want" is one said exception. The problem with that one in particular is that it's particularly cunning and powerful...and the machines are different
Do the machines compute for outcomes such as risky tactics or a possible pyrrhic victory?
They compute and they are very good at predictions
skynet is upon them
But, organic beings tend to not really act rationally and can do stupid things that work at the worst possible moment
Or you know, self preservation forces enemies to ally against a greater threat
Or even more annoyingly...a bunch of kids armed with Howl's Moving Tank just do spontaneous things and fight using the most unconventional tactics and no grand strategy
Tbh, a tank that reached 50 stories tall could dominate a battlefield
Much like a Jaeger
Bermans invading Gasco: Begin drafting new war strategy to counter the Steel Devil!
Kids aboard tank: Let's go this way instead
Bermans: Send a tank hunting unit!
Berman infantry: It blew right through us and kept going!
Faarhi army liberating Gasco: What the hell is going on down there?
Gasconnian military: I have no idea what is happening but we have an opening. Launch a counter offensive!
Kids: Time to go that way. Oh, the Bermans are changing strategies? Hmm...let's do something else then.
Bermans: HOW HARD IS IT TO FIND A GIANT TANK THE SIZE OF A WAREHOUSE?! WE HAVE THE BEST MILITARY IN THE WORLD! WHAT EVEN IS THE DEVIL DOING?! WHAT IS THAT STRATEGY?! AAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Hannibal and Seven chasing after this: For a giant tank the size of a warehouse, it really does move fast... Maybe we should try to get in front of it rather than chase it...
Yes but if you think that's convenient, just look at the Blaster Master games. NES and modern remakes... I swear Sophia is an even more absurd tank than the Taranis
Another absurdly large tank
And speaking of the NES games, Fred...why the hell do you have nuclear crap in your backyard and why does said nuclear crap lead to a Hollow Earth tunnel system with a tank sitting in there????
No, a reasonably size vehicle actually. It's what it can do that makes it absurd
Aight lemme search it
If it helps, some versions might be "Sophia the Third" or "Sophia III"
The Zero games have multiple with "Sophia Zero," "G Sophia," and "Sophia SV"...mostly because trilogy needs the same vehicle to get remodeled and convenient excuse to get rid of upgrades from prior game
(Also FredRo, that wasn't directed at you. Blaster Master's main protagonist is literally named "Fred")
Highly mobile vehicle, a tank greatest fear
Yeah, one that can turn into a submarine, space ship, climb walls like Spider-Man, charge a super laser, contains missile batteries, and go through breaks in the fabric of space-time no problem
dear god
The Taranis: A convenient super weapon in a cave in the woods with enough artillery to win WWII by itself under the control of a bunch of kids with the average age of 8
Sophia at the end of the Zero Trilogy: Can fly, go through space-time reality warping anomalies, has enough firepower to take on an interdimensional army, has a replenishing energy system, and is controlled by one guy and a the scout drone that is a frog who serves as teleportation unit
I am NOT making any of that up. The games are that silly
Now then...what's more confusing?
It is too silly to destroy worlds
Sophia or the interconnected plot line I have for Alcenta???
Both
LOL
They are too silly I must say
Which could be the potential downfall of civilizations and empires alike
So uh...once upon a time before I solidified what I wanted I was thinking of having Blaster Master mash with Fuga
Instead...I'm here in Rain World
Strange huh?
Indeed
And here I thought I will be finishing my Armello story
Instead rain world too
Should get on Saints of Sliver and keep writing Harmonic Symphony
Sooner I get Harmonic Symphony done (in good quality let's hope), the sooner I can get to the the war that connects a lot of loose threads together
Mostly because I want one mega project finished before starting another
It is better to finish the first one
Yup
So, Symphonic Harmony with Saints as a side, hopefully Fuga 3 will be out by then and give me the final details on that trilogy, then get my crazy story going
Hopefully with other family fluff stories on the side as well
Side story with the other family members?
Maybe
Was thinking of Three and his family coming to visit for a oneshot
Might be simpler to just make a compilation of one shots rather than each individual one as a singular story...
A compilation would do
Probably would start with the Kelly one shot then
But, I'll get Saints done before I jump to Kelly
If I'm going to divide my attention, might as well have one side project from Harmonic Symphony rather than twenty side ones
First your big ones then start with SoS
Brain...STOP GOING BONKERS AND FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED
Out of curiosity since I keep mentioning it, despite not being Rain World have either of you looked at "A Harmonic Symphony"?
Too many fics I've been reading
Fair
In the meantime, I do have a non-existent story in my mind and the lore was so big I didn't write it and changed it by time to time
That's...mostly been the war story actually. Somewhat written down but I'm pretty sure it's going to different in a few months
Imagine this, a Roman empire tryna conquer a big empire filled with people that are American, British and Russian that they lost due to gunpowder weapons and so they decided to invade a little kingdom. But that little kingdom had a friend which is an empire filled with beastmen that could tear a man with their teeth. And so that Roman empire called their god to make a warrior which has the power to slay the gods and so they did manage to conquer most of the lands
That seems interesting.
But the lore is ever changing and I didn't bother to write it
(Wait...just remembered. "Fred" in Blaster Master is the frog and Jason is the main protagonist! GAH! MY BAD!)
Well...the main story for me has gone through multiple editions. I'll settle on something when I sit down to write it
Alright, list of ongoing story:
Chasing Birds
The armello story I mentioned
A literal wolf in sheep's clothing story
Well, if you start any of the others I'll take a look
But idk, I'm afraid of my armello story because it's my writing without proofread
And it's mostly bl
I self edit everything. Frankly, me running stuff by you for your characters is the exception
I typically give a chapter of Symphonic Harmony three proofreads. Two before I upload and one before I hit the post button
That may not work for you, I understand
It's umm a hobby yeah
But take a moment, read it a few times, and upload when you feel like it's good. This is fan fiction after all so errors and mistakes are not going to be judged too harshly
Again, made the mistake of thinking Jason was Fred. Fred in the NES game was the pet frog that jumped onto nuclear material. In Zero, he was the drone that looked like a frog with teleportation powers. Jason is the guy driving Sophia
...Unless you secretly are a frog and have teleportation powers...
Which would be...something...
Teleporting frogcat going to now be athing that becomes a mod????
No one said that I can't be a frog with transportation powers
Nice
All of that nonsense aside, what's the next drawing?
Or are you taking a break?
I'll probably draw Kelly but right now I am too sleepy to start drawing so I am taking a break
Fair enough, just was wondering
Though...C-20's playing poker would be funny to witness
Do you know what I'm referencing?
No I think
Well, apparently this is the first painting:
Had no idea there were multiple honestly...
There's 18 different pictures...good lord
Dem, playing poker in the past is wild
You know what's the worst thing waking up at 4 am?
A low battery phone
...Okay then...
I never thought typing my phone through 12 am would fall on my face
Womp
Out of curiosity since I've mentioned the Heavonsong theater despite not really going to write that story: Should I bring out an outline of events for that?
Been in a Far-East mood these days as I replay Total War Shogun 2 Fall of the Samarai
Depends on you man
Probably should stop getting distracted
Right...continue writing Saints and figure out what the personality of the Arbalest
Int terms of combat lines, he's actually going to be simple for the sake of my head. His personality however...that I need to figure out
Want to talk about his personality?
I'm seeing him as a weapon/armor smith
Integrated with the city guard but works on custom gear
Probably gives the intricate and well built things to nobles and those he trusts...
Does he talks a lot?
Considering he's in the city guard, yeah
I'm seeing a loud, commanding voice. This guy is in charge and you know it
Not in the sense of One though
He's in the field so he's more tactical than strategic
So...field officer more like it...NCO???
I'll figure it out
I still don't know what's the difference of strategy and tactic
Strategy is large scale, tactics are small
Ah I see
Strategy you would be getting the answer to a math problem but no idea how what thebwork was
Tactics would be the work but no grand answer
So is sending a mob into a slaughter a strategy?
Not really...probably bad example
Okay, war terms
Strategy would be the massive scale. You're looking at the theatre itself, continent sized conflict
Tactics would be individual battles that wouldn't be seen on the map
Got it
Of course, the real means of winning is logistics but that's out of the scope of what I'm talking about
Truthfully, this guy is more like Four than anything else
Big guy working in the armoury
Works with the local civil defense, partially involved in the politics, strong and stocky but not gigantic in height, maybe less physically destructive but definitely leagues ahead of the common man. He definitely would be granted a matchlock musket in addition to a crossbow
Both in the fact he's that damn good and he's one of the messengers from the "gods"
Space marine like
Iron age marine?
Renaissance considering the matchlocks?
Like, I see the muskets due to the fure bush plants but in terms of culture either medieval or somewhere in the late iron age...
Warhammer fantasy
I guess?
I mean I kinda imagine him like a kislevite Tzar guard
I'll have to look that up
But they only carry flintlocks tho
:)))
Oooh
Those were the first guns ever
Yeah, fire lances are probably the best description
So...these would be the best weapons around outside of purposed organism equipment
All derived from a tough plant that survives the rains, can make grenades, and is fairly common
I mean, Moon does admit that the grenades and explosive spears use the cherrybomb plant. Might as well take it a step further
And the plant is waterproof to survive humid areas
Though now I have to wonder how do the grenades and spears work? Moon's dialog doesn't provide much info unless Slugcat has a Bic lighter on hand
Flammable yes, but I don't recall flammability meaning explosive due to concussion force
You can smack gasoline with a sledgehammer all day, it's not lighting on fire...
Guess main chat will help
Seems like everyone is busy today
The learning never stops. Always something new to learn
Even tho finals already finished
We still got some class to catch up
Oh how I love freshman college
Oh well. At least you have a mug of stupid to start the day
Also Anton, how many Slugcats are you managing to rope in? Seems like you've become the local friendly OC crossover guy
I think Three would do
But idk if I can put some in the story
I'm gonna post the 4th chapter after proofreading by cy so I can edit some wrong grammars (worst enemy)
Well, I saw you mentioned other characters so I'm just wondering
I just made Apex said like they had a weird scug friend in the desert
Wait, just realized it was just me. Chat is so rapid fire that I thought you had another OC in
They are talking about the story cy made
It was about an iterator who reset themselves so many times
And talk about paranoia, it's real
Hmm
Well, still plan to share the AV/Inv scene when I write it even if first draft. Want opinions
So it's about Inv entering Sliver's chamber, correct?
Inv just appears inside
Like teleporting inside the chamber kinda way?
The classic "no one was sitting in the chair until the camera pans past the character"
Like moving your eyes that it wasn't there and moving back to that certain view, you see them?
One moment there's just Sliver, the next Inv is standing like there's gravity when the gravity is off
In the blink of an eye
Appearing in thin air, this creature is indeed an eldritch horror
Except...there's still nothing "there". It's a projected hallucination
Oh crap
So...really you're talking to a hallucination that is very much real.
AV is not there and he's everywhere
Getting into Sliver's mind and talking to her some high incomprehensible words
He's pulling the eldritch terror because he's having some fun but he really can be an eldritch terror
And so Sliver became self aware due to the events happened
Sliver would be more spooked that he's just "there" talking to her, not because of the eldritch projection itself. She knows it's him being immature, but it's scary because it's Abyssal Void himself
The high computer
For some clearer explanations, imagine talking to a class clown who is being a goofball. They would be annoying or immature. But you know they are God. That's the level of "oh shit" that's going through Sliver
...and now I'm remembering a scene from a 90's children's book series I read years ago
Book series was Animorphs, good series
Kids fighting alien invaders by transforming into animals, have essentially an alien space god assisting them, he interrupts a play of the Lion King and presents himself as a six year old girl as time and space are frozen
They know it's him because they've met before but it's still a tad ridiculous because "dude, you're giving us a task of high stakes and showing us secrets of the universe as a little girl. We're struggling to take you seriously right now"
Tbh, I would be flabbergasted if a six year old girl telling me that the world is ending
And giving me powers to became an animal to fend off against aliens
The kids have been fighting for several books. I was giving context for one scene in one book. Again, the kids met this guy before
Point is, AV shows up and acts silly because he can. Sliver is nervous because this is THE Iterator among Iterators
AV isn't malicious or necessarily threatening here. It's that he's AV that makes him scary and he'll tone it down because as goofy as he's acting, he's not aiming to be feared here
But AV can seriously delete anyone in their existence?
Something like that...
Time and space are meaningless to him and in a way, he is the Rainlands
This entire part of the continent is his domain and technically a part of him. The computer nanites in the air and soil ARE AV and since those are in all organic matter here...
So he does control everything and can see everything
Since there are technology that are small enough to be his eyes and ears
But question, does he look after what's out there?
Like in LoL, a space dragon fending off against the Void that will consume worlds and Runeterra happened to be special
Hell, you could walk up to him in person if you can stomach his defensive measures and you could have a pleasant afternoon chat with him
So there's two broad categories he's defending against. The first is other Archotech level machines that are FAR less friendly or stable
This does have Rimworld logic built in and there are a lot of Archotechs that hate for the sake of hatred
So, those are not allowed in nor are other aggressive human ships. A bulk freighter can go on its way and a historian can chronicle what's going on on Alcenta, but they can't interfere
The other category is the leftover crap from before still sitting around in bunkers
Does he knows what's out there
WMDs, specialized purposed organisms, drones, and other stuff that was tailor built to avoid detection by military grade AI surveillance
Example, the Taranis itself
Does he considered the Taranis as a threat?
A possible one, but that one he knows where it's located due to working with other computers like him and the Taranis has the potential to be a shield rather than a sword
But other things are an issue and any large changes would cause more harm than good
So rather than nuke a house to clear out a roach infestation, send in the purposed organisms and specialists to clean house
It's the things and PEOPLE that these machines can't see that make them uneasy the most
As Hannibal would put it, man can kill gods, is more cruel than demons, unyielding than nature, and can bend reality to his will
Yeah if you put it like that
Man built the Archotechs. Man built the weapons of war strewn about Alcenta. Man destroyed Alcenta. And the new versions of man is poking through the ruins
An unstoppable force that would become the world's reckoning
Of course, AV could just warp reality to fix this problem but...then it wouldn't be Alcenta and there wouldn't be anyone there
So...he makes Deus Ex Machina's happen
Let the world destroy itself?
Hopefully not. More like make miracles or impossible things happen for the best results
Why would a tank that has been inactive for thousands of years just suddenly wake up?
A purpose was made
Complete with software package to work with a local culture that wasn't around when it was deactivated?
It was conveniently placed at the convenient time
Truthfully, the kids weren't supposed to find the tank. A retreating army unit was supposed to get it but they were too busy falling back and getting attacked
So...the the unintended accident becomes plan B
But hey, it did turn the tides of war because of it
Now let's go back to AV for a moment
Does AV told something to Sliver as Inv?
More like he was curious as to what she was planning
And that he insists that she makes her own decisions
And so the start of Sliver as a scug began
More like he gives her the confidence to go through with it. Again, this is something that up until that point never happened before
She's afraid to take the leap because it never happened and what if she's selfish? What would the others think? Is this even something that can be done?
AV shows up because he noticed this tiny thing in the background and thought "oh that's interesting, let's take a look"
Like a therapy?
Again, for as god-like AV and the other Archotechs are and no matter how much Alcenta is their world, the people living on Alcenta still have free will
That's a good thing and yet somehow kinda in the balance and stuff
Think of it like Alcenta is a gigantic fishtank
The Archotechs are are in control over the fish tank. Water levels, PH levels, temperature, decorations, what kind of fish, cleaning, etc.
Maintenance is key and looking after is really essential
They could micromanage everything to perfection but they let the fish do what they want and step in when needed
And AV took form of Inv to talk to Sliver?
Basically though he can take whatever form he wants
I'm just using Inv because as much of a joke as the character is everyone loves the stinker. Might as well include Inv in a way that actually makes sense and avoids thr typical trappings of Inv being Inv
Inv is a multidimensional scug
And soon I'm gonna make like a crack fic about them soon
Also, if you bought the "Ideology" DLC for Rimworld there is a quest for an ending that kinda goes into depth on how powerful Archotechs are
Even dormant these things are powerful
Hear things without your ears, feel without touch, smell without smell, even standing nearby makes you uneasy.
The structure is impossibly smooth and seems to be curved despite being perfectly flat
I'm still stuck on the part where I have to look after them then somehow a pack of killer rabbits managed to kill a colonist
You can change the Storyteller AI and difficulty setting in the options. All else fails, new colony?
Oh boy, rng is the challenge maker
Though if you think this is bad, Dwarf Fortress has a vertical plane and its UI is like Excel functions. Also, it's tagline is "Losing is fun"
I've seen a gameplay of it
I don't understand what I'm looking at
Yeah the interface is messy
Concept is interesting and the vertical plane is cool but I'd like to play the game and learn as I go, not spend half my time figuring out what the bleep a button does
Now that's my current problem in rimworld, idk wtf am I pressing but it somehow made it work and worse
Like idk what does planning do but I accidently thought it would grow some crops
And the rice sometimes can't be stored
Planning is drawing down a blueprint. You want to build a new structure or a pasture in the future in that spot. So you put down plans to remind yourself of the dimensions and location on where you want it
There's also two broad storage stockpiles
In practice they work the same but are preselected for function
So if rive is being left out, select the storage zone or bench and go into the settings. You can search for "rice" and toggle it on and deselect all other options
So I should create another storage space?
As for growing crops, that's a growing zone specifically. There are toggles under the speed in the bottom right to select fertility for the soil
I do see those
You can do that. But if you have a freezer you can make the storage specific for raw/cooked food. A storage shelf works the same way and can hold more items per tile (also prevents items from being "outdoors" even if it is outside, don't question it)
I see
I should learn more and grasp at the basics
I was a fool to put them in the dense jungle
The storage stockpiles are more of immediate presets that are broad, fast, and dirty. You want specifics? Customize to your hearts content
For example, store animal corpses in a freezer to avoid spoilage while have human ones set away to avoid ugly scenes and breathing in rotten gasses
Well, you can draft someone and manually tell them
Just like that?
Another option is to setup a stockpile zone specifically for dead "human corpses"
If the person is slated for hauling, you can even select them and right click on the item to haul
Though drafting does give more direct control
Gonna do that soon
Also, I do recommend temperate forest biome to get a grasp on things. Even with the weather, there's plenty of decent resources and food to be scavenged. The animals can be dealt with by avoiding them or an occasional hunting party. And wood can be used for so much stuff
Solar eclipse shutdown your cooling during a heatwave? Build passive coolers and set up fueled stoves to cook
Diseases are also less frequent than Rainforests
Batteries are a decent early tech if you go with the standard "Crashland" scenario so you can store power reliably. If you can keep an alternative going such as a wood furnace, that can also work short-term
What? They can't handle a mosquito bite? :)))
Traders and visitors can also sell decent stuff. Look for your best warden and have them do the trading for better prices
I did once trade wood and getting some steel for 400 silver
Steel I'd say is more important to hold onto. If you can harvest trees, do that instead (also remove the stumps for an extra log. It works surprisingly well)
I see, like cult of the lamb
But if I ask, what happens if I did disturb an ancient site?
STAY AWAY UNTIL YOU'RE WELL EQUIPPED
I was trying to get some materials on a closed off ruin and something stopped my colonists
Those are the bunkers. They can hold anything from a free rocket launcher to active mechanoids
You're saying it could slaughter my five tribal colonists who only equipped with spears and bows?
Yes, the possibility is very high
You can walk past it no problem. Breach the vault and you may unleash something inside
If it is Mechanoids then know your foes
Lancers, Pikemen, and Centipedes are ranged menaces but bad close quarters fighters. Scythers will make hamburger meat out of you in melee so shoot them with everything you've got before they can close the distance.
If it's bugs, attack from range and have your best melee on hand if they get close
Actually Fred I know you're probably entertained by all this but I can't help but feel like we're excluding you
And yeah, we wanted to hear about your art shenanigans
Because it's been so long we haven't heard about you
And you can join in on the talks. If anything, please do. I don't want to excluse anyone
Questions about the stories, character descriptions, need references, anything
And the coffee cult, we do love having coffee
It's very nice to hear that you guys care about me truly but the thing is most of the time when you guys talk to each other you talk about a subject that I don't know very well so I don't have anything to add to the conversation
Sometimes crazy ideas can be put up with :)))
Sorry about that
No need apologize
And possibly, maybe some ideas that unrelated can be take part
Idk where I got that source but I just made that up
I mean, I wouldn't mind suggestions on what you want to see next. I am thinking a story for Sev when she's still struggling with being a parent
Though Saints first, then Kelly
It's a good idea to set your priorities straight and finish them and only then figure out what to do next
I mean, I'm thinking Sev has an emergency bunker under the house with a long range radio and a secret backdoor exit
Ryan would know about it, the kids have no idea
Food, water, locks, maybe a set of her quills left over for self defense...
I imagine the switch to open the bunker door is hidden inside a bookshelf
Sev was a black ops soldier, she has seen some pretty nasty stuff even in regular civilization
This wouldn't be the paranoia of Two. More like the emergency safehouse "just in case" situation
After all, Sev is good but leaks can happen and no one is perfect
Also, she does need some way to stay informed about what is going on...
Can't exactly up and leave the house to bug Innovation when you have a three year old at home. Getting out in the middle of the night also wouldn't be the best solution. What if Ryan has an episode or Charlie gets a nightmare???
That would be actually harder to maintain
Unless the secret safe house bunker is a bit...extreme
Anyway, have either of you looked at the other games to get an idea on the art for other chsracters?
Like, Kelly with his friends or Charlie in college?
I have nothing played but LoL all day
This is just making me think Soldier from TF2 saying "I've done nothing but teleport bread for three days" somehow
With the power of determination (but mostly coffee) you can overcome the odds
I do love teleporting bread
In my case it's only with the power of determination because I am not allowed to drink coffee
Could do the scene where Four walks in to the High Butt Council sentencing...
I can try after I am done with Kelly
The power of determination is stronger than you think :)))
Actually speaking of Kelly what specs does his camera have
The Polaroid one
I was thinking those that snap open with a button and instantly print a picture
So...travel size???
I want to know the resolution of the photos it takes (it will be very useful in my drawing trust me)
Like this thing: https://images.app.goo.gl/1RdcqosCbqxe94jE7
Sorry if that's not the most help. I'm not really a photographer. I just made Kelly one because he inherited the SRS line habit of random hobbies
I'll see if I can't get some better info later
In the meantime, Anton I know it's absurdly late for you so I won't flood your phone with nonsense. Fred, you probably have your own stuff you're doing so I'll leave you to it
It's 11:53
I'm gonna waste the excessive coffee by typing my armello story
It's been half a year I haven't been writing
Actually Anton, this had crossed my mind a few times. Maybe have Rain World characters interacting with the Armello court? Mercenaries or even another clan perhaps?
I haven't done this because I don't have Armello and I'm busy with other things...
I mean, we can easily have Artificer being the scarred and foul mouthed mercenary for hire...
That actually works pretty well
But the Bandit Clan in Armello aren't bandits but rather rebels against the king
Convincing the people to stand up against the infected king and end his reign once and for all
Wonder what Spearmaster in such a setting would be like...
Frankenstein's monster on the loose???
In the Armello setting?
Yeah
She would be considered as an abomination or wrongfully accused of being a creature of the Rot
And people or the Inquisition wouldn't like that
Well, this doesn't necessarily have to be Sev we're talking about.
I meant Spearmaster in general
I see
They would be chased around by an angry mob
Mostly filled with torches and pitchforks
No painting allowed! Can't you read the sign?!
And Spear is purple
Purple in Armello is already a symbol of corruption or being part with the dragon clan
Well if anyone is corrupted besides Fang and the King, it'll definitely be Hunter
Aw man, Hunter being Fang Greymane
Unless this is a setting where Hunter isn't cursed by Rot goo
The Rot is like a cloud or a dust somehow, maybe Rot wine would do or having spells or holding items
Well, you're free to make you own spins on the characters. Just a few suggestions since Atmello is an interesting setting and so is Rain World
Armello is great by places but I hope it isn't random generated since there are many names and places
And idk how to fix it into a map
I mean I have one but ongoing
I mean, I flipped the Fishstick ship on its head somewhat. Spearmaster is a mom in my setting, Rivulet is far more mellow and calm, and the two of them actually have kids
Seeing a calm rivulet hits different
I always thought of them as no thought head empty wet rat which has the potential to be filled with horrors and ptsd somehow
Well the PTSD part is correct. I just wanted Rivulet to be different than pure overly cheerful chaos
The wet rat I always seen in media was filled with drugs and happiness
And the other riv (Ryan) is rather a calm and reasonable fellow that could talk about jokes and coping with trauma
...Well caffeine is a drug and Ryan does aim to be a peppy guy...
Caffeine is not stronger than what they interpret
I would hope not
Though...I do have a bit of a spin idea on the "Wet Mouse is rapidly approaching your position"
"Mr. President, a wet mouse is moving to your location at fast pace."
More like that exact line but Corporal Ruffles is charging with a bayonet fixed rifle
Good...morning I think????
Just read Chasing Birds chapter and left a comment. I think I know who the "friend" is
Well, broadly speaking he looks like a red lizard I a Slugcat body
The way imagine, a lizard-like head but still distinctly Slugcat, the long thin tail, some armor plating meant for shrapnel defense, maybe some extra muscle, and he's somewhat fuzzy. Not Saint levels of fuzzy but definitely fuzzy. Fur coloring is red and orange. He stands out physically as much as he does personality wise...and as much as he blows stuff up in combat
Everything about him is either flamboyant or screams shock and awe. Either the life of the party with food, drinks, and a karaoke set, or the tip of the spear punching through a line and prying it open through rapid overwhelming force
Or...you know, he's playing a violin or a guitar (actually have a scene in mind of him playing a guitar... Music is his passion, no one said he had to be limited to just the violin even if he owns one personally)
Like a party dude?
Not quite. He'll liven the place up, but he's not a party animal either. Three is just..."loud" due to his color scheme, combat style, and his enthusiasm
I can understand that isn't matching his chapter since he was having a midlife crisis due to realizing he had Akari.
The two best descriptions I've got are the guy who brings pizza to a college party night or that uncle who makes dinner interesting with his antics. Not disruptive, rude, or weird, but...flamboyant really is the best description
And his abilities are the same with Artificer, correct?
I don't think he can explosively propel himself like Arti can or do an explosive parry
Hm, that is a good point
Anyways, how's the day Fred?
Me too
I wouldnt say its bad but I wouldnt say its good either
The middle is a virtue for it's not too much or not too less
And also not working after finishing the 4th chapter
How's the art?
I am taking it slow like I did with Dadvulet Tho right now I am not in the mood to draw
He can spit explosive mucus
The coffee way
Understandable, though I still love that photo
I am glad you guys liked that drawing I hope I can do as good of a job with Kelly as I did with Dadvulet
