Round two: Have a good night!
Have a good night
I may have found a game that is like the great war described in this fanfic but the war never ended
It's called forever winter
Also the game has the same quirk as rain world where the world exists without you
My sister's laptop can't handle that
I am not sure how well my PC could handle the game
Dadvulet 2.0 will be real
I have no idea what I am doing
I, Stray, will not be productive due two fucking exams and three test in the span of ungodly 7 hours
Dadvulet fr
I will try to create the best dadvulet drawing to ever exist after I of course do some experimenting to improve my drawings
Gonna take me awhile but I am determined
Don't worry I know when to take one even if I don't like doing it often
Alright, chapter 6
Winds and Suns having talk. Really reflects of taking a damn rest.
Six, man, I could remember that one member in the family.
Six is like that one person that said, "I could do better."
Seven and Six did the talk. Of course I would feel Sev since you have a brother been ghosting you for three years.
Being a combat engineer is great. You have the means to start machines of war but the war ended 18 years ago.
Maybe that's all I could summarize.
Yeah, Six was surprisingly difficult to write. How do I have a charisma of 1 character who isn't quite a jackass but just the worst with how blunt and anti-social he is?
Like...I contemplated three times to explain what happened to his leg before I decided that was too much for what I was aiming for with these.
"This leg? Lost in the war. That's all you need to know."
Actually, it was after the war. Sev knew about it through codded channels and just kept it to herself out of fear of spooking everyone else
And then lo and behold, here comes the anti-social combat engineer drinking tea and trying not to open his mouth
You know, I can't stop thinking that when Six spot an invention and will say, "I could do better and it only required quarter of its components and it will be a better version of it."
Six is silly
Six is indeed silly
I have a question how do you draw heads on slugcats?
Because I am having a hard time drawing them
Mostly if I draw a scug head, I started with a circle then with a pentagon
Hol up let me send you a pic
There
But I cannot draw full body
Thx bro
He can handle machines just fine, it's people he can't do well. He's used to Overseers, dealing with robots and computers, and stuff like that. So when he see's a "new invention" called colored television, he's not impressed.
I see
Stuck in summer
Never played
Gonna play again if school's done
It's so bs that every local animal will go crazy
Which story teller are you using?
Cassandra is deceptively hard, Randy is just pure insanity, Kasey is technically the easy mode
She gradually ups the difficulty the longer you play
More tables, get microelectronics, a multi analyzer, sterile materials, and good researchers
Having comfy chairs and statues in your lab can also brighten the mood of the researchers
What if I tell you there's a colonist been idling?
I just watched her running around doing nothing
No cleaning needing to be done?
Nah
Have you manually set task objectives?
Work
You could also send trade caravans
Set up a trading hitching post, go to world view, set up a caravan, and set a destination
But I have nothing to trade but rice
Art bench?
Artwork can improve morale and sell nicely for several merchants
Also...art descriptions are wild
One of my statues commemorated the knocking out of a turkey...
I used it to liven the place
And also, how do I make something that isn't awful?
Many of my colonists are having awful barracks or something
Again, manual work setting. Assign colonists to tasks they're good at and try to give them individual rooms
Not being cramped up in one house?
Unless they're lovers/married they don't like it
Large rooms, good construction, flooring, end tables and dressers, and art can improve a room
Never did rugs but bet those can help
Alrighty, what is the ideal size of a room?
For a single person I started with the floor being 4×4 tiles. It's not big but it can get thr job done (also, vents don't invade privacy so no need to set up AC and heaters everywhere)
The mega structure does work and is efficient in terms of temperature, resources, and work, but people like their privacy.
Alternatively, you can do a "village" build though that requires climate control for each building
Up to you

Now for the 7th
Nsh and Suns talk, had my suspicion that Hannibal might be hunter.
Sev was very paranoid and she has right to be. War ended 19 years ago but you wouldn't know about the enemy.
Charlie's going to college (I just wanna make a joke but I can't since I just finished reading chapter 7

Now when I read Sev's fear of losing Charlie, my mind automatically played "Slipping through my fingers" and I fuckin teared up.
Hannibal is indeed Hunter.
The family of supersoldiers weakest traits are being listed.
As Charlie left, he has his own story now and I'm kinda happy for the sweet ending
Yeah when writing Sev I wanted it to be something special
The seventh chapter is definitely one of the best chapters in the by the numbers
I mean, she knows she's retired but at the same time it felt like the "assignment" was coming to an end
Yee
Dude, you just make me gonna cry
I really felt the maternal energy
Aight, gonna read that next
To be clear, "Seven" and "Sev" are still the same person obviously. But "Seven" is the soldier who is all work for a world that she doesn't belong in. "Sev" is a conflicted parent who wants the best for her kids
Seven was a soldier.
Sev is a mother
Also while NSH has multiple Hunters who are his cream of the crop troops (Legionaries are also good but not as good as a Hunter), Hannibal is THE HUNTER we all know from the game
:(((
They had their heartfelt confession and he died:(((
I feel I read this before
Also, Sev is definitely still a mess after all of this. But she's fine with that because despite it all she's got itngood. And even if she has to serve a "purpose" because of what she is, what greater purpose could she serve than family?
Also, who's your favorite C-20 out of all that?
Either 3 or 4
3 is like that one guy who's going off to war but did a promise to a lady, i really like that part.
4 is the big guy, the brick wall if you tried to kick him. Good terms with his family but doesn't have the time since he kept doing his job.
I have an account on Ao3 now
Yay
So dude, anything to write on?
(Bad Emperor Palpatine impression) Join the crazy ideas club. Let the madness flow through you.
I am not a good reader so doubt that I will be a good writer but I guess I could try to write a one-shot if I get a simple but interesting idea in my head
Actually I already have an idea but I'll let it sit for abit before trying to write it
Everyone starts somewhere
You can start simple writing
Everything is in your hands and mine was going batshit crazy because school is still on despite it's literally summer
But you can imagine everything you want to write on
I'll be one of the first to admit that complex, crazy ideas can be difficult to pull off so maybe don't start overly complicated
On its own, Ackerson Family could be its own thing and just plain family fluff
War happened
But the war that came before involves four games (or at the current moment five since Fuga has two games but whatever), seven confirmed sapient species sharing one planet, politics, moral concerns, questions on if your allies have ulterior motives, philosophical debates regarding what it means to be a person, what weapons can be used if it will win the conflict, and so on
Duh
Also...Howl's Moving Caste-I mean Tank is a thing (AKA the Taranis and its Soul Cannon)
Howl's Moving Castle
Also speaking of super tanks, is it just me or out of all military hardware tanks are the most used and made absurd?
Rifles, ships, artillery, all that I can buy even if it gets goofy (Warhammer 40K Bolter case in point)
Then you get the tank...
Everyone loves tanks so why not make them "better"
I mean this is going to be used because Fuga but still, WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A TANK LIKE THIS?
Halo's Scorpion makes more sense than this thing even with its quad track design. The AT-TE from the Clone Wars makes sense for a walker tank. The Taranis looks like a battleship conning tower grew tank treads
Wtf am I looking at
The Taranis, your mobile base of operations and only means of progress in Fuga
Well umm you see it kinda looks cool
It really looked like a battkeship
Also, big contention point in the war and in Fuga itself but the crew are kids... The leader is 12, his little sister is 4, average age is about...8 or 10 for twelve different partisan aboard a tank that is alive to a degree

So yeah... MORE MORAL CONCERNS BECAUSE YIPPE, A BUNCH OF KIDS ARE IN COMMAND OF A SUPER WEAPON CHANGING THE COURSE OF A WAR
did really that happened
That's literally Fuga as a game

JRPG insanity GO!
"Man, fk them kids." Makes them into child soldiers
More like partisans
I don't know what's the difference but partisans are really familiar from the game CoH2
Partisans, in this context, would be resistance guerilla fighters
Only instead of hunting rifles and molotov cocktails, these kiddies find a bloody tank that's the size of a large warehouse
So Fred... How much of a reaction do you think Anton will have of the Soul Cannon?
Who is probably questioning what that is and may be looking it up
The TV Tropes page or the actual Fuga wiki
Fuga soul cannon?
Or a review or watch a playthrough of the first chapter of the first game...
Game gives you BFG 9000, your party is the ammunition
Ryan on the frontlines is confused and just has to go with it because the world goes from insane to even more insane.
I won't be following the game 1 for 1
So no silly "child soul for ammunition" malarkey
That being said...the real official ammunition is impossible to produce and good luck finding a shell in a world that is radically different
That means the emergency last resort option is the only option
Welp, time to go (inserts in ammunition)
So...in Little Tail Bronx (which Fuga is a part of) a lot of technology runs on crystals. Said crystals by in-universe lore can be farmed and mined.
Playing a tad by Rimworld logic where micronanites situate everything, these crystal particles are indeed in everything. The soil, air, food, and people
In people it would be very refined and concentrated, especially given millenia of this specific planet being cultivated by advanced computer AIs
So...a high quality fuel source in a concentrated package...the crewmember
So the last resort is the only resort unless they can find a power cell that matches them in every regard
Gonna play RimWorld soon and research about it
If you got nothing to lose
Rimworld doesn't quite have that as research. Maybe the Anomaly items are a parallel example given the Archite tech
Where can I find some anomaly items?
Anomaly DLC
Probably the closest examples in base game would be the "Healer mech serum" or "Resurrector mech serum"
First can one injury and even regrow missing body parts
Two can bring back the dead
My morals cannot be question after a funger vid
Time to go batshit crazy in rimworld
I hate rats revolting against me

Actually, just remembered there can be some weird "illnesses" also
Is it by environment or by drugs?
Environment
These can be beneficial at the cost of pain and consciousness and they're random
If my colonists ever got hurt and not treated, they would get those illnesses?
Fibrous and sensory mechanites
Purely random due to the Storyteller, can only be treated to dull the pain, improves manipulation and other attributes but can only be "cured" by time
So I should wait until it goes away?
If you want a colonist to be a bum for up to two months at the worst...
Welp, better than doing nothing
And also, storage been a huge problem for me
They don't store rice in the storage zone
Long story short, this planet is saturated in nanotechnology and self replicating power crystals which will explain some of the more wild stuff
Check your storage settings. It can be a dumping zone or shelves (shelves are better in my opinion)
Also, set up a freezer for food?
Didn't have those
Been busy harvesting rice
And shelves are on furnitures, yeah?
Don't sleep on berry bushes or wild healroot
Why not?
Berries regrow and can be eaten raw with no penalties, wild heal root is free medicine that also regrows
So sleeping on them destroying them?
Alright, infinite food source
Can store 3 item stacks per tile
Thanks, my head been boggling about where to find the bench
Well, renewable until winter kicks in. A green house with hydroponics though would rectify that easily
Plants also take time to regrow. But for easy food and medicine that's free for the taking...
That wouldn't be too hard, right?
Uh...you should be in a temperate forest for your first colony right?
So expect snow, slower travel on the world map, crops dying due to temperature, and animals being rarer
I've started an arid colony and it's hard. Limited wood or animals, hot biomes run by their own rules
Does winter occurs on arid climates?
Not really
The tropics should be warm year round also
Though, heal root doesn't grow in the wild as well in these regions
Also, bugs may show up more often
Well where do they grow?
Temperate and cold areas
No ice sheets or sea ice, too cold and no soil anyway
As for bugs...they like caves, warm environments, immune to toxins, and can happen by random deep drilling if the storyteller hates you
Rng moment
You think red centipedes are bad? They go down to insecticide.
Red centipedes exists?
Rimworld bugs die of heatstroke before bruns, are tanks, fast, immune to toxic fallout, and are best dealt with by assault rifles (and no one likes eating them)
Flashback moments in Inv campaign
It's nearly midnight
Gonna go to sleep
Anyway thanks for the tips man
Yup
Night
Sleep well
BTW Fred, how goes Dadvulet 2.0?
Burn out sucks
Well, hopefully the burn heals and the motivation comes back
I hope that the motivation will come back if I start doing something else
That isn't drawing
Also, thoughts on how I'm handling the Soul Cannon?
Because I can't really explain "POWER THE GUN THROUGH YOUR LIFE FORCE ENERGY"
Like...ze bleeps is "life enegy"?
Life energy is your soul what else would it be
Well that aside, like my version?
Hopefully makes more sense than the actual game
Yes, let's build a land ship specifically piloted by teenagers with a main gun that uses said teenagers as ammo because we can't be arsed to figure out a different way to power it
The people who built it clearly haven't heard of the power of friendship smh
Pull a Rain World where the crew is purposed organisms in an even dumber way
Make a purposed organism specifically to act as ammo for the main gun
Who are also the crew
Just stuff 20 people in the tank
Just...why not use potato batteries?
Probably because you need have a planet sized potato to power the cannon once
Someone give them Void Fluid
And at that point you have a bigger problem than the problem you tried to deal with by powering the cannon with the potato
Wait...the Ancients would throw themselves into the cannon to cross themselves out
Nope, DON'T GIVE THE TARANIS VOID FLUID
What if taranis actually just shoots a gaint stream of void fluid ascending everything
Working on my second work
can't think of something
How's the art going @quasi blaze
I am not feeling like drawing right now
Taking rest?
The dadvulet, we taking breaks
Me causing chaos in the main chat aside, thought up something.
So remember the whole Iterator conversation in By the Numbers being around the idea of following SoS to retirement? Maybe I should show that retirement and her descendants...
It was only a matter of time until you finally start thinking about writing the iterators retirement
I am quite interested in seeing their retirement plan
I've commonly joked about Saint being a piano player in this setting
I'm thinking, the Saint during the war would be a descendant from Sliver who would be the original Saint and the first Iterator to retire
Also, that Saint would be a piano player in a band. Closest to the front they would get is probably a tour onto a base to entertain some troops on reserve
Makes sense considering you can't really get a piano on the frontline because of how big it is
Interesting that saint is a descendant of Sliver I wonder what knowledge he holds
By that point, not much. Might not even know his heritage. As far as the world would be concerned, he'd be a fuzzy green Slugcat with a slightly longer than usual tongue who plays the piano
How long has it been since Sliver retired?
I'm thinking centuries
Make sense then why Saint doesn't know his heritage
Now that would give plenty of time for a secret society organization to also form around that bloodline to work with the Iterators and other such groups
But for this particular guy? He's far removed from being purposed
Haven't really explored this but Ryan's ancestors would have been an aquatic tribe before someone decided to join the colony of Canal Bay as a citizen
Artemis would have come from a family who had cherrybomb plants all over the place historically, giving her natural explosives
The way I see it, Slugcats are a favorite for Iterators due to basically being Eevee's. Their DNA is very maleable but stable and adaptable, almost like clay
Still would see Scavengers bring used by the Iterators also but we haven't really seen them have a whole lot of diversity even with mods
I doubt you could make many modifications to scavengers considering their design
They are very slim compared to slugcats
No, but I can still see Iterators using them
Also...funny thing, I plan for FP to be behind Miros Vultures
They won't be mindless but more like guard dogs for him and Moon
Considering the places Miros Vultures hang out at...
Pebbles doesn't like getting disturbed from his work by beasts stumbling into his chamber
So he creates a flying killing machine
Also security measure
Arti can't get rid of all the tribal scavengers on the roof of his
Would also explain the laser/railgun in their face
So...not entirely sure how in-depth I want to dive into Artificer going on a personal war
Gets used when the pray is out of reach
To be clear, this version of Arti doesn't quite hate all Scavs... But she did go on a rampage
Lame smh
How I see it was that her settlement got raided by a particularly violent and expansionist tribe. She was one of the few to survive and got mad
She rallies a few others but it becomes clear she is just as violent, alienating her allies. By the end, she wins but is left with absolutely nothing
Nothing, but a trail of corpses, regrets, and a new title: the Crimson Killer
So...she just goes wandering around as a vigilante, trying to fight off other killers and looking for the one fight she can't win
I wouldnt say that she is left with absolutely nothing considering she did get a new cool title
There's still some compassion and empathy, but she really just wants it to end and she wants to go out fighting because she's the Crimson Killer, the modern monster of the Rainlands
At least she went out the way she wanted
So imagine how well that will be when she meets a coffee enthusiastic Ruffles and a compassionate Martin for squad mates
She's not going to be so one-dimensional, but it'll be obvious that she's bitter, jaded, and violent. She just wants to direct that negativity towards something that matters if she's going to be stuck with it. She made the biggest mistake of her life, now she has to live with it.
Fighting authoritarian, expansionist, narrow minded empires seems like a good place to direct that inferno and a war should have at least one battle she can't win
The way I see it, the stories where Artificer just becomes a complete mother hen seems out of character when it's established how violent she has become
But to just constantly stew like a Sith Lord seems...unrealistic also
So I figured a good middle ground
A violent, bitter, remorseful mercenary accepting her downfall trying to channel that rage while showing glimmering signs of who she used to be
Would it be insulting to say she just catches a stray round? I know anti-climactic but it would show just how unfair war is and yet she would go out fighting. Trust me, it will be a fight that does matter
I could accept that death even if I really dont like it
Besides, how many times do we see the "character gets shot but manages to hold on for a few last words" trope in war settings?
Alot I think
I know, it's not the "cinematic" death but in the end she goes out fighting and it'll matter to everyone else
Besides, something tells me when I get to Hannibal people are going to be angry about him going out because I do intend for him to be a likeable character (though not to the revered status Sev has for him since she's biased). Though, how can there be an Ackerson Family if Sev doesn't become an Ackerson?
Simple answer there can't be
I'll have the guts to kill characters, I just hope it's done in a way that's not a cop out or cheesy and will matter even if the way it does happen may seem like a cop out
Yeah random bullet may seem doing Arti dirty, but it's not intended to be that way. It'll be because war is unfair and it'll leave an impact on those around her.
Ever hear about Sgt. Basilone?
US Marines, WWII
Got a primary role in the show The Pacific
I don't think so
Earned the US Medal of Honor for fighting at Guadalcanal in the Solomons
Picked up a water cooled MG without a glove and burned his arms fighting all night, sometimes hand to hand
He was instrumental to holding the line because he got that gun firing even as it burned him
Came home as a national hero and went on tour. Best restaurants, actresses, country clubs, his face on magazines and newspapers
Convinced his superiors to send him back so he trained up a new regiment and went back to war
Yeah I never heard of him
Landed at Iwo Jima, a counts vary but he got killed during the landings
Didn't even see the flag get raised on the mountain. A living legend leads the charge and then BAM he's gone. Just like that
Damn
The show dramaticized it because...Hollywood. But the man was real and just as fast as his legend began his life ended, in an instant
I really don't know what to say
More fictional example
In Wargroove 2 one of the characters to that particular campaigns protagonist gets it also
Bog standard infantryman, no one even relevant, just armed with the most basic equipment
(His sprite was that of the common swordsman in the game even)
After the last mission, we get a cutscene saying he willingly stayed back as a rear guard against over whelming odds as the last thing anyone saw of him. Doesn't even get a cutscene death, just being told he died fighting so everyone else could run
So why did this guy matter? Because he was a friend to the protagonist and while the higher ups write him off as another casualty, to the protagonist he was more than than that
So...yeah
Feels kinda disrespectful
Well, hopefully the deaths I plan to have aren't too bad
I mean, I'm not going to have the violins and somber tone for everything but that doesn't mean just throw them to the side either
And Hollywood really overdoes it with the violins or going out in a blaze of glory
(That and surviving the impossible with no explanations which I won't have. Dues ex machina will have explanation and reason to dues ex machina)
Oh well... Anton when you come back how about you voice your thoughts? Clearly I'm going to make controversial decisions, might as well make them interesting and keep it civil.
War is like something that isn't biased or subjective. When you died, you really died. I remember a flash game playing about d-day and the first thing I stepped into was an artillery blast
Hell even a mg tracer rounds
And so as I watched some movies (such as Saving Private Ryan or Hacksaw Ridge) I have seen some brutality of war and began to do research about it
Been too much lately
Ah, a fellow WWII enthusiast who watches too many shows, documentaries, and movies and feels self-conscious so the decision is to U-turn and go look at more cheerful stuff
Anyway, the Sliver story will be titles "Saints of Sliver"
Figure it fits nicely given the characters and the "SoS"
I'll get on it in the near future
Nice
The only reason I got into history is because of CoD WaW
Then my mind expanded to every parts of the world not just ww2, and it even encourage me to look up into my national history
Believe it or not, I learned about the Boshin War and Japan's unification because of the Total War franchise...
I played the crap out of Empire and Napoleon Total War back in the 2010's
Aw man, I too want to play total war
Especially Rome 2 because I will definitely play as the gauls and fighting against an advanced empire
I think you can do that in Rome 1 which got remastered a few years back
But I don't if think my sister wanted another game in her laptop since I have Rainworld, Rimworld and Blasphemous there
Oh well
Just finished Cult of the Lamb and Hollow Knight months ago
Not sure if you've read part one of Leaps of Faith, but a colony I made became a nation in that story
Didn't read yet
College is ridiculous since I have a last exam and a fucking book binding
And here I thought summer was in my grasp
How were the exams?
If ya did your best, then nothing else to it
There's nothing I can do
And also just continuing my second work to take my mind off of it
And even playing a League game
I don't know why am I still addicted but that's the only thing I could spend time with
Think the League fighters complain about eating without a table?
Rimworld colonists, -3 mood for no table
Yes
I forgot to place table and they go mad
There's this one colonist who has this large penalty because they have an awful bedroom
Dude I'm just trying to learn the ropes here
Ya bitches are in the ass end of nowhere and you're complaining about no table?!
So dumb it's funny
It is funny
Okay rooms. Decent furniture obviously makes it better, flooring improves beauty and reduces filth, a larger room is less cramped, an air vent let's temperature control be easier if in a megastructure, and an end table and a dresser improve the room also. After that, artwork
Oh, and a light
What's the size of a normal room?
Again, my floor for my original colony was 4x4 which had a bed, dresser, end table, and a lamp. It was not the most spacious but it was serviceable for most
Alrighty, time for me to do a 6×6
Having recreational activities such as a horseshoe pin and chess table can also help early game. Flower pots can be cheap means of beauty indoors. Clothes will degrade over time and armor counts as well so if you don't have cotton, hunt animals and use leather for clothing. Parkas for cold winters, dusters for hot summers
Also, try to have passions match tasks. Faster work and people enjoy doing what they love
Yee but I have this lazy ass that don't have specific tasks
No passions?
Could just mine stuff
Set up work benches
Tailoring and art if you haven't gotten smithing
Tame some animals
The ongoing tutorial aside, ideas for Iterator names besides Sliver herself?
I'm thinking a mountain lake region with a local civilization built between the different Facility Grounds'
Hence, Sliver will have a valid excuse to be poofy
When she becomes a Slugcat that is
I don't know tho but gonna think of som
I can do this but, eh you guys enjoy it so I can share some of the fun
I do have something planned for this but I'll keep it to myself. Don't worry, it'll be worth the surprise
Aight
If I ask any of you, do you guys like had an ongoing story which stuck in your head, developing plots and not writing or typing?
Because I have
I did
Damn man, the feels
Probably Charlie
Bad thing I don't know how to draw clothes
But to respond, nah, that's not Charlie
Nah
Yeah idk
A clue would help you?
Probably
He is too tall for doors
Four?
Someone forgot to go to the gym
Forgor gym
I just had to do it
Daww
Two meter tall, barrel chested, capable of lifting a truck, absolute goliath of Slugcat for a urban combat specialist/police officer and here he is being friendly is definitely something

Also just for some context of how much of a wrecking ball I envision Four to be when he's in combat and not being a friendly giant: Imagine one of the operators in Rainbow 6 Siege carrying an LMG like it's an AR, towering over everyone else, capable of ramming his way through walls, and has 360 degree spacial awareness
Would be wearing a spetnaz helm along with eod suit
If we're pulling the COD Juggernaut then yeah
And I can imagine him holding either an M60 or a PKP like a rifle indeed
That scug was built to be a tank
M60 more than PKP in my head but either or
But if it's like 1950 or 1960, it would be like a Browning
Three for the record would be like a World War grenadier
He ain't afraid of a bullet, it would only bounce off to him
Maybe I'm gonna draw Three or Five next
Speaking of grenadiers, I now have an image stuck in my head... WWI German trenchraider carrying an obscene number of grenades on his back...
Stormtroopers
The level of firepower Three carries in his mouth...
Three is like a trench raiding unit, with those kinds of explosives
Maybe some elite Italian units from ww1
Which they only carried knives and a fuckton of nades
Trench raider with WWII weapons and training more like it...and that's assuming he's not getting the special stuff from AIs, Iterators, or Alejandro the Mechlord Vampire
Just raw power and strength?
(Oh and speaking of Alejandro, he is an actual Xenotype from Rimworld. He's a Sanguophage)
The one said it has different abilities that would made the game difficult?
With brains. Three and Four are the heavyweights in the family in terms of direct firepower but they are just as smart to match. That's what makes them terrifyingly effective
But if I may ask, which among the seven is the strongest?
Physically or overall combat prowess?
Four is physically the strongest, One is the smartest and most cunning
It's not exactly clear and cut due to their specialties
I see
I made a joke once that NSH is playing an arena shooter with his Legionaires and Hunters, Suns is playing a hero shooter
Let's just stick with physical and combat then
So...Sig is playing old-school COD (original Modern Warfare? Never really played those games) and Suns is playing Overwatch
Moon with Pebbles are playing Hearts of Iron meanwhile
In terms of blank arena...probably would be a showdown between Three and Four. They are built purely for heavy fighting and have the intelligence to back it up.
Damn
Imma put my money with the big guy
But when playing chess against each other, who would likely make a tie?
Can One read minds?
She may need to think a bit but she would win decisively
No she can't
As for poker...Sev would lose. Surprisingly, the Slugcat with probably the blank face would have the worst poker face
She's REALLY bad at poker. Spying, espionage meets ups, assassinations, interrogations, she can do all that...but poker she is just awful at and it infuriates her
Welp, that's one trait for it
Which would make a scene I have in mind probably even better
I can imagine she would throw the cards away in frustration as one of them take all the bets
So the Taranis is crewed by kiddies right? Said kids do know how to play poker to pass time and as much of a ruthless spy as Seven is, she would have the heart to indulge them. So imagine her getting agitated while losing to a four/five year old little girl who somehow is a natural st the game
She would be absolutely PISSED and she would continue doing it because the kids are having fun
Hey, she's an efficient black ops soldier not heartless
If I ask, which of the seven are likely the heartless? (Imma exclude Sev since she has a family)
Probably a toss up between Two or Six. Two is naturally wary and cynical, Six has the charisma of a potato and ghosts his own family for years
Actually, Two more than Six
Two is like paranoid because of how she is perceptive towards her surroundings
Six is just bad at socializing but he doesn't go out of his way to voice his opinions. Two is abrasive, uncaring on what she says, and unless it matters she couldn't give a damn about something or someone
Yeah basically
I kinda like the dude and he'll definitely ghost everyone
I can imagine after a family reunion (which everyone should stay together like a week) and he would disappear after the party.
That
And it would took three days to notice he's gone
Actually, if FP didn't go bonkers I could see Six having his mentality honestly
Speaking of FP, how did FP met Arti on your fic?
For this family? They'd notice pretty fast
Alright, after a day would do
Kinda the same way as in-game. She's hunting the war band that murdered her community, they fortify themselves in Metropolis, she chases after them and puts them down with Pebbles reluctantly consenting due to them causing chaos to the other tribes
But after she decimated that warband, did she still stick to fighting or did she have some dillemas?
Way I see it, goes to a bar to get plastered (again) before resigning her fate to being a form of violent justice
And she died during the war?
Yeah... A monster fighting to put down another group of monsters with megalomanical goals
Damn, she did went out with a bang
But understandable since death may be a blessing for her after her community were destroyed
As I said yesterday, she catches a stray round during a firefight. Not a glorious, Hollywood showcase with somber violins, just a battle in a bunker out in the ass end of nowhere stopping maniacs
I can remember that one scene in fury where there's a dude trying to bring ammo for their mg on the sherman then he died from a sniper shot just like that. Just pure chaos and no somber scene or something
And the fighting continues until it's over and then it's off to the next meat grinder
I told Fred about Sgt. John Basilone from WWII
Yes, it only stopped until the sherman crew died out (except one who was hiding underneath the dead machine)
No resurrection mech serums in this conflict (which would be hell because WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO COME BACK INTO THIS FIASCO?!)
No res? (Insert image)
But I can imagine Arti would do war crimes
War is a chaotic state of one place, there's no rules now if they've spent there too long

In the army she'd be more concerned about the idiot coffee drinker and field medic than causing shit.
Shooting medics are a priority
Yeah, maybe those two would be great concern
But does Martin hold a gun in his life?
Sidearm but he's more concerned about being a medic than what games show
But does he shoot?
Outside of hunting bugs and desperate situations, no
To be honest, Artemis is not really going to go out of her way to commit war crimes. Explosive, loud, and violent yes, but she doesn't really want to just cause misery and she has others to hold her back
She may be a monster but she didn't start as one
The world is already as broken and jaded as she is. If she can spare others some of that pain, then she damn well is going to do that, there's enough killers out there
If she killed a killer, the number of killers on the world stayed the same. But she ain't stopping with one killer
I plan to have a line from the main protagonist: I've met good people who have done terrible things...I know I've done plenty of my own...
Have you ever played Valkyria Chronicles? Specifically VC4?
Good strategy JRPG...also WWII addition
One of the main characters in VC4 is crude, violent, and abrasive. You know when he opens his mouth something is going to happen
BUT he's loyal and has a moral compass even despite being an aggressive lunatic
Any works working on?
Still need to get A Hamronic Symphony done... What was I thinking in 21 when I started it?
Man all the reading I have done recently had a very noticeable effect on my eyesight
Maybe I should read less
Is your brightness high?
Font size maybe?
I try to keep my brightness in the middle but it doesn't matter since my phone changes it automatically anyways and I can't turn that off
(BTW, I know I'm painting the war as nothing but doom and gloom. But I'm not aiming for Warhammer. There's going to be plenty of light hearted moments. Ruffles and Martin bickering over coffee, Seven and Hannibal being friends, Taranis crew getting into hijinks while traveling, stuff like that)
No, let's not do this: https://youtu.be/G5SSD8hVQrg?si=8uUvWu4gEJGmigKH
Now speaking of Warhammer, I have a story (which is unrelated to RW) which was still ongoing and has some warhammer vibes
Thanks for the link
If you watch the series, actually watch the sponsor sections. They are funny
Do the sponsors are entertaining to watch?
More like the tie in goofiness
The Megacorp video: "I had to wake up early in the morning to murder baby seals with an oil tanker which made me rich...somehow"
Aight, gonna watch for the improvement
And also last exam
I'm going to sleep early and be done with freshman
But that would be a lie since I already adapted to sleep at 12 am
I'll upload the picture later, got stuff to do
Y'know, seeing this makes me uncertain if I should continue or nah
Been doing that since last year but I continued from the past six months
Picture got posted. Also, you may notice that both the Peacetime Photos and Leaps of Faith are now a part of the "Songs of Alcenta" series
So...welcome to the world of Alcenta chaps

If it helps, knowing when to call it can save yourself the time, energy, and aggravation. Not everything is meant to be
But I'd say give it an honest effort. It's your work and only you can decide on if you want to continue
But I doubt anyone on that kind of fandom would read it
Which fandom?
Ooh, haven't played but I take a look in there every now and then
I mean, I might very well be the only guy writing ANYTHING for Wargroove
If you're comfortable writing it and pull it off well, then it can be a good read. I mean...look at Game of Thrones
I started to play 2018 and ended at 2020 due to lost of save and now I'm unmotivated
Haven't watched tho
Read only one book
And if it means anything, I'm constantly yelling at myself to finish a story I started in 2021, put on hiatus in 22, and have issues remembering to finish now
Books are expensive
Is this the curse of being a writer?
One of them
never thought we would reach that point
Main chat can give more advice, opinions, and perspectives. If you really don't like it, shelve it or even delete it. If you still have energy, I personally say go for it
I will tho, just to finish my other stories first since that story contained 2k words or more (every chapter)
Believe it or not, I started a setting in 18, spent years writing it, didn't like it, probably put 100K words into it between revisions, shelved it, started a new story in that same setting in late 2020, and I finished that one back in April
That I'm going to keep to myself but my point is a setting can go to unexpected places

I wrote myself into a situation that needed a dues ex machina and wasn't satisfied but I took the universe and wrote a new story from the ground up with the material I had
Rewriting but still on the same universe?
Different scenario and characters, but effectively yeah
And while I need to edit the hell of it, I feel pretty good about what I wrote there for a first draft
And in terms of obscure games, look who you're talking to

A Symphonic Harmony has Hyper Light Drifter, Wargroove 1, Barotrauma, Endless Legend, and Verdun
What I have in store has Fuga: Melodies of Steel, Rain World, Rimworld, and Wargroove 2
I know a bit of Barotrauma but every games you said is not familiar
(Wargroove 2 wasn't announced when I started Symphonic)
Right now, Symphonic IS the most viewed and Kudoos'd story for Wargroove
Also the longest currently
22 chapters
I like Wargroove 1 and 2, I like the games I play, I like what I write, and I'm going to write the story I want to write
But soon tho, gonna plan a swashbuckling adventures in summer
Your tastes are your own and the story you want to write is your own. So...have fun
Have at it
Speaking of Hamilton...I was thinking of "You'll be Back" for another primary character
But I can't think of a third song for probably the main protagonist
But kinda developed that You'll be back, like one of his creation rebelled against him
Les Miserables "Who am I?" for Hannibal:
Hamilton "You'll be Back" for Lytra (Wargroove 2 standin):
I think there's the Netflix version? I need to watch it also
Can't afford Netflix
Now what to do for Malt (Fuga and main protagonist)?
Man, sending kids in a tank is a different story
If it helps, everyone else isn't thrilled with the idea either
I already read some articles about child soldiers but didn't expect them into a tank crew
Plus using a life as an ammunition
war is hell
That's before we include the biomechanical Rain World stuff, Rimworld pyschics, and Fuga's own brand of ancient chaos
JRPG WWII on distant planet go!
We do love creating bioweapons of mass destruction
Now speaking of biomechanical, I'm gonna write a scug who will be saved by LE
time to write some horrors about science
Anyway, despite it's 5 am in the morning, I'm gonna prepare for my (last) exam and be done with freshman
I fking love college
Anyway gtg :))
Best of luck
So, any celebrations?
No cheesecake?
There's no food tho, it's not fiesta nor birthday
But if there's a celebration, it would be a lechon :)))
So while I haven't started Saints of Sliver yet, I was wondering about some worldbuilding
Never taste cheesecake before
So what do ya want for the setting?
This is going to be first A deep in the Rainlands and B starting well before major colonies are set up
Don't ask why exactly these two but I'm thinking the civilization in SoS's group is either going to be based on the Kongo or the Khemr due to me thinking Civ 6
I'm thinking also her group would be the Mountain Lake group
Essentially, a massive lake where the Iterators are built on the natural islands
The locals consolidated into a pocket empire in and around the lake
So if there's any muskets, it's due to the cherrybomb plants
Huh...may need to look at Shogun 2 again for some old school medieval inspiration
Now...just need to figure out a medieval Rain World civilization that grew up in the ruins of the Old World and advanced naturally.
Guess it's time to bring the main group into the loop huh?
Sorry if I haven't answered
Near the mountains are ok to be honest
So we talking about the current setting of the 1960's or dated way further back in the past?
For Saints of Sliver?
Yee
I'm thinking we start like 700 to a thousand years earlier
Alright, medieval time
And it goes down the family line to right before the war
I put a bit of an info dump in the main chat
So it's about Saint and Sliver ye?
Sliver is Saint?
A descendant makes it
Or we've reached the point of the setting of the war
The "modern" Saint is a pianist who played on the radio for morale purposes
Another I'm thinking would have been a holy guardsman and secret society member
I think Saint would be better off as a radioman
Seeing them on combat is like a different one
While I don't want to go Warhammer, you know how the Empreror needed basic humans to back up his Marines due to a critical lack of immediate manpower?
Are we talking the fantasy or the grimdark of 40k?
He would be well behind the front. He'd be at a radio station with a band
I see
If the purposed organisms are thr Marines, the secret societies are the common Guardsman
Not every secret society is related to the Iterators, different continents and what not
But in the Rainlands where there's Iterators? Well the Iterators and their creations can't be everywhere...
So, Sliver obviously would still be in contact with the group she helped make
One of her descendants would also be a member and still serve...while facing the dilemma of loyalty to the state
What sorts of dilemma?
Loyalty to the bigger picture in protecting the world or loyalty to the empire and its interests?
Holy crap
Which will be a thing everywhere, even up to the war
That kind of shit would make them really considered
That guy knows of his ancestry and a good idea as to what is beyond walls of the city. But what if the governor doesn't care and wants power AND has permission to exploit those things?
That's an example but a lot of societies face that issue throughout and I plan to show some during the war.
I mean, the government has power. You can't do anything
Personal interests, loyalty to the cause or to your home, what do you do?
That's very hard tho
The Iterators might be puppet masters, but they don't control everything
Jumping to modern times, One is in command of nearly the entire Peninsula Sector through a web of alliances, backroom treaties, and secret society arrangements. This also jumps official map borders between colonies
Local tribes are pathfinders, frontiersmen are light infantry, merchants keep the network together both through trade and espionage, police and militia garrisons are the armed forces for their immediate area, govoners and judges are in trying to keep the peace within their borders and abroad
All of that and One sits at the top of this
Wait for real?
That's the idea
Never thought that would expand to that
Now...imagine parts of your little shadow empire HAVE to go to war with each other due to their homelands commanding them to do so...
Loyalty to the nation or to the alliance? No one can stop it, the best One can do is just minimize the damage
That would cost resources, manpower and eventually could crash an economy on each nations
Better yet, if One could manage all of that. How does everyone still oblivious to her works?
Look at WW1, the empirea of Europe tore themselves apart and ordered their colonies to do the same
Yeah that shit happened
The Rainlands see familiar with these gigs and go with it. Abroad doesn't have a bunch od ancient calculators influencing stuff
Ok that seems fair enough that they are being used
Well, Alejandro the Vampire plays a more direct role by dispatching his drone legions assist but he's an exception
So how you gonna pull off Sliver to Modern Saint?
Different "Saints" at different times
So start with Sliver and then to Saint during the Great War or something
Over time
Alright, so picking to Ancient Khmer empire
Basically, Sliver is going to be the first Iterator to have kids the natural way... No I'm not writing that scene
No more
I read too much
I can now easily imagine things such as gore, violence and even that
Not going there so don't worry
Thank you
I can still easily formulate scenes like those
But to matters attend, what does Sliver do when it's her nearly her time to retire?
And where did she went as she left her place
I'm thinking her immediate area was secure, she ensured there would be infrastructure to keep her work going once she was gone, and spin some religious tales about what she was doing
As much as Pebbles claims he is a "god", her group perpetuates that statement as a means of control and to validate the reasons as to why say a clinic can cure the plague or why strange warriors visit and use holograms
As to where she went, why not the city she once resided over? Most of her infrastructure is there and no one is going to question the strange new Slugcat when they see several visit already
A machine god turned into a mortal scug and helped everyone with her miracle
Just like the bibble :)))
More like she set things up before becoming mortal but I guess?
I mean, does she retained her godly powers after becoming mortal?
She can't cram the powers of an Iterator into a Slugcat so she doesn't bother. The way I'm seeing it, she wants to live a life the way everyone else does
So a set up would do
Probably along the lines of spreading the story that the local goddess desired to live amongst her subjects and has been reborn. No one would know it's her but it wouldn't be a lie and an easy sell to the populace
But do they noticed that she isn't active in her infrastructure?
Advance notice
Like it actually took time after they notice she's gone?
For obvious reasons also, her little plan is going to be controversial to the other Iterators
They'll be alarmed that they'll die soon enough
More like she ensured the infrastructure she set up was self sustaining, she sent out "devine" messages to the populace to notify them, and worked with both her creations and others in the area to pull it off
I see, it was all planned out
More confused and alarmed on whether they should follow her example. After all, she's free from purposes and burdens. Was it right to just retire or selfish?
But there'll be a megalomaniac who wants power
Or a scientist that would like to make a breakthrough of the current world (like LE)
What about the remaining facilities, rogue purposed organisms, stuff abroad, the civilizations and tribes here, the original Great Problem, how to survive as an ordinary being? The Iterators are going to loose their shit over this debate because their creations retire but what about them?
There are others would stick to their own rules since their creator long vanished
I suppose I should give some context as to the Old World...
Uh, spoilers for what I have planned and Fuga
No spoilers
Nevermind
I have been through worst after seeing a spoiler
Ruined many things and all excitement lost
Well, not sure if in Rimworld you've ran across a hidden room yet but I know there's at least one ruin laying about and Rain World you're practically crawling over them
Even millenia later, there are things out there. The Iterators know what those things are and can do. They don't want a repeat and their original purpose is kinda pointless. Might as well try to make the world better
Just...what happens when someone decides they're done with trying to fulfill a purpose because they were built to solve problems?
You do watch or play Ultrakill?
No
After seeing a vid
"a machine that built to end war, will always start a new one."
What if there are others who aren't done because they caused some problems?
So...that actually will be a thing also
I mean, just look at the Taranis
A tank that changes the fate of a war while being controlled by a few preteens? What nation wouldn't want that as a means of security
Imagine what an actual trained team of soldiers could do if a bunch of kids were able to win
That could change things real quick
I mean for crying out loud, Malt is the leader of the bunch and he was a twelve year old farm boy who didn't even want to go on an adventure
If a bunch of inexperienced kids to use a war machine to win a war, an experienced tank crew can get the job done without even using a living sacrifice
Forget that, a group of farm kids won by using sheer overwhelming fire with the basic ass guns on the tank

No flanking maneuvers, no hold down, just shoot the problem until it goes away
They pull an Engineer from TF2: Use gun. If that doesn't work, use more gun
Besides, how exactly large the taranis is?
Hear hear :))
Warehouse size
So...maybe four to five story tall building? Games don't give specifics
Holy crap
That being said, I'm going to have Malt be a smart cookie
A decent supertank need like 30 or more
And while a bit...gamey...I'll have reasons to validate its game mechanic features
The bloody thing has a small farm in the cargo hold? Hydroponics. The bedroom heals injuries? Barracks doubles as a medical bay complete with auto docs built into the beds. Self repair and seemingly never runs out of ammo? Atomic furnace and synthesizer
It's more than a tank
It's a supertank
It's a mobile command post and small scale factory all at once
an actual war machine
Now imagine being Ruffles and you're fighting alongside this thing for a very good reason...
Badass Ruffles is badass
He could see the mountains from afar if he ever climbed up
And be like "hey, that's my friend's house over there, far from the frontlines."
Also...this isn't the only front going on
Remember how Three was busy abroad? Different front at that time
Ye
Having different fronts are very, very complex in war
You don't what's happening on the other one
You have the Royalty DLC?
I don't but I know it gives Mechanoid bases in Rimworld
Take a guess what Three is up to while the nations are fighting, helping organize a revolution, and a number of rebellions all at once
Yup...he's trying to stop the rise of the Mechanoids
Oh they're scary in the game but I'd say worth the challenge. Also, Biotech let's you build your own and fight boss battles against them
But the one I have planned as a side bit? He's going to be very different from your average rogue military AI
Extermination? The wrong way to do it. Enslavement? Nope. Mesh flsh with steel? That went in the Rainlands and look at how well that turned out.
No...give the people what they want
The nation's flock to power, strong central leadership, emperors, warlords, and militaries
Give them a strong central leader that will give them all the security they could ever want with a leader that will never die
They want legions of soldiers of steel? Give them entire armies of soldiers that don't feel pain, fear, or death
Soulless and remorseless beings
They want to do away with national borders? One world with one goal
Give the people what they want
And they will submit to the new Archotech of Alcenta willingly
Nation that united all of them?
Or, being Palpatine by manipulating the existing conflict to entice the populace to hand power over willingly

That's what Three has to go up against for ancient terrors
But he managed to survive all of that
With help from Five, other combat units, and local forces but yeah
He survives and goes on to other campaigns until he realizes he has a kid
Yup
Man I'm sucker for a dude who went to war and after that, he realizes that he has a kid and went back for him to see
Actually, that assignment was after the war
I see
ANOTHER problem reared its ugly head and he was on hand
Anyway, how goes your writing?
Managed to write a teaser for chapter 3
I can't put 1.2 so that'll be chapter 2 after that
Anyway, want to read of how's LE doing?
I'll take a look when it's ready
Gonna have full rest for the writing for tomorrow
It's a new a day
No more college
Anyway gonna post it real soon
And we'll continue the Sliver of Saint soon as I'll get me energy back
I am finally feeling like the motivation to draw is starting to come back
Yeah
I did quickly read thru it so that I wouldn't miss any information
Gonna put the drawing of Two on hold and instead draw something else
And don't worry dadvulet 2.0 will be done
I'll bet his coffee mug and his mustache will be GLORIOUS
Maybe if get this trend going, we can officialize "Dadvulet" in the Rain World community
It's gonna take awhile to actually do that
The mustache will be perfect I am sure of it
Probably out of all the Fishstick stories/series out there and I'm still pretty sure this is the only one where the two of them are actually parents
Also, no one else has Dadvulet
Dadvulet is our treasure
Everyone else: Rivulet should be kept away from coffee lest he become Hammy the squirrel from Over the Hedge
Us: Ryan drinks his morning coffee and says nasty words when his fingers get shocked by a boat engine at work
Oorah :)))
Alright, finished the third chapter of work
So question for you guys: I wasn't really planning for Sliver to carry over her Iterator powers when becoming a Slugcat but A it wouldn't really be Saint without some kind of craziness and B she'd probably have something up her sleeves to ward off dangers. Given her latest descendant is a pianist and I link a lot of stuff to genetics, ideas on what to give her? Maybe bionics?
It wouldn't be saint if it isn't saint
But it would be interesting if she planned everything in a quick time
Pulse gun arm? Hey, I'm already going to have pulse weapons so not the most outlandish thing
Saint is fuzzy green Iron Man...fantastic
Random mugger: Give me your money.
Saint: blasts them with pure light.
Mugger: screams in agony
Well, again I'm leaning towards bionics. Not the flying part but I could see the "Ascension" along the lines of what Pebbles does when he gets fed up with you
Psychic brain shock?
Telekinesis?
So uh...strangely Fuga might be the source of rescue here
Any ideas on your mind?
Okay, remember me mentioning the entire atmosphere and all organic life is filled with nanotechnology particles?
That was not by accident and is cannon in Little Tail Bronx
So...certain individuals can manipulate those nanites, almost as if by magic
Small particles that could disguise as supernatural powers?
Create shields, explosions, to a degree manipulate technology, not sure if healing factor is involved but let's add that in
That's kinda good tho
Essentially, looking at the world's code and fiddling with it
One of the party members in Fuga can literally create a passive healing mid battle and if she hits with her later powers, she HITS HARD
Sometimes I rarely think some nanotech could heal some parts like stitching up flesh or mending metal
The metal is more likely given the Taranis is confirmed to be made out of "nanometal"
Anyway, I'm thinking Sliver bridges this with Rain World biomechnics
She uses bionics and her descendants are able to brain blast stuff...but some branches of the family tree have forgotten about this
Some would indeed forgot about their ancestry
But does the modern Saint knows about the bionics?
Oh, the bionics would have been Sliver for herself
She built a tank body to cover her basis because she is literally the first Iterator to retire and wanted to cover all basis
The bionics are an insurance and can be a cover. She would be recognized as one of those "chosen by the gods" so to speak but the regular person wouldn't know she is the god in mortal form
OOOOH, I'm liking this!
In a civilization that knows about purposed organisms and respects them? It'll be a pretty good cover
Are there like cults or a zealous group?
That's something down the line one of her descendants would have to deal with
Like they are already know that they are made?
Not born?
I imagine they would know that they are purposed
Hm...
The Rainlands have been dealing with Iterator meddling for millenia
Because there is a pretty big difference between purposed and natural slugcats if not biologically then mentally
The folks there have gotten pretty smart as to what would be an odd adaptation and what would be a purposed organism
The people: seeing there's a potential bioweapon that could wipe out a population.
Also the people: Hey look, an another Tuesday of the gods
It's everyone abroad who are ignorant to what's going on
Average day in Rainlands
Man, if we ever live in that place, do we even survive?
