With luck probably yes
Most conflicts in the Rainlands are tribal conflicts
Violent and nasty, but can be resolved fast and most dangerous things contained with the combat units sent as SCP MTF
Abroad however... There's plenty of secret societies but it basically boils down to "don't go in the cave where the demon resides in"
Until the "modern age" that is
Well now I know what I will put my spare points into
And the demons are like ancient machines?
Said demons are a lot less scary when you've got tanks, artillery, and shoulder mounted AT at your disposal. Then they become just machines to scrap, study, and reverse engineer
Some are biomechincal also but yeah, a lot of machines
I see
So...when you don't have manipulative sky calculators to direct the course of fate on a different continent, you get less control
But mostly the machine gods are the one who control things around the Rainlands
The Iterators run the show in the Rainlands (still need a continet name), Alejandro is just north of them with his Mechanoids, and maybe some old bunkers are keeping localized cults but yeah...
Outside of those areas it's the standard rise of civilization with a few recognized places to stay out of
Well, more than a few but you know what I mean
Too many nations?
Let's see...
Most of the war I will be showing will be centered on the continent of "Bronxon" (because Little Tail BRONX, yes I'm hilarious)
Since I started this because of Fuga, it will heavily focus on the conflict between the Free Lands of Gasco and its allies against the Berman and Tsarland empires
Man, if I ask, where can I find Fuga?
Anywhere really
Steam, PS, Switch, XBOX
Both games are $40 each and the DLC is not worth it my opinion
I gotta need more context than I thought
Funny enough, the rarest DS game was set in the same universe. Released in 2010/11
Anyway, the games have HEAVY WWII influences
A ds game?
I mean the Berman Empire is filled with dobermans with a far right attitude (and that's enough politics, moving on)
Solatorobo
Does it have an emulator?
IDK
Crazy to think the first game in this series also started in 1998 as a kid platformer on the PS1
Yeah, Little Tail Bronx has been all over the place
Didn't know it started so far back
Imma search it up tomorrow
Berman
Yup
It gets even more obvious the moment you play it
For the record, Tsarland is not in the game (though with Fuga 3 supposedly getting an info update July 4th...who knows? Foresight?)
I do plan to have a third empire in the "villian" category, but that's a different front
But for the sake of context, they are Heavensong
Who is in the midst of an internal royal family dispute, social revolution, colonial unrest, some Archotech-wannabe-Mechanoids popping up, and having an explosive red lizard slugcat trying to organize everything
Poor three
Even tho I only read by the numbers, I may never know what it truly happened
Trying to prevent a civil war, organize a number of colonial rebellions, help end a world War, AND deal with a crazy killer robot trying to take over the world Emperor Palpatine style
At least Five is helping him out
Helps when you have a dissatisfied Empress, her loyal admiral, and a number of revolutionaries on your side
Good thing not everyone has the same mindset as the crazy conqueror
But the main show story-wise is going to be a bunch of kids in Howl's Moving Tank, a soldier looking to find her place in the world, and a Slugcat trying to make the most of what little time he has left
Looking forward to it
Yeah
It's always a daily reminder now of life when I stepped first into that place
I'm resting, don't worry
Though, I would like to finish Symphonic Harmony just to clear my work space
Drinking coffee now would be a daily reminder that we have the power of Dadvulet
Despite it is 11 pm, I crave coffee
Everyone needs coffee in their life
We now praise dadvulet due to coffee
True
...Did I start a cult????
Yes
...
Question is it a coffee cult or a dadvulet cult
Every little thing I see is part of indoctrination
Even tho eating grass is somehow worse than cannibalism
I'm sorry what now?
Sorry, just a cult of the lamb thing
Grass isn't very nutritious
Why do I have the feeling you would LOVE the Ideology DLC for Rimworld?
And to answer that, I have been tempting to pick cannibalism
It's now the way of life after that game
Yup...Rimworld
But I cannot since I'm still a beginner who is trying to learn the ropes
And the damn animals revolting against me
Either it's make a highly exotic city or be the worst war criminal in the unviverse
What's next? Nudist, slaving, cannibals? (Which is in your power to do)
Fireplaces and heaters
Nudist is a curse in disguise
And clothes isn't that much of a problem I am sure
It's rimworld :))
Yup basically
Oh crap
Despite I've finished all of the exam, a teacher told us to retake another
Due to "leakages of answer"
And now retaking an exam is mandatory
Rip
Gotta sleep now
And this is the reason why we don't cheat on tests kids, because stuff like that happens
Anyway, I'm gonna find some ideas
And also, what is the next work you gonna write?
Well, Saints of Sliver I'll get a start on soon enough while I keep Symphonic Harmony going (need to finish that eventually)
Aight
In the meantime, pretty sure you'll enjoy Leaps of Faith
Since I have finished the by the numbers, I'll give it a read and some comments on the chapter
Anyway good day or good night
Enjoy and have a good night
Good night to you too
So Fred...which chapter do you think he's going to enjoy more?
Surprisingly, that was difficult to write
I see why
Probably will need more oneshots in the future
You could put all of the oneshots in the same work instead of making them all separate
If you are planning to make a big number of them of course
Well, Saints of Sliver is honestly going to be structured a lot like By the Numbers with different characters and over periods of time
Just over the course of centuries and not in one singular house
Makes sense since I doubt you would be able to properly write every story as a one-shot
You know, in a bit of a way I'm a bit anxious for how to present Seven during the war...
It's definitely going to be a case of whiplash for how...ruthless she used to be
I am sure it will turn out great
Yeah but it's going to be jarring for sure. Anyone who has read Ackerson Famil is going to know who she becomes
But during the fighting she's going to be cold and effective. Black ops soldier and all that
Not heartless, but definitely not the parent who cooks eggs in the morning
Truly shows how much she has changed
I never thought of her as a one dimensional character
Just pleased with myself is all. So easy to fall into the trap of making "kill everything" soldier types
And while she definitely does fit the "mission at any cost" type, also glad I didn't make her a COD Vanguard character (never played it but I've seen enough and the Wikipedia page doesn't inspire any better thoughts)
Honestly I kinda forgot that that game exists
Seriously, that franchise needs a cool off period
Yeah, I've played games that are similar to prior installments but not every single year and they usually shake things up or don't overstay their welcome
I mean, Fuga 2 plays a lot like Fuga 1 and I enjoyed...
Anyway, characters!
Fuga 3 will probably play a lot like Fuga 2 which plays a lot like Fuga 1
Oh I'm expecting it. But the characters will show more development, the combat tweaked a bit, enemy designs changed, and thr story is going to be the big point for me
I also play Monster Hunter and enjoy a few rounds of Mario Kart, both franchises built on repetition
Well you definitely have better repetition tolerance than I do
I just listened to "What could have been", already thinking most possibilities during the song
Like what?
I'm willing to bet one of the biggest would be what if Hannibal survived
Yes
That's the one plagued my mind officer
That's the possibility after listening to that music again
Forgive me for being a bit evil but...that's one of the things that I'm not really going to explore. I know people love their "fix-it" stories but we can see here that even with a bumpy road, Sev is happy with Ryan. The kids are also happy with everything going for them, troubled emotions and instincts included.
I'll admit, it is a great "what if?" question. But for this setting, I'm more satisfied with what I've got.
Though, I wouldn't mind seeing a true Spearmaster/Hunter ("Spearhunter?) relationship
Yea but that's a what if situation
Because of this https://youtu.be/liPu1_aPH5k?si=p2_-OLhcMyk3YFZv
It messed me up big time
But the current situation Sev got in was good now
Never thought I had so many free time but I didn't read or doing anything productive
Anyway, I know I said I would focus on Saints of Sliver but I've got some more Ackerson Family ideas for oneshots
Either I give Kelly his own story for a day or I give Sev one, specifically when she's still figuring out ehat retirement is aa Seven
If I ask, is Charlie the main character of Leaps of Faith?
Yes and no
So the two chapters are for the half-brothers?
Yep
I see
I think giving Kelly the spotlight
But that's my opinion tho
A bit unconventional I know, but it becomes pretty obvious once their specific chapter gets going
You gonna create a one shot?
Probably
Ackerson Family started as individual slices of life that could be read in a vacuum
You could pick up Retired Rifleman before Little Crusader and you'd still get the context as to who was who and what made them tick
Reading Retired Rifleman was good
I feel like Kelly deserves another one leaps of faith isn't enough
That's a 2
Ryan is the everyday man who keeps up with everyone else but has hidden PTSD. Sev is the super black operative who is anxious about her past catching up to her. Charlie is the overly compassionate kid who can be an emotional time bomb if not addressed. And Kelly, depending on how old he is, is a bundle of joy or a sharp minded kid who wants to keep things together
I like how Kelly developed throughout the years
All right, so after Saints I give Kelly his own day to shine
Yay
At first he was indeed a small kid but now after reading that 7th chapter was hitting different

Who the biological parents are between Charlie and Kelly matters also
Remember, Kelly comes from Ryan who is a regular guy
He's still leagues beyond normal kids his age, but not to the degree that Charlie is
If Kelly is a genius athlete, Charlie is a super genius athlete
An offspring of two supersoldiers vs a regular guy and a supersoldier
Yeah
But is the story going to happen after Charlie left?
For Leaps of Faith?
The one shot you gonna create
Eh, was thinking we jump back a bit
Charlie is still home but not sure exactly when
There is a seven year age gap between the two which does make timing a bit complicated
Maybe Kelly is 7 or 8
Still need to flesh things out. The civilization is going to be a nuisance to figure out
As well as how many Saints I want to show
3 is a good number
If the year is like the medieval age, I think there would be like every 100 years a Saint
So...Sliver being Saint, a middle ground in a colonial age, and then modern?
Yeah
That would simplify things then...
You could always make more Saints in between if you feel like adding more
Now even though I've specified the Rainlands to be filled with resilient stinkers...how do I incorporate disease?
The Myans and Inca did get wiped out by smallpox after all
Yea
During the Kastila came
Do cats and dogs have a specific disease that humans can't get? Like, their version of the common cold?
Idk
But I do know that dogs could cough like human
And I shit you not that it scared me at the middle of the night
Well Little Tail Bronx does have rabies as an official disease. Universe calls it "Fox's Disease" and it's lethal
So you gonna put a disease in the story?
Think it would be a good motivation for a period of turmoil for a guardsman to find himself in
I see
Panic, disease, civil and religious unrest, and the belief that the technology of the gods can solve everything if taken
The setting is tropical, yeah?
I am guessing everything will happen in Rainlands
So...you know, rebellion against the church and the gods themselves who are probably busy trying to solve said epidemic from getting worse
For the time being until we kickstart the war

Then it's off to Bronxon and the provinces of Gasco
Oh by the way Anton, you'll see it in Leaps of Faith but one of the walking animal species is going to be those giant sloths you see in Rimworld
I'm putting them north of the Rainlands in their own countries and take a guess who overlooks them with his robotic army?
I shouldn't hunt those again
Yup, Alejandro the Mechlord Vampire provides guardianship over a bunch of walking giant sloths in his own country
dear god
Despite being the second hardest animal to tame, Kasey just decided to give me an entire family of the things...I took them with me to space
But yeah, those big guys are one of the species that runs around and will be involved in the action
I like the idea they used animals in the war, it is inevitable when you used creatures like those
Especially watching it 1v3 my colonists
They're animals would be the Thrumbos
Raindlands groups would use lizards and possibly vultures
Folks in Bronxon though would be mechanized outside of some auxiliary horse cavalry units
Also yes, Thrombos may be the rarest animals in Rimworld but I'm having them be the wooly warhorses of the giant sloths
With writing, anything is possible
Also Fred for context, this is a Thrumbo:
It looks sad
I didn't make the sprite so blame the developers
Also the megatherium/megasloth/giant sloth:
So these guys would be riding tree eating, pain resistant, razor horned wooly warmounts in less developed nations
But having like higher traits on animals, could easily tame that, right?
A good way to hunt a Thrumbo is literally mass firepower. Four guys armed with chain shotguns point blank can down one fast
A level 20 animal handler has a 1% chance to tame one outside of inspiration
God damn
The rest of the Rim sees Thrumbos as rare, damn near mythical animals. Alcenta, yeah we export Thrumbo fur for our national GDP
How much for a kilogram of fur?
Not entirely sure
Simple answer is alot
Yeah
In silver coins. So on average, one butchered Thrumbo in good condition is about 5K silver dabloons
But in gold?
Silver is thr standard in Rimworld
Gonna try the rich guy escaped their planet
Let's see how it fare soon
But in the meantime, Khmer empire setting
Frankly, only reason I even know about the Khmer was because Civ6 music
Cambodia is near to our country but gonna need learn more than what happened back in the 1970's
This is going to take longer than I expected
The other is Kongo, correct?
That was the idea
Both I know zilch about but figured someplace exotic (for me at least) and definitely not Western influence
Mostly because as much as Western society likes to think it's the only thing that matters, it's not and there's other cultures and histories out there
So...expanded setting to make things a tad more "believable" and exotic rather than the barrage of Western Euope medieval fantasy
Which is fine, but I'm deciding to be broader and make it more of a world with different places, cultures, beliefs, etc.
Architecture, names, and maybe some religious influences. Rain World is heavily influenced by Indian/South East Asain cultures so I figure go with that
Especially Buddhism
The Ancients left behind their structures, the Slugcats and Scavs would have pretty good inspiration to work off of
I just need to avoid making an ass out of myself if I'm going to borrow elements from a culture
Indeed
So Khmer empire were known for the building skills apparently
Really making those temples like the Ancients in the Depths
Considering the ruins in the jungles are still in good condition in modern day, makes sense
And the temples are very similar in the depths
Main chat did suggest using Karma flowers as the Rain World recreational drug...
So you gonna aim for the culture and society?
I still like the idea of the cherrybomb plants being used for local gunpowder...maybe tone it down compared to other places
Yeah, at least for the early sections and pre-colonial holdings chapters
It is either I'm going to look up in wiki or actually doing a research like how I researched for the Cleopatra play
Could see matchstick muskets and grenades meant for the elite and religious guards...regulars use crossbows
And spears
I like the use of gunpowder weapons
Just like how Portugal visited Japan :)))
I mean, Fuedal Japan at one point had more guns than all of Europe
Those rice farmers ain't playing no more with those fancy warriors
I'm just thinking those would be the elite weapons for either the royalty or the religious. The more advanced stuff would be from the purposed organisms
I like the thinking of hierarchy
So, which would you suggest? Going to wiki or doing an actual research on any sites and finding references
Start with the Civ6 wiki, then Wikipedia, then maybe a few other sources and work my way from there. Not perfect, but at least enough to hopefully avoid being an uncultured barbarian
Fair
Even tho I haven't played that game
The power of rest compels within me
I do not feel tired after drinking three coffees in a day
Everyone doesn't want to go to Brazil
Civ 6 starts playing Brejeiro and it sounds like a tropical resort
Meanwhile, Civ6 Russia goes from simple folk song to "In Atomic Russia you don't play Tetris, NUCLEAR TETRIS PLAYS YOU"

At least that's how the music sounds to me
Does every civilization scales in late game
Music changes for every age even if the songs stay the same
America uses "Hard Times come Again no More", Canada is "O Canada", Scotland is "Scotland the Brave"
So on and so forth
Maybe I could use lizard scales for currency...
Cold mountains would make the lizards less inclined to live there so hard thing to come by
Lizard leather could be a status of wealth. Being so rich and influential you can walk around literally wearing money
Mostly they run heavily with rice production, mostly built in nearby lakes or rivers, even in irrigated villages.
Rice paddies were using huge complex of irrigation systems to maintain there source of food and products.
Sometimes they sell coconuts, palm sugars etc.
Fish for the win, they love fishing near fresh waters
Market places but they don't have chairs or tables, they only sit on straw mats and placing their wares in front of them.
Tax systems are there
Mostly the place were run by women
Lizard scales can be a start for currency :)))
The latter is actually a damn important resource for the war
Grows like weeds in the wild, easy to harvest, can fill anyone, easy to store and transport, tastes good...perfect food for a fighting force
I'm of the opinion it'll be hard to grow in agriculture but thrives in the wild
Or the wilds of the Rainlands at least
Good luck finding it elsewhere
Now I could move on to society in wiki again
So they gonna forage through the jungle?
Well this area I plan to be in the mountains so...maybe not the jungle
On a lake
The civilization is near the lake then?
Kinda like what the Mayans did
Mexico City, blanking on what it once was called by the Mayans
...Maybe...time for a refresher course there
Anyway, the society is based on a Hindu caste system
Where the religious people on the highest, the military on the second, the commoners, merchant, artisans on the third and the untouchables are the outcasts or the slaves
Servants, farmers, artisans, soldiers, the politicians, religious?
Hmm, makes sense
Okay imma send a screenshot from wiki
Because I'm not gonna go extreme again like the Cleopatra play like from college
Feel like the Iterators wouldn't necessarily care too hard so long as there is probably some code of ethics going on
The Iterators do know what it's like to be slaves after all and I could see them being uncomfortable with certain areas
That I know about. Maybe not every level and the original names, but I do know about the caste system
Religious group is very on top
Going to keep that and the Iterators deliberately using that to maintain control
Again, I'm thinking the regulars and peasant militias would be using spears and crossbows
Maybe war axes or clubs
Elites and high classes:
oh I do love the smell of gunpowder in the morning
The religious and royal governor retainers have access to gunpowder and maybe the electrical spears
Any purposed organism would have probably a hidden sidearm in case something goes pearshaped. A special team would be dispatched with the real heavy stuff
What about the huge creatures? Would the soldiers could use it as a mount?
Soldiers would use their crossbows while riding on their mounts
Maybe a wooly lizard? Not scaly but definitely lizard adjacent
That or a variant on the centipedes...
I cannot look at centipedes in the same way
A fuzzy centipede that relies a venomous bite to delivery a nerve toxin...
NOPE that's nightmare fuel. Let's go with that
I could remember those traumatic times on Inv
Anyway moving on to the structure of their houses
And what clothes they were wearing
Semi-aquatic, fuzzy, hissing centipede originally meant for beam cutting now armed with a neuro toxin and having someone riding it with a spear... That's absolutely terrifying and it works

Imagine doing naval warfare and you see that from afar
Boarding your ship and attacks
Along with its friends
And riders
They were too many
Definitely would be "Rain world" though
Some weird, nightmarish animal now rushing towards you
"May the gods forgive you because me and my spindly friends are not"
-the one who rides the centipedes
As for clothes... I can see the lower castes being denied such as the slaves and peasants (though they would be fuzzy enough or given just enough exceptions to avoid freezing), artisans would have some, royalty would flaunt it, soldiers armor, priests would also flaunt it, purposed organisms would wear enough to get the point across for practicality
Lowland tribals and migratory clans wouldn't care in my opinion
Though this does pose a bit of...conundrum
The houses are like the same but the higher ups are having the premium
Because in Leaps of Faith Charlie is NOT a fan of clothes but he doesn't see himself as a "nudist" given the norms of Rainlands based regions
I'll chalk that up to regional differences
Peninsula Sector doesn't care because very little to show, this mountain lake civilization decided to go the clothing route. Done, moving on...
Hmm
Gonna put Sliver on top?
Well, the Iterators would prop themselves up to control and their purposed organisms would be along the lines of angels
Not sure if Sliver is group senior, but she would definitely be "a goddess"
For the record, I plan to have Martin down the road believe in different gods than the Iterators. He actually comes from a tribe and he went into civilization to learn medicine
Got drafted and shipped overseas...womp
He believes that there are other gods than the iterators?
Migratory tribe that interacts with the colonies for trade so a tad more informed
They want the good stuff
And also, performing rituals and ceremonies were only occured by the elites, the royal family and the most religious members
Makes sense
And having actually having two kinds of religion
Hey Fred, you have any input you want to add?
One for the higher ups and one for the low class
I may not be tired due to coffee but I will make count due to the battery
Funny enough, I plan to have certain sects of the clergy to be actually in on thr goals of the Iterators which would explain why they interact with purposed organisms so well
Serving with the angels
Hey, the Iterators need a lot more than their purposed organisms for boots on the ground.
I mean, One centuries later inherits her own private empire across the Peninsula Sector filled with different tribes, colonies, and frontier settlements.
She could manage it all with critical thinking thanks to her adaptations
Yep
One is honestly scary due to her strategic mind and her soft power. She has the resources and means to get shit done and if she can't do it alone, she has the connections to back her up
I always thought of One always having a backup plan due to her wide knowledge and information gathering with every source within the tip of her fingers
she could hold anyone
Bit she's also super sis and a loving aunt. Busy beyond belief and would be a terrible parent due to who she is at heart, but she really does love her younger siblingns
Yea
And hey, some people really are bad parents even if they are great family members. One is a soldier, politician, diplomat, and a master manipulator all at once and she knows she's these things
Does she trust herself due to her nature?
She trusts herself and the others
She just doesn't aim to be something she's not
She would be an awful parent simply because she's not meant to be a parent, even ignoring her programming. So rather than hurt herself and those around her, she accepts being a sister and an aunt
A wildcard SRS played
That's the very sweet thing because she focus for the support of Sev
Four and Five might be the only other family members who could pull it off
Four is just a workaholic and Five is...confused about taking the plunge even with her "experiments"
If I may ask, do they work together during the war?
Three and Five are sent to Heavonsong, Seven is sent out with Hannibal to Bronxon, the rest are busy at home until shit hits the fan big time
Nah you seem to have everything worked out
Been too much using history as reference
Also, the other sectors are busy also as are the other lines
Research is cracking down against disease and tech discoveries, maintaining helps keep the Iterators standing and rebuild infrastructure, equipment manufacturing sent to well...the factories
The different lines might get into rivalries with each other and some personal individuals may even hate each other, but they're on the same team and can work with others (maybe just send them to someone they can deal with if they hate others)
Look past the tribes, seemingly primitive civilizations, and jungles and the Rainlands are a secret super power
So...Wakanda if it was more of a confederacy than a unified kingdom basically
All of them are each other's throats
Anyway, despite I like to chat but the phone begs to differ
And it's late for you
It was a mistake to drink a lot of coffee
11 pm, still wide awake
Phone's dying
Oh boy
I'll see what I can look up about the Khemr
I'll aim to be respective but make my own spin. It is fan fiction after all.
Just need to avoid being a jackass
Indeed a fanfic
Ppl are sensitive nowadays
For me I laughed my ass off after seeing Philippines' stereotypes
For me, including other nations isn't a thing to do "because it's the right thing to do"
I do it because the world isn't a humogulous place and there are thousands of different cultures, languages, beliefs, etc.
Right on
And if I'm going to make a world war, I should specify that there are different people in this "world"
That includes everyone
So yes, I'm going to have colonial American Slugcats fight alongside Arabic mice and Belgain cats and dogs to liberate French and East European inspired counties.
That's sound right
While Spanish inspired robots and giant sloths come in for support
Does any of that make sense in a vacuum? No, but it does make it seem like this is a world and not the USA doing everything
Yes, I can see everyone doing the work
Yes, there are sectors overseen by different nations. But this isn't just one nation doing everything
Brazil joined WWII at the tail end...Brazil of all places
So yes, multiple nations and terms because that's how a world works
I kinda forgot which one tho
Leaps of Faith there's even different ways to say "insert animal"-shit based on national location
Night, I shall report the sun rising in the place
Good night
Aight, Fred, we gonna do some art?
So funny thing...I keep imagining pianist Saint playing Billy Jorl songs, specifically Turn the Lights Back On
Would Inv be playing Elton John???
Well, I would laugh if I saw Saint and Inv playing pianos as those two... Piano duel
Both of them playing piano?
More of a joke
Frankly, Inv would at best be the urban legend not even the Iterators can explain
That thing out there that logically shouldn't exist but there's SOMETHING that can't be explained
Inv be like something that even the iterators can't comprehend
Should we put OC iterators or canon iterators
So canon?
Oc
I see
Should we make up names?
My oc can be of use
Despite being a mad scientist and all
If you want, Fred you in?
Not sure if I've got this covered. I do have Isolated Innovation in Leaps of Faith and while he isn't mad, he is a scientist
Lost Extinction is a heartless yet comedic iterator who kept focusing the progress of a his works
Well...
Tell ya what, I can add him in with his Apex if you want. You'll get credit for your stuff in my tags and notes
You want one of my stinkers in yours?
Kinda yeah
I accept
Apex is a fully weaponized slugcar with the smoothest brain of all creatures he had
Guess I could make him a dumb but reliable bodyguard/assistant for another purposed organism
I already started on my dadvulet 2.0 drawing
I am taking it slow instead of pushing myself to the limit like I did before
Right on bud
Who do you want?
I do have another scug but she is not in Chasing Birds
Go at your own pace. There's no rush
They're more like a "sample" collector
I feel like he's a more cold version of my SRS. Experimental and specific designs that are specialized as opposed to general application
I don't have any oc iterators but I do have an iterator name generator
He is cold but ain't stoic
So a research line? A bungled mix of research and combat maybe?
They're like disable the thing, either grabbing the piece or dragging the whole thing back into the can
So not so smart research line then. Field specialist that needs extremely simple instructions and still brings the whole animal
Yes
BUT reliable despite that
I can work that in
Everyone would see probably an eccentric huntsman who drags whole red lizards by the tail
But they cannot even form a sentence out of their mouth
Mostly gibberish and some only comprehensive words
I keep thinking either TF2 Heavy or a 40K Ogryn...
More like Ogryn
Crash Bandicoot???
Heavy got PhD
Never played a Crash game...
I'll see what I can do and forward it before I post
Anyway, you want a C-20 in yours or one of my other things?
I have a few ideas that are in the works but not official yet
Maybe yea
Two would absolutely despise working with someone who can't communicate and wasting her time...
Like, screaming loudly or the "hey look at me!" flamboyant loud?
They'll rambling like "Apex always find big birdies and Apex will always eat yummy flesh, yes, yes."
Does Three can handle that kind of unit?
I know he didn't exactly show it in his chapter but that was due to midlife crisis
Three is meant to be loud, aggressive, direct, and smart. He's thr guy who charges fortified MG bunkers to lead a charge, will win, then check on who needs patching up
LE still got three scugcars, the two was mentioned in the Chasing Birds and the last was a teaser for the next writing
They got those but not smart
Well, I could see him keeping up with Apex and trying to help him conceptual stuff
If you read Chasing Birds, we still got Assistant and Sitter
Assistant is LE's little helper for the things and doing calculations, progressions and formulas while Sitter was made to look after Apex
I think Three would fit right in with Apex
Probably
Three is brains mixed with brawn...and be the guy to bring pizza and drinks to party night
Apex would not easily drunk nor easily filled with food
Would he be a party guy?
Yea but mainly for the food
They're like to party and enjoyed games but they aimed for the meal
Probably would get along with Gourmand
Gourmand is here
All right, an explosive spitting, aggressive fighting yet sharp minded and surprisingly compassionate red lizard Slugcat meets these guys and helpsnout...only to realize what he has walked into and gives sympathies to Sitter
Or something like that? I mean, you know your characters and what kind of scenes you want
Cool, can't wait to see what misadventure Three gets himself into
Feel like he's that Metal Slug character that wandered into the wrong game now and questioning where he is...
"I knew I should have taken that left turn at Alberturky"
If you throw in a Giginox Three better blow that thing sky high...
Whenever Three trying to ask Apex, they would be staring blankly either on a wall or on the sky
(SHUDDER) Hate that unholy thing
Giginox:
And when Three as Sitter if he is fine, he would say it's all fine but behind him, Apex just devoured the samples they were delivering
I can understand the "NOPE" levels rising
Oh shit, kinda familiar with that but that was two years ago
My introduction to that thing, first catch a glimpse of it in a nighttime snowstorm, then meet it in a cave and it shrieks. NOPE, I AM GETTING OUT OF HERE!
Any weapons that would recommend to bring that creature down
I'm not even exaggerating when I say this: Fire weapons. Literally kill it with fire
Fire damage
That's its weakness
"It's wizard time mf, FIREBALL!"
Anyway, one scugcar still not in present in my works
She'll be release soon on the next work
Strangely, even over ten years later Giginox is still the nightmare fuel for me compared to other things
And I've harvested plenty of hunts
Did that take out of the system?
Spiders that skin rubbery birds for leather armor, vampire dragons, lightning sea crocodiles, dragons that can electromagnetically cause rocks to float, giant snakes, a praying mantis controlling a mech, even a subterranean demonic crocodile dragon
Giginox still is the thing that makes me uneasy
What's strange is there is another monster that's similar but I'm not spooked by it
Guess first impressions and all that
But the first thing already scared you?
Khezu just is pure silence for background and I was more confused than anything else...and then the immaturity kicked in
I can formulate like a scene where Three was eating his rations and he saw Apex looking at the food, despite they ate a caramel lizard
Sounds good, look forward to it
But I can only construct a hundred of words
Still short tho
But lemme see how it goes
Fred, you have someone you want to have a showing?
Nah I haven't bothered with making OCs yet
All right
Though I know you're taking your time and still working on Dadvulet, here's an idea for another picture: The family having breakfast or Sev and Ryan dancing
Either or would be heartwarming to see no doubt
Im gonna see if I could make that after I am done with Dadvulet 2.0
Both of those ideas do seem complicated so there is a good chance I won't be able to make it
Kelly with a camera perhaps?
I can definitely do that
Still wondering if I'll see Charlie losing his marbles in that one scen from Leaps of Faith...
That's gonna take a long while
But I'll probably will do it by the end of the summer
(just gonna need to hide my sketch book from my parents)
Fair enough, especially given the individuals and shenanigans involved in that scene
Uh...PG/Rated E10+ please. Rated T at the worst and even that would be a stretch
I am not taking any risks
Just...nothing risquรฉ
Funny...I'm fine with fight scenes but I'm still uncomfortable with "other stuff"
Writing them that is...
I once decide to look at the rain world fanfics that are rated E the tags alone made me instantly go back to the main page
Intimacy, nonconesent is a line I want to stay away from
Too bad my past self already created those
Different "E" rating. Ao3 "E" is the "Explicit content"
The "E" I was referencing was the American ESRB age rating for "Everyone"
I probably should have said explicit instead of E
Well, "Everyone 10 and up" for E10+ since I was using that one specifically in my statement
Well, you likely know what scene I'm talking about Fred so I doubt that's anything "Explicit"
That's nothing compared to what I saw
If it does count than the Internet has gone back to the 1920's Hay's Code for Hollywood which would be dumb
Or well read
Hi there. Please refrain to going further into thtis conversation, this server is not a place for this
Sorry. If anything, we're trying to avoid it
Alright then
Yeah, i get it, it's just the discussing these kind of things can make people uncomfortable or invite some weird people to cross the line in discussing it.
Thank you for listening though
Fair, sorry to set off alarms. Have a good day
Yeah sorry
no worries, you both have a good day as well
What just happened
umm uhh
I just write something and got back
Let's just move on...
Alright
Anyway
Three sighed and sat down on a rock after they finished hunting down a king vulture. Their dad must love king vultures that Apex always speaks of hunting it down. He looked at the rugged gray slugcat and began to munch on a dead caramel lizard for their treat.
โYou did good back there, Three. Never thought a complete stranger would help us.โ Sitter sat next to him as he glowed a little and moved his small bag to his lap. Pulling out his rations and smiling at him.
โNo problem, it's kinda my fault that I made you a bit distracted when your brother ate up the samples which your father asked for.โ He nodded to him and pulled out his rations too.
โFather? Oh, you mean Lost Extinction?โ He asked confusingly as grabbed out his meal ready to eat canned food.
โYou don't call him father or dad?โ He seemed perplexed as he asked Sitter.
โOh, no. It would be awkward to call my creator โdadโ. Oh that would be weird indeed.โ He waved him off as opened the can and grabbed his spoon.
โI mean, do you call him other than creator?โ
โNope, he is our creator. There are no other names we can call to him.โ
Scene
That would probably work for Three. He knows Suns is his creator but he's used to seeing Suns as his father so I can see him being thrown for a loop in your setting
He questioned why they didn't call him a parent
Yup
The way I see my setting, a lot of the purposed organisms can have at least cordial relationships with their creators due to the long time of working together
So, Father, Mother, madam, boss, etc.
Lost Extinction was built different
He is referred as the "benevolent" creator or just plain creator
Either I'm gonna add something
Three frowned that he only Sitter calling their parent just creator. He looked at his canned meal but then only turned to his side to see Apex staring at him, their face was covered in blood and licking it away as they looked at something. He managed to trace their sight only to see they are looking at the canned food he is carrying. โWhat are you looking at?โ
Apex pointed at his canned meal then they opened their mouth wide, pointing it to their mouth.
โYou want me to give you my meal?โ He then put distance his rations away from Apex.
โApex wants what funny slugcat has.โ They nodded as they reached out for it.
โApex, that's just rude. Three here helped us with the samples which you just ate an hour ago.โ He defended Three from the hungry beast.
โApex hungry, yes, yes.โ They argued.
โYou were always hungry. Gosh, how did Bandit and Terminator put up with you?โ Sitter began to face palm at Apex's reasoning.
โBandit kind enough to bring food. Sister Termi loves to bring Apex food too.โ They explained as they picked up a rib and picking off some bits of meat which are stuck on the rib.
โThey only did that to shut you up, you teeth for brains. I cannot even believe our creator made you first but didn't have brains to comprehend.โ He shook his head and sighed tiredly.
โWhat comprehend, yes, yes?โ
โNothing, just eat up your lizard.โ
Continuation
Nice
Three probably remembers a poker night gone wrong or something with Seven throwing fits about losing
Assuming poker exists in your setting
Sev was still suck at poker despite having the perfect poker face
Poker does exist but blackjack is their thing
That's the joke. She has no mouth and yet SOMEHOW has the worst poker face
so sad
But on LE's can, they are playing blackjack to pass the time
Despite Bandit was part from a tribe, he was still there to join for a game
And sev is loosing handedly to this little bundle of joy:
Aw man, never thought a supersoldier would lose to a kid
Mei Marzipan gentleman. Little sister to main protagonist Malt, four years old, mans one of the MGs on the Taranis...
In other words, she's adorable and awesome
A four year old, manning a mg in a tank?
Statistically, she has the lowest damage bit the highest speed
Understandable
Me having her good at poker is my thing. Still, a four/five year old beating a black ops soldier at poker would be amusing. Seven would have her pride shattered and she'd go with it because thebkids are having fun
The kids are having fun
Hannibal on the side: I'm surprised you're going through with this
Seven: Go to hell and fry
The kids: What's happening exactly?
Hannibal was tryna ask but the wounded pride is real
Gonna make a oneshot very soon after Chasing Birds
Actually, what time period should I have Apex in? Because here I'm thinking Sliver sees him waltzing around but I can also see him causing constructive mayhem in the field with One weaponizing his tunnel vision
Apex is just a clone, Sitter and Assistant, along with Terminator just happened to be in a Modern time
LE just got annoyed after centuries of mindless beings so he decided in that timeline to create other than Apex
LE keeps building the same exact units with no deviations...
I mean, I'll be having Sig making Legionaires and Hunters. Just each one is unique
Legionaires = Clone Troopers
Hunters = Clone Commandos
I see
But the Apex project for centuries seems to be working out, he only stopped after finding it annoying in the modern age
Sounds like LE copy pasted the same guy over and over without modifications. Sig allowed some variation in his lines
Personality differences and the such
He only did variation on the modern age
Thus Assistant and Sitter was created
Bandit was never a purposed organism but he is jacked up due the trainings he took within the tribe he was raised
Terminator on the other hand is a different case
Everyone else: So this guy is the exact same as the last one? No differences?
Sitter: More ornless based on my creator's ramblings
The other Iterators: It's actually impressive just how perfect the similarities are. You'd be only able to tell the different Apex's apart due to age
Imagine an Apex died and replaced with another Apex
With zero differences from what I'm gathering
Same fur, intellect, personality, even the genetics
But maybe the fur will be different since Apex retains scars and bald spots but as replaced by clone, they would start clean
I meant fur color and how course or smooth it would be
Oh okay
Sitter: Creator.... Apex died from ligma
LE: puts another Apex
Sitter: Wait no-
Like, Sig would have two different Hunters and they may have different fur color and interests. One may enjoy cheese while the other prefers tomatos
Oof
But I would the encounter of Bandit on your setting tho
A fierce tribal warrior who remained with the scavs too long
So...which front would this band of misfits go to?
The one involving revolution and AI uprising or the one with Howl's Moving Tank?
The AI uprising I think
Three's headache intensifies
Let's just say, LE had beef to those machines and to think that they're better than him
And so he sends forth an army of Apexes, Bandit along with his tribespeople and Terminator to be the last result
Three having a meeting between official Heavonsong military and rebel officers: All right listen up! The machines are on the move and causing chaos. We can cut them off here by-
Random combat purposed organism runs in: We've got reinforcements!
Admiral Ryota: Who are they?
Random: A team of Apex's from the Rainlands.
Three: Oh hell, not him
Wait...a team of them? There's more of him now?!
Three: sees a wave of Apexes charging towards the front like waves "What in the hell am I seeing?"
Crash Bandicoot Slugcat Clone army on the move is in my head
I only heard of crash bandicoot in a maxor vid
But in the context of the fight, Bandit and Terminator were the real help while Apex are just cannon fodders
Knowing Three and what's at stake, he'd try to minimize casualties but I could see the Apex Legion just 40K Guardsman YOLOing into oblivion much to everyone's dismay
The kriegsman but with emotions that are incomprehensible
They would even stop and look at an antipersonnel mine and one would of them would poke the detonator
Out of curiosity
Admiral Ryota stares in confusion: What kind of unit did we just receive?
Three, Five, Sitter: A disposable batch of idiots that somehow get the job done despite their incompetence and self-desrtuction
The AI: What unit is that? They can't be that stupid...can they? Surely not, the others weren't this dumb
Apex 1: "FOOD!" holds up a grenade
Three Apexes fighting for it until it exploded
Saffron rebels: Not even we were that bad and we were fishermen fighting tanks on donkeys...
Bandit: Welp, there goes another one
I think you'd have fun with the Far Eastern Front Anton
AI playing to be Palpatine, imperial revolution, conquered lands rebelling, special forces, and a team of maniacs
Aw man, conquerors :)))
With a hint of psychopaths in the front
LE: They think they can do better?! Sends a huge wave of Apexes whooping around with no fear or desire for safety.
The Mechanoids Alejandro sends over to help: We don't feel pain or fear and yet we are greatly concerned for our chances of success... Mass wave assaults are illogical
:)))
Well, first things first, get Sliver's family line going
After that, give Kelly a oneshot
After that, who knows?
Huzzah
Huzzah
But I'm gonna go off now
I did chat on the discussion it's 11 pm
Been fun discussing Apex being a cannon fodder out of all things
So...how confused do you think everyone is going to be when they see Three the Demolitionist in Chasing Birds and various Apex copies in Saints of Sliver???
Oh, got it
Currently I'm still writing where Sitter and Apex got dumped into a place where large trees are around the can and a large bodies of water beneath
Then specifically those giant trees do have like some buildings on the branches at the end of the border
Strangely, I feel like one of the guardsman/soldier Saint chapter I'm going to be listening to Shogun 2 Fall of the Samarai's "Uncle Samarai" song a lot
Despite having nothing to do with Japan in the slightest...
maybe there'll be a sign
In the meantime, listening to ogre's song from twwh3 for my smooth brain creatura
Anyway, as I said in main chat I'll get a start on the first chapter tomorrow. I'll run LE by you Anton to ensure I get his character right
Hey Fred, I'm thinking four different Saints...want to take a crack at them after Dadvulet?
Sure I doubt the designs would be that difficult to draw and I do need some practice drawing slugcats with fur
Okay, so the first and second Saint's are probably going to be the most complicated. Fourth will probably be the easiest with him being the Saint we actually know just with open eyes and a piano.
First Saint is going to be Sliver herself. Probably a robe to blend in, not sure if the fur would be gray (probably), and she lacks the long tongue. Instead, she would have bionic arms to varying degrees. Probably right arm would be a full bionic that would house offensive/defensive measures such as an energy projector (Iron Man repulsor) and effectively a power hand. Left arm would be less complicated and more of a means to focus her wacky technomancy shielding.
Second Saint is going to be complicated due to them being a religious soldier. So...elaborate armor and spear. Still no tongue but lacks the bionics. I'm thinking maybe European Renaissance/Japanese Warring States era armor and matchlock musket to accompany the look. If you can think of a more Southeast Asian look to go with that, more to ya.
Third Saint will be mercifully simple since they will be a tribal. Maybe inherits that spear down the line but that's it. Just a young, wild looking Saint (maybe a giant ant eater version of Saint just with an actual Slugcat head and not the ant eaters mouth.)
Which SEA are we talking about?
"SEA?" Not familiar with that one
South East Asia
I am guessing the third one will be the shortest
Ah. Khemr, India, maybe Southern China.
I think India is in South tho
I'll take a look at Empire Total War for Indian infantry to figure out the "title" to give
I'm a SEA person tho
The designs don't sound too complicated so there is a good chance that I will draw them
Well I'm just an uncultured barbarian aren't I???
Well Anton, maybe you can provide some actual help in that regard. It's clear that I'm floundering a bit
Also, I'll run some titles by ya to make it a bit authentic. I think "Janissary" is Ottomon/Middle Eastern so probably not entirely correct
I'm confused too if the Ottoman Empire was part of Europe or Central Asia
But Janissaries can be found in the parts of Turkey, right?
Okay...computer game from 2007, I need you assistance again
History, I choose you! Goes to the web for help
Yeah basically...
Hey, at least I'm trying to be a tad respectful even if I know I'm going to be throwing it into the wood chopper
Probably better than most people who just fling things willy nilly
They are very sensitive
So Janissaries are near European and they do formed in Turkey
Guess I'll save the Janissaries for the Faarhi during the war... Light infantry units?
Yes, they are light infantry
Well that's one thing in a completely different time period resolved
Wait why are we chatting janissaries again?
Was thinking on the title for the guardsman Saint
And realizing I shouldn't throw words around because they sound "cool"
At least do some homework
So Janissaries are the standing army of the sultan but they can be a bodyguard
Huh, I thought Janissaries were elites... Must be a tad more ubiquitous than I thought
I mean yeah they are elites
How about the "Bargris?"
Maratha Empire light cavalry during the Invasion of Bengal, 1741-1751
Would that work and avoid the cultural landmine?
Never heard of them
Aight gonna do some research
Okay idk what's the spelling is
Empire Total War is not necessarily proving to be the best help (considering 2007 computer game from a predominantly Western game studio, probably should have seen that one coming)
Alright, gonna do some research
Good thing college taught me a thing or two
So, the term of Bargis means burden taker, mostly they are light calvary from the Maratha and Mughal army
But in Maratha they are known to be mercenaries which loved to plunder
How about "Varu"? Civilization 6 says that translates to "Royal Elephant" and while rhid guy won't be the size of Four, probably a significant title for a religious soldier
Or...since I am basing off the Khemr and their special unit in Civ6 is the "Domrey" I could use that instead...
Domrey?
Game has them being apparently a war elephant with a "double crossbow" on their back. Faction special unit replacing the standard trebuchet artillery
Wait, no actual ballista
Elephant with a giant ballista on its back...
I see
Are we sure the tank was invented by DaVinci or in WWI?
Again, I'm kinda exploring both a region and period in history I'm not familiar with so I'm trying to get homework done. Yes it's fan fiction but I like to put thought into what I do...even if it's bonkers on paper
(Also, the wiki says "Domrey" means elephant in Khmer...which I've been misspelling this entire time, DAMN IT!)
Man, I think Da Vinci got high back then
Or drunk
I don't know what do Domrey looked like irl
Well, assuming I go with that title, I am planning this guy to be a well armed and armored warrior monk basically
He would know about his heritage and the work of the Iterators, so service to the cause would be within the family
Japan got Ikko Ikki
Then I just pull a fall of the Roman Empire with internal strife, religious division, and outside warrior tribes knocking on the doors with this guy getting fed up with everything
Well...Japan is kinda covered by two separate nations. One of them is Heavonsong
(Now what the bleep am I going to do about Saffron outside of what Wargroove 2 gave us? They look like the Caribbean got mashed with the Polynesian Islands...)
(Pirates of the Solomons????)
Pirates of the Marshall island?
I'll replay that campaign if I do that front
Actual stuff, start writing Saints of Sliver and run a few things by to avoid bungling your characters and cultural landmines even though it's fan fiction.
Or...I just say "screw it" and embrace the Nuclear Ghandi like the Civilization series does
I love avoiding landmi- gets blown off
I heard about that, is it really in gameplay?
I'm not sure but...it's a part of the Civilization community.
Whether or not it got fixed in later games, NUCLEAR GHANDI IS HERE TO STAY
Never thought Gandhi would pull that off
Pulls out rarefaction cells, starts chucking them at pesky neighbors
I'll get starred on things in a few hours. May have a PDF ready if you don't mind beta-ing
I only type at docs
I don't have PDFs
And also I may not be online for long, Sunday funday
Church day
Fair enough. May want a few days to write and edit anyway
And also remember to take rest, a really, really daily reminder
Anyway, I know it's late for you so have a good night. And as for rest, well this writing is a hobby. An in-depth hobby, but still a hobby.
Night
I'm just going to post what I've got for the moment here. Not much since it's only a start but here it goes:
Mountain Lake Group Encrypted Channel - Group Message
Pinnacle of Enlightenment, Lasting Extinction, Sliver of Straw, Grandiose Design of Theory, Three Bell Tolls
POE: Everyone here?
SOS: Iโm here Pinnacle.
TBT: Letโs keep this short.
TBT: Iโve got a religious ceremony to oversee and another merchant dispute to resolve over here.
GDOT: My situation isnโt that much better with this flash storm dropping freezing rain onto my city.
GDOT: I thought we were in spring, not mid-autumnโฆ
LE: Can we get this over with?
LE: Iโve got five tests running right now, three tribal skirmishes brewing, and Apex is being incomprehensibly incompetent again.
POE: Incomprehensibly incompetent?
POE: Extinction, weโve been telling you to modify your Apex combat line for six centuries at this point.
POE: No one else has even managed to maintain such a rigid genetic structure lattice for their purposed organisms and you are squandering it on such a simple minded creature.
LE: Apex is flawless and I will hear no slander from any of you short-sighted fools!
LE: He achieves all of his objectives on time and without fail even if the quality is off by a few percentiles.
TBT: Apex is an idiot and you just keep cloning him, admit it.
SOS: I find Apex to be rather endearing actually.
TBT: You find all purposed organisms endearing Sliver.
POE: Enough.
POE: Status updates for your respective settlements please.
GDOT: Still working on the social and religious reforms.
GDOT: The lower castes are making by but the nobles are being increasingly harsh and I may need to resort to more direct measures to get them to listen to me.
LE: Tribals are raiding the crop fields again.
LE: Bells, I will need your local church garrison depending on how bad it gets.
TBT: Actually trying diplomacy Extinction?
TBT: What a surprise.
POE: Bells, Extinction, behave please.
LE: We will be settling this later Bells.
POE: Behave!
SOS: My citizens are at peace and are resowing the fields for the summer.
SOS: Councilor has returned from the Peninsula sector and resolved the coastal community clashes there.
SOS: I also am pleased to report that Arbalist has reformed the city guard to allow volunteer service for all castes in exchange for improved living standards.
GDOT: A bit too radical of a change given the system we have in place in my opinion but you have a stable climate in your city Sliverโฆ
GDOT: Nevermind, Iโm probably just too slow and orthodox to look towards the future.
LE: I distinctly recall someone pushing for the caste system a thousand years ago.
POE: It made sense at the time and we failed to rationalize how much of the past our citizens would replicate.
POE: Itโs not perfect and I will be the first to admit the indentured caste has to be phased out due to some of the practices involved.
POE: However, we are guiding one of five civilizations in the entire Rainlands and one of the most stable sectors as well.
TBT: Speaking of stability, I think Iโve got a lead on those stolen arquebus matchlocks.
TBT: Those anarchists wonโt be causing trouble for long.
POE: Very good.
POE: In terms of my condition-
LE: What did you do now Apex?!
SOS: Oh dearโฆ
LE: I gave explicit instructions to you, you little rodent!
LE: Do I need to recalibrate your brain cells to make you understand you are not to store organs that are harmful to you in your secondary stomach when youโve got a specialized storage container?!
Lasting Extinction has disconnected
TBT: Flawless he says.
POE: My city is stable and working to reinforce ties with the others.
POE: Keep reporting to the forum and remember to call in help as needed.
GDOT: Street accident, got to run.
Grandiose Design of Theory has disconnected
POE: My door is always open if you need me.
POE: Meeting adjourned.
You did good on LE which he didn't accepted his failures and having bad terms with POE and TBT
Everyone talking about the problems while SOS didn't have one :)))
Is Arbalist the Saint?
It looks like LE is an owner of a cat during a zoom call :)))
Anyway, great work
you did nail LE's nature
Arbalist is Sliver's combat purposed organism in the city below here, though combat is not really what he is doing
Instead, kinda bring Four in a way. Working with the city government to institute military and civil defense reforms that would be popular without breaking the status quo. Instead, bending it so the change is gradual
And glad I got LE done right. Him and the various Apex's will make a showing but I figured a good place to start and I wanted to ensure I did him justice
But I think I'm gonna say the spelling of LE is Lost Extinction tho
Thanks for that. I'll fix it
The Dadvulet 2.0 drawing is almost done the only problem I have right now is that I have no idea what to draw or write on the mug
Maybe have it saying something that is defending his beloved coffee? That or make a joke on how the coffee is nicknamed "stupid"
My mind can only come up with mug full of stupid
"I like my stupid brewed hot in the morning?"
If my brain won't come up with anything better tomorrow than I'll write your phrase
I hope my brain won't become toast by the end of the day
Anyway, not a lot of writing done today. How about you guys? Creative plans in motion?
I don't know
After playing inv again I'm beat
The growing hate for centipedes are strong
But how y'all doing rn
Not really feeling the writing itch this weekend...oh well
Actually Anton, I know we establishes Apex to be a dumb ass but why do I see him as strangely competent when the situation demands it?
Like, are we walking Three Stooges level of stupidity and things work out or he can problem solve his way out if need be?
Because as much we were joking him to be stupid, I somehow can see him being...not exactly smart but forward enough to work with allies and have common sense
Yes, Apex doesn't have the mind to comprehend but they would actually do a job well done
Well I'm asking because even of he's not a strict combat line (more like the most resilient and stubborn research line ever based on the jobs given for him), he does seem to have combat training built into him
Apex adapts in hunt and in combat, they can harden their fur into light yet resilient armor for chasing down prey or to prolong a fight
I plan to have him work with the Iterator loyalists (which would include the guardsman/Domrey Saint) during a rather violent incident (details will be ironed later) so I would assume he understands musket tactics and the idea of cover
Or...would he be so stupid that he knows how to use a gun but someone would literally have to yell at him to stay behind a barricade to use it?
Then again, I did write a scene where he's storing a biological sample in his secondary stomach that is physically harmful to him when he has a secure storage container for the job...
I don't think Apex could use a gun due to their claws
But in terms of during a musket warfare, they'll be the front or the flanks to attack the enemy either by tanking the bullets or running up to the sides in a pincer formation
Well...Renaissance era warfare in terms of muskets... Edo Japan? That time frame where guns were in their infancy and used alongside swords, bows, maybe shields, etc.
Yes :)))
I'm just thinking the purposed organisms and secret societies would have access to more advance stuff for a crisis (thinking bolt actions for simplicity sake or full on pulse weapons...not sure but leaning towards bolts right now)
So...he would be bringing a more advanced weapon standing side by side with matchlock muskets, crossbows, and a pike wall
I think bolt action would fit to them
Maybe he uses Monster Hunter's heavy bowgun as a rifle...
But I already of Apex as a weaponless sod, charging into line with their claws that could rip through metal
True...hence why I'm asking these questions
Modern era he definitely would become mincemeat. Three might charge machine guns, but he knows when to duck and cover if the heat is too high
Not sure if Apex would think the same
Hmm...
How about he's smart enough to operate the equipment that's designed specifically for him and good at following orders but would just charge willy nilly I'd left to his own devices? That work?
I think that would fit
Maybe should give him the equipments like heavy weapons, (ATs or Auto cannons)
LE tho would be in denial thinking his creation won't take a rocket
Well, I was thinking MH heavy bowgun...
That too
So...strong, semi armored, capable of shredding steel with his bare claws, has oversized crossbow rifle, good at following simple orders, still a box of rocks. You cool with that?
Because regardless of what spin I take, it is your character
If I may ask, what if there is an Apex Prime, out of a thousand, there is one that is different than the others?
Uh...if you want. Not sure how that would work and probably wouldn't be a thing for Saints of Sliver.
Truthfully, I was wondering if LE was msking his birds more competent despite them supposedly being supportive elements.
So, other Iterators make birds but the Slugcats and Scavengers are still the main workforce but somehow LE flipped the script without even realizing it or something.
Going good here, yourself?
Idk, after having 10 losing streak and only little update, been fine myself
My head hurts a bit but I still should be able finish the Dadvulet 2.0 drawing today
Nice
Can't wait
Praise be drinking coffee
Hey Fred, thinking of writing your own stuff in the future?
I am not sure how well that will turn out plus I still have my artistic skills that I need to improve
Better artist than a writer. Got it
Do the references helped you out?
Probably the best way to learn honestly
Guides, inspirations, and references are great help. But knowing your style and what you're doing for a given work is probably the best way to learn
It's much easier to learn from your mistakes
Magic School Bus Mrs. Frizzle: Time to take chances, make mistakes, and get messy
Nice
Now that I think about it Anton, you see Leaps of Faith yet?
Still reading tho
Never thought no school hits hard
That I have too much free time is also a problem for me
LOL, no one ever thinks about that until it actually happens
BTW since this came up in the main chat, I know this setting is a "crack fic" on paper and in concept given...well everything. But given the level of thought and detail, is it "crack?"
I always associated "crack fics" as basically Monty Python skits
I have never made a crack fic before but maybe that's it
Well, I don't exactly plan to have the "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries"...
Or chopping trees down with a herring...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is such a hysterically absurd movie
I haven't watched monthy python but I only saw small parts of it
I kinda like the killer rabbit
Apex in rabbit form there
Never thought seeing a movie that a single rabbit managed to rout a group of armored men
And needing a "holy hand grenade" to deal with
Actually speaking of insane things, think LE would use his Emperor Vultures commonly in my setting?
I say mine because the Iterators have multiple lines and some do use the same template (key example, NSH relying on Hunters and Legionaires to complete combat jobs over the millenia)
Maybe because in Chasing Birds, he wants to see the potential of his "greater" lifeform but it was a bit much and it got out of hand.
So depends on you if you want to put the Emperor Vulture
