Middle of nowhere vibes
/lh
just let it become a reality again, at least this year
It's always so pretty when the snow has recently fallen and all trees have a layer on them
I've always loved ice and snow; the grand taiga biome is my favourite minecraft biome
Taiga and jungle to be precise, love the badlands as well. Perfect for building.
snow is already beginning to melt again, a shame
Aww.
i can just feel the cold from this video
that may or may not have to do with how cold it is here tho
They don't count, they wear shorts in that weather.
That's extremely warm if you live away from any shores
In which book is -5 extremely warm?
No
Well it feels pretty chilly but in comparison to like -30 on the shore then yeah that is very warm
What???
Moisture is a temperature multiplier
There fore -5 while living next to a shore will feel like -10 inland
Because alot of moisture in the air
I considered 35°c is warm
Also, enjoying my cheese ice cream tonight
whar?
I want snow
so pretty
Sorry, felt a bit awkward.

Alright, have a good day
Happens!
Mmm why thank you I think I will
I’m taking today off from school
Maybe I’ll even write? Hmm

As long as you have fun

biking to work and back with those temperatures is hell
and you get snow in your face as well
but drivers licences are so expensive
At least to this point a bus will take me
poker night anyone?
@night lily ?
Sure! Starting now? I have to grab coffee first
yep suburban
what if i dont know how to play poker
I didn't
it was fine
you'll just be confused for a bit
but it's fun!
Anyone is welcome :3c
I have to leave for now, but if anyone is interested, now the game is something very related to stories chat
And you call banan old?
/lh
Experienced veteran.
it seems i was 15 when i started writing
If you haven't told others yet, we now know your age

Hey, a random artist just dumped me an art and they said, "Do whatever you will." And agreed to be anonymous.
ORTERS, RATE THEIR ART

I like the artstyle
The first and probably last they will draw the scug as I told them about the progression of character development
||(giving them trauma)

Wawa/10
-# This is the reply of the anonymous artist
this reminds me of the kagune from tokyo ghoul
Been so long of tokyo ghoul

I'm still on the first season for 9 years now
Because relatives told me the other seasons were bad
season two is iffy but very heartbreaking for the ending
i havent been able to watch :re so i dunno abt it. ive only read nine volumes of its mange

fuck i just woke up

Progression is imminent
Just leave the OCs alone!!!! /lh
What did they ever do to make you do this?! /lh /silly
Nothing but only for entertainment of the audience 🫵

@austere hawk Some good vanilla plus mods I recommend are:
Push to meow
Lizard eggs
Pups+
Pups for everyone
Must have mods:
Merge fix (Fixes a lot of the bugs in the game, is allowed for speedruns and challenges. It also makes mod loading better)
Regions:
Shrouded assembly (new creatures, items, regions. Super high quality)
Preservatory + hanging gardens (Preservatory is mod of the year for me. Go in blind, it is really special. These two regions connect to shrouded assembly, coral caves, stormy coast. Coral caves and stormy coast will be in the dlc, though, so up to you if you want to enable them)
Sunlit trail (New region expansion, adds a lot of creatures and regions)
Can you get preservatory without the watcher regions?
Yeah
I really wanna go into watcher as blind as possible
i also recommend sunlit trail. so pretty
I hate the ending for the preservatory mod. :/
It connects to shrouded assembly region, namely ||steaming edifice|| (region name spoiler)
I’ll finish surv and see if cy wants to go through shrouded and perservatory
Shhhh
||I love it, I think it's very well done. || (don't click banan)
Thank you for the recommendations!
Also don't click: || It is well done, I just hate that fate for the slugcats. :( ||
||Arguably it is a good ending, though. Very bittersweet. Does it really matter if the new reality isn't "real"? It is a happy one.|| (huge preservatory spoilers, don't click)
I've seen a mod for Hunter floating around too, that adds another ending/adds an NSH area.
soilers
Yeah, I didn't like it, though.
What does lizard eggs do
I mean obviously, lizard eggs, but it that like a hatch to tame thing?
The NSH area is FP's rooms but green, literally.
Yes
It is a scrapped alpha feature, it's very well done.

(More preservatory spoilers) || I would say it does matter, since it's just an illusion - i.e, in Survivor's ending, Monk never gets to be with them again; in Artificer's, the pups never reunite with their mom again, etc. It's just giving up and taking a hollow illusion, instead of ever getting what they actually were after, and that's just... sad. :( ||
Here, you can click on this one: || Wheeeeeeeee! ||
soiler immune
(i will forget later)
Thank you I needed that
I still haven't made it to the preservatory yet
still in the H||anging|| G||arden||
You're || welcome. ||
Two other goated regions are Arid Barrens and Gilded Sanctuary
The mast is super good too
Huge changes depending on the timeline
The Mast's ||very top|| is so good
Does that take you up one of those huge spires?
Maybe...

It has a new ending location for spearmaster, just sayin'
Mods… finally, mods
Lemme know if you need help finding preservatory, it is a little hidden away.
Oh, I almost forogt
Check out the escort
||kinda disappointing to me imo, then again I misread it at first as new ending not just location||
Best modded scug.
Shrouded assembly, hanging gardens and preservatory

Those are my recommendations.
Aye aye
If you need help, lemme know.
Recommended scug is surv
Also I got spoilered on oneshot by a random YouTube video
Hit me with the one line big spoiler. Or maybe it’s not that big idk
What is it?
maybe it's not that big
||that the title is literal||
||you’ve got one shot and lil buddy doesn’t make it if you leave
||
Maybe that’s not a big deal to know
Oh good
4 years in the making, shrouded assembly is out! Trailer made by the incredibly skilled Alduris, music made by the talented Sidera (Sideramusic on bandcamp). 2(?) rainworld regions with 500+ screens and a slew of new content
I love shrembly's music
Oh, that's probably the first/old version too, ||in the current version you can't really 'leave'||
I wanna go in blind
I trust you that it’s good
I especially wanna be surprised by any new creature additions
Since with original RW I had most of the wildlife spoiled by the ecosystem video that first got me interested
The hardest part with playing modded is actually finding the region gates
Can you point me in the right direction? I’m currently at the sky islands/chimney gate
||Farm arrays||
i heard complaint of camerascroll and I raise you Screen Peek
Cool, time to get lost in the worst region
The specific room: ||Farm arrays, near the scav treasury.https://rain-world-downpour-map.github.io/map.html?slugcat=yellow®ion=LF&room=LF_C01||
An online interactive map that includes every region and slugcat in Rain World: Downpour. - github.com/rain-world-downpour-map
I had a hard time finding the entrance to Far Shore before
Let’s you see adjacent screens?
Should I try to find it on my own first or is it really obtuse
Don't download camera scroll, it increases load times and has a bunch of graphical glitches
ya. keybind + direction to look at screen above, below, beside you
I won’t, I dislike it
Uh, up to you.
This seems muuuch better than scroll
If you just want to try the regions without exploring vanilla stuff, check the message I sent you
Do these mods make any changes to vanilla regions, like adding creatures
Some do

You have to start a new campaign for it, though
None of the mods I've recommended to you change vanilla region spawns
@iron totem
Qhar?
I have all the required mods.... the only thing missing is 'forsaken station code stuff' but that's not listed in workshop?
Can you enable it?
no
silly devs
A
do you guys like merfolk

🐟
i keep drawing some help i am obsessed
Um, isn't this a squid, actually?
/lh
Lovely art
I do love eating some sea creatures
(either shellfish or fish)
sea guy
vampire squid!
Love it
Vampire squids are so cool.
red my favorite color
Ah yee, the vampire squi-
remembered a certain video, triggered thalassophobia
-# but still, they look rad
A small beak can deliver high toxins
And really squishy despite being big brained
the only hard part of their bodies is the beak

Msc lore is scary

Not sure I agree with that... I do think Saint is an Echo and have my own headcanon about what it is, but I don't think the normal Echoes work that way. We are able to see from the other campaigns that the Echoes have some influence on the world around them, and even though it's hard to say what would be different between an Ancient and a slugcat Echo, you would think Saint would have some influence outside itself, too.
The Ancient Echoes seemed to be painfully aware they couldn't do anything beyond watch the world around them and talk to creatures, so you would think Saint would experience that too, if it was just as trapped as the other Echoes. Not have a hallucination where it changed things.
Plus in the ending art Saint is just holding the threads that are tying up the other Echoes, which I think symbolizes it isn't as trapped as they were.
-rambles-
Holding? It seems like those things are a part of them now.
As you can see, what used to be their arms and legs now are the echo tendrils.
I don't think saint is a normal echo, though.
Okay so this is very fixable until the mod author updates the reqs file- you can update it yourself. If you open steam, scroll through your library to Rain World, right click → Manage → Browse Local Files it'll open up the games files. You can click "steamapps" in the explorer address bar to go back to that folder and find the workshop folder. You're going in there according to the folders you can see in the first image.
312520 is Rain World's steam ID, 3316476691 is the mod's workshop ID.
Then you just open the modinfo file (highlighted) and remove the requirement from the dependency list (highlighted again)

I just went and did this myself
And as far as I can tell- yeah, it works. I loaded into the regions fine
The right-angles for the 'threads' just seem different to me. It's like Saint's hands/feet are resting on the threads, or that it's holding the threads (think like a spear?). Plus the threads don't all pull to one spot, like with the Ancient Echo; they're just kind of all out to the sides. If each one is supposed to be a karma level - gluttony, rage, etc - it could symbolize that Saint has a connection to them, allowing it to get 'back' from the void sea, but isn't tied down by them, the way the other Echoes are.
Hmm, interesting?
Or it could be something related to ascension. The golden shades we see on creatures in the Rubicon, or in the Survivor ascension endings. It might be more related to what's beyond the void sea than with being drawn back to the cycle.
It could also just be that whoever made that art went "damn, echo saint looks kickass, i'm gonna draw them like this"
Actually, saint's ending is one of the few things the devs agreed upon.
#downpour-lore message As stated by one of the devs.
interesting, I wonder what that would mean
(at this point I interpret Saint basically became like Jess from the movie triangle)
Now the question is just if anybody has figured out what that agreed-upon meaning is, or if we need to keep being detectives still. :O
fellow Triangle enjoyer
Still thinking about that movie from time to time
Sadly even if someone has the right guess, the devs probably won't say a thing anyway
True. Part of the fun with Saint is in trying to understand it, so giving a definitive answer would ruin a lot of the experience. :(
Rain World thrives on ambiguity and leaving things for the player to figure out.
I know, it's great. :D
One of the things Vanilla does better than MSC, in my humble opinion.
You don’t know what the Iterators are like among themselves.
Well, you do…
But they don’t have this human air around them. They’re formal, they never say a word outside what’s needed.
It’s also why more content isn’t always better, though I do really like what MSC adds to the lore table.
You never get to know them. So much of their personality is left a mystery.

I really like that even though Rain World doesn't tell you all the answers, you still know there are answers - we might not know what the details are, but we know the developers and writers had a reason and some way it all tied together. It wasn’t just thrown in to keep us guessing; it does all make sense somehow.
There are pieces, they're just not assembled for you.
The world doesn't care what you know or don't about it.
But the pieces do fit together, so it's worth trying to puzzle it out. ^_^
I played another game recently where I just felt click-baited; it kept throwing interesting stuff at me, but by the end none of it fit anywhere or made any sense. It just felt like the writers said "this is stuff sci-fi fans like; we'll throw it in to keep them hooked!" without ever asking why the stuff was there. Very frustrating. :/
Because Rain World was made to be a game, everything else followed naturally.
Sure, there's some inconsistencies here and there, but those are pretty rare, as much as I like to criticise it for the inconsistencies.
Well, I mean it was made to be a world. It wasn’t just focused on the button-mashing experience; it put effort into music, creature interactions, etc. It kept asking 'why is this here?' and 'what effect does this have?' with everything it added, not just 'what will keep the player sinking hours in'.
Ironically, this exact process is what makes players keep sinking endless hours in.
It's really addicting to try and get that one perfect run.
Yup. They could tell the developers respected their time.
Trust me. I'm no speedrunner, but I have tried so much to get a great Hunter start.
And though I get frustrated that I can't do it, the world is just so interesting.
I'm not even going to try Hunter; I'm just awful at making the jumps. I know I'd burn all my cycles trying to recover karma from some of those high areas.
You'll never really know everything about Rain World, and that's beautiful.
There's some obscure interaction that's theoretically possible, but happens once in a blue moon.
Makes you wonder why it was even added, but you're all the more grateful for it.
As an example, Saint can ||hold noots and batflies without killing them||.
Something more obscure, when you ||try to eat batflies upon attunement, you ascend them instead||.
Why? Who would try that?
Not a lot of people.
Why add it?
And yet somebody tried it, and figured out it was a thing. :D
I bet the devs were just as happy as the players were to see that the breadcrumbs had been picked up.
Exactly!
They built an open-world game, not a movie.
Well, as open-world as Rain World can get.
There's a reason your game has to be a game, and Rain World has all the right reasons.
Yepyep - and they made sure to appeal to a wide range of gamers. Platformers in it for the challenges, explorers in it for the new discoveries, story addicts like me wanting mysteries and drama, music appreciators, and so on.
And when you happen to like a lot of its aspects, you basically unlocked an addiction.
I don't recommend it.
Play like you normally would; if you die a lot farm karma. Give every run your best.
That's my recommendation. Up to you of course
You can go through SU instead of SI.
That's what I like to do. (More creatures there so more score points)
I played hunter right after surv with very little movement knowledge
Failed my first runs but then I got it.
You can do it
(if you want. There's also no shame in increasing the hunter cycles if the permadeath stresses you out)
Ooo I’ll give this a shot
design an iterator banan
I dropped outta college so I never even finished my degree
I have one but it’s secret
Never too late, I guess. I mean I’m like 30 and just now getting mine… money is a problem though
money is a problem and I already spent all my grant money
I’m doing WGU (self-paced, online)
already way in debt
I got a book on Linux Pro Institute cert though if you ever need help studying linux stuff
My parents paid for the degree… I pay for my living etc but yeah. I don’t think I would have been able to do it without them
yeah I ain't got that lmao
I got a Linux cert (part of one, technically) for a class
many siblings so parents said "you're on your own"
I've interned in it before too
went to a trade school, did internship at a college IT department for like 2 weeks
Hey that’s something
Might as well try
Or you could make a portfolio of cool projects to levy
nothing around here hires

they all outsource to a place that doesn't seem to hire from anywhere public
The overseas outsourcing of entry level tech jobs is a problem
it's not even overseas that I can see
it's just this place provides the service but they don't have a hiring department you can contact
I assume it's all through a hiring agency
but like, I'm not qualified enough to make it past the automated checks
Azure certs are in fairly high demand, if you can get one of those (for server management/cloud computing). CCNA looks really good on a resume too, if you're more into network stuff.
I took the class for Azure in college so I could probably get that one
Have you tried any of the big recruiting companies? You might not be paid well, but experience is experience…
That'll open some remote jobs too, since you probably won't have to be on-site for most stuff.
Also are you willing to move
If I could afford to move I would have already
So… a lot of midwestern states get kind of desperate for hires
And other rural states
They’ll pay for your move and probably pay alright
That’s my desperation option if nothing else works out
If you have server skills you can probably negotiate for the company to pay to relocate you.
I don't have the certs or the money to get them
No money is tough
That is a problem. :(
If you can stand working at, shudder, a callcenter, then a lot of times they'll do reimbursement for certs and stuff.
But those are horrible places to work for.
I just DoorDash to pay for food and rent
mood
sucks in my area though
they compounded like 4 cities together into one dash zone
But I don’t have to do it full time since I do have my slowly diminishing savings
Could be enough to get you a+ at least, though
"oh hey will you please drive 50 miles to pickup and deliver this food?? for uhhh $12??
So real
I have a like 5% acceptance rate
I’m not convinced there’s any punishment for having a low one
cause I try to keep the special status thing
I still get offers
I literally can't get in to dash unless it's "busy" and it's never busy here
I think the special status isn’t worth it
so I need the "dash anytime" reward thing
Can’t schedule?
No
Yeesh
There's never time on the schedule
I thought there wasn’t but I was misunderstanding how the schedule times work
maybe a "would you like to dash for 30 minutes in the least busy part of the day?"
Ugh
For the longest time I didn’t realize that the stupid time slots on my schedule (1am-2am) or whatever were actually listings for 1am previous day to 2am next day
so you could schedule anything in that 24 hours
I’m just kinda dumb though
yeah no, mine are only for an hour inside the same day
It’s tough out there
Yeah, good luck y'all, stay frosty
it's also why it turns brown in the air
this is not from my leech research, but for a silly magic lady that eats metal
i needed to find reasons for the color of her blood and did blood research

probably gonna be a mixture of a higher iron concentration and it being more deoxygenated
she probably has excessive blood clotting too which would explain why her blood is so sticky- and would explain why she requires two hearts to push blood through her body

Yee
this may prove useful in the future for the woaf leeches

a blood clot is called a thrombus
Ain't that the shape that is a quadrilateral whose four sides all have the same length
rhombus

i dont think that even covers gas

Average yeehaw distance between cities.
and km to miles is 0.625x
Like the distances between locations are insane in certain parts of America.
(yeah, i hope people in Europe would get it)
that map has a lot of distortion
The US is generally lower than Spain and the same latitude as the sahara desert.
That is true, I'm using it for latitude here.
More accurate
I find it funny how wide Antarctica is here
What you modelling?
Here is like 18 km
a furret, but you know those little chain things you can buy or 3d print, a furret but that
This thing?

not super happy with that tail tho
JoeHills of Nashville, Tennessee!
Why France covered Mississippi, Alabama, Indianapolis, Kentucky, Atlanta, Missouri and Arkansas with a bit of Georgia?
only party cover all of those, and France is the 2nd largest country in Europe (1st is Russia)
There’s an SU route?
👀
update on that

What do they mean?
basically those are the things that the computer uses to build the mesh, kinda like pixels, but the computer takes shortcuts by only ploting out the most important parts of the mesh, i suppose a better analogy would be vector graphics, like in illustrator
So, those means the total of polygons?
yeah, pretty much

-# see 500k of faces
Excuse me?
most of my models dont have THAT many vertexes, but this is a 3d print, so i can't just use shade smooth
(shade smooth is something that averages out the shading (or normals) of the mesh hiding a large amount of Geometry, and making it seem like its more detailed that it is)
I just accidentally deleted my PMD Explorers of Sky save.
Guess I’m starting PSMD and planning my PMD fic earlier than expected.
The last world got destroyed and like only this one guy knows it
@knotty sierra Have you ever read the PMD webcomic Anamnesis, btw? 👀
Doesn't look familiar. The only webcomics I can remember reading are Victory Fire, Tales of Elysium, and Milos from Home.
there's an offical PMD anime (only 1 ep for like a couple of the games)
It's a good one, more of a collection of short stories in webcomic form, very angsty. I would recommend it
all done!
about that......
also, this one model is taking up 5 gb of RAM

im shoocked blender didn't even crash once

Cool, at least you got guts

debt

I do not take that into consideration /j
if i can get away with not going to college, i will, even if i can go to some free due to being hearing impaired

I mean i have a love of learning
But hs is just not it

yeah, i dislike HS as well
but from what i heard college is worse sometimes, my cousin, who's in college, sometimes has to do homework, before they get to class
im not sure either, idk if its just normal homework and i heard wrong, or you have to do the work on the day's subject, before you learn about it
i could be very wrong on that one tho
i feel like i would rather a trade school
i have poor balance so i cant even consider college
Perhaps
My only hope is a scholarship
my body likes to pretend i dont have feet sometimes
so i trip on air a lot

a real shame
You trip over your nonexistent money
Yep, I've had to write lab procedures before coming into class
So when you don't fully understand it it's like
Depending on your major, your class is going to start months before the semester if you want to keep a sane mind (As in, you’ll be studying before you get there.). In my case, I’m a cs major, so I’m taking stuff like calculus. If I wanted to save myself from stress, I would’ve had to study at least a month or two in advance.
Honestly, really consider if the field you’re going into needs college, and don’t overlook smaller community colleges. Quality of professors matters more than how prestigious a college is, and it seems to me that many care more for their research than their students.
True.
Many of the prestigious schools focus more on research as that's what gives more prestige (also it's more fun to do research than teaching
)
Having to do and publish research papers even if you wouldn't do any of that more after graduating:
On today’s episode of: “Research your desired college”

what is firefox doing, why does it say i have 15 instances of it

yall im planning on making my own warrior cats book with unique cats and everything, but i dont know what to make the prolouge about
the two current stories i want to overarch into the main plot are a medicine cat apprentice trying to expose the current medicine cat as attempting to sabotage their clan, and a few month old kit haunted by ghosts (each prespective is in a different clan and ive been thinking of adding barkclan's deputy to the POV roster as their leader is on few lives and the deputy is fairly young, though i do think that wouldnt work in relation to the main plot) btw rn im pretty sure i want the main plot to be about an escaped savannah cat attempting to join the clans for refuge, getting denied, and then attempting to drive them out/ get rid of them
all i have is allegiances rn btw
also some general help with planning out the story would be nice
Hold on, I need to consume first.
starve yourself for my war crime kittys/silly
@trim tartan its been like a whole hour
I forgot to mention that I would not only be consuming food, I would also be consuming media.
Apologies, did that, did a minor rant about contrast as well, and then remembered.
The prologue is a pretty important part of the story! It has to hook the reader's interest and set the tone for the overall story.
Because I'm not sure how dark you want this to be, as I'm unfortunately not familiar with Warrior Cats, I unfortunately can't quite give you a direct recommendation on what to make it on, though I may have some ideas.
Also, since this is building on Warrior Cats, which I assume is an existing story, I have no idea what any of these terms mean, and you do want to keep in mind who your target audience is.
If you want someone who doesn't know about this to be interested, say, me, I would have to be introduced to who these characters are, what they're like, their motives, et cetera.
But if you're targeting people who know, it isn't as important, as they don't quite need this explanation.
Though you would probably be better off talking to someone else who is more knowledgeable, I'll give some examples on prologues.
You can contrast the prologue with the material that comes after. Makes the readers wonder "wait, what happened to those guys earlier?" It tugs on that curiosity, and makes them want to know more.
In this, you set a lingering presence for them to recall, and to hook them into the story.
With this, I would recommend running with the material for a bit, but not too long.
You don't want your readers to forget that bit, after all, and you really shouldn't keep them waiting for something that seemingly will never come.
I see no problems with that storyline, though the other stuff should probably not be as highlighted as the main story.
Yes, side quests of sorts are interesting, but you have a main character whose story is the one you're telling.
Your focus is on the main character, not on the side quests.
Not everything has to directly further the plot, of course, but don't take a detour and a half.
Yes, subplots are neat additions, but they need to tie in with the main character, their motives, what they do.
They should ideally add to a story, perhaps reveal something about them.
Show who they really are. Test them. Change them.
It's a similar principle with what makes good fight scenes good.
There has to be something greater than just "fighting for the sake of fighting".
Good fights tend to have emotion behind them.
There's greater motives beyond the fight.
Sorry, got distracted by something.
There's always a main goal, yes.
But there are other objectives.
You want to make a fight interesting? Give it other objectives besides "kill them before they kill you".
Ah, Cy's here! He's more experienced in this than I am.
in any setting that tries at realism, battles to the death are rare. Most would rather posture or surrender than fight to the death.
Multiple objectives allow for your characters to win on one front, but lose on other fronts.
It allows more gray areas.
It isn't as simple as "you win" or "you lose".
Multiple main objectives also allow for your character to have a more mixed ending, though I would recommend moderation for this, as I do for all others.
But to wrap back to the original question: the best places to start with a plot are, in my experience, the emotional core of the narrative (the scene that the story is building towards, for instance) and the key character dynamics you want to explore- if the main character gets rejected and then turns on the clans, you should have someone to represent that rejection within the clans… a sort of ‘main villain’ if you like.
I seem to conceptualize stories by conceptualizing an ending first. Then I can build the rest of the story towards getting there… build on the themes, journey, character arcs etc
Endings are the hardest thing to come up with, and having one from the go makes the rest a whole lot easier
That's kind of how I start stories, too. I figure out the scene I want to get to, then start asking 'okay, how do the characters get there'.
Then maybe write a few scenes after that to wrap things up.
Hmmm, another Kindred scug for me
It can make 'slice of life' scenes harder to write, but it works for me.
@edgy scroll @trim tartan
Er, I think you might have misunderstood? The savannah cat and the medicine cat are the Villians of the story I'd say, the 2 pov characters rest within the clans. One (medicine apprentice) is against the rejection of the savannah cat and the already exsisting medicine cat, the other too young to be allowed to hear the news, aswell as completely incapable of knowing full details due to being in a different clan. Also the medicine cat is the one who sparks the idea for the savannah cat to try and join them, kind of making it seem like this big amazing thing when its not really
Otherwise, I do have a few scenes in mind, and currently I want the big scene to be a flood of sorts as this story takes place in a wetland everglade-y sort of area.
Thank you for all your help though, especially with the prologue, I wasn't quite sure how to execute it.
Warrior cats chat huh
Make that overnight, and one failed print later, I'm finally finished printing

I would be consuming the skin of plenty.

Awesome
West coast yeehaw going to the beach in nov

Beach!
I don’t like beaches, but they can look good.
They good because strong wind and cool water
It's only bad if the sun is hurting you or trash all over the place
I want to permanently live on beach
i cant swim so no beach fer me

Big umbrella in the sand, small umbrella in the drink. Towel that doesn't really keep the grit off, but is still more comfortable than sitting on the shells. Some kind of book that doesn't require much attention. Sandwiches with an emphasis on the first four letters. Wind whipping my hair and making me squint. Someone will tell me to go in the water soon, but for now, I have an unpeaceful peace. That's what I think of when I see the beach.
That shouldn't be taken as me disliking the beach, though. I do love it- like I would love a family member. You don't always get on with family
.
i see beach or pool and rember when i got saved by my friend at her 7th bday party
reading and writing abt beach tho? perfectly fine somehow
I also dislike sand but the water makes it worth it
Also the weather and smell
Makes me feel a little more alive
The air over the ocean is the cleanest on earth.
Never actually experienced that; but ive seen snow on a desert , would it be similar?
Never experienced snow
<--
I don't really like how sand gets everywhere on the beach, I find that I kinda like going into the sea and leaving, or maybe walking along it for a bit, but I can't stand just laying on it for a prolonged time, cause I still don't like sand and also you need sunscreen which, not only do I have a dislike for stuff you have to smear on your skin (no clue why, I just really dislike the sensation), but suprise, sunscreen makes sand stick to you
Unfortunately my mum really likes being on the beach for prolong periods of time

Nuh uh
It's already warm here
Thanks
below freezing is amazing but i would actually die at that point
−89.2 °C is the coldest temperature recorded on earth; it was on Antarctica
that day, Anton died from frostbite
-128 F

God
frosty the snowman would become frosty the ice cube
56.7 C is the hottest temp recorded, in death valley.
134 F
Hmmm
Goodnight stories

Bet

average day in central valley ca:
that day, Anton died from heatstroke

Double kill
Tbh, I can sleep off 39°c or 102.2 °f
Warmest I've experienced is 42 C?
Or maybe at 41°c or 105.8°f during the March heatwave
107 F
We can handle the sun
I don't live in the tropics
I'm not built for this.
Rain is good
And for all my life, I have truly experienced Rain World™
I can handle 20 - 35 C
After discovering Rain World, I'm convinced there's an Iterator in the Pacific Ocean
Rain world is a mix between eastern europe's architecture, australia's flora and fauna and the philippines' rain
australia for all the nightmare monsters
I like spiders tho
ive seen pictures of spiders that can eat possums
Spiders are cool
Spiders are chill
-# I hate you red spider, you fking camper in the Leg
but if they were as big as they were in RW, I don't think I'd like them as much

I like the Banana spider
and it does a silly dance to attract female spiders
I don't want to hurt bugs, though mosquitoes, ticks and horse flies are the exception.
Can take out pests if they like it
Mosquitoes
mosquitos deserve what is coming to them (a flip flop)
An every night struggle
I have to resort with gas warfare against the mosquitoes
I don't care if I violated the Geneva Convention with the mosquitoes
I had to win the war
when i slept over at a friend's house a few times before, i had to sleep with bug spray on because of ants and mosquitos
Crazy that moon's inhabitants lived in commie blocks
Like minecraft
me when the villagers keep teleporting three hundred blocks away
I always raze down villages after I pillage it
this one is lonely

Y'know what, I should draw one of my oldest OC
Supposedly I have to make her a stroy
I hate sand. It’s coarse, grainy and gets everywhere. /ref
i get chu
Is that Monk? Is that Monk and Saint?
Nah, it's in Chasing Birds
My OCs:
Sitter's the green one
Poacher's the dirty yellow one
Was feeling it's cool when I was taking the trash out

104°F

I can sleep it off if I wanted too

I literally have never experienced sub-50F
Same
40C is uncomfortable
-# but sleeping it off is a valid strategy
I have lived both in new york and in the west coast i am immune to either hot and cold
Would be hot outside; just fine inside
Dang
I cannot handle cold
I would die
Especially leg cramps and they aren't a joke

That could also be because you don't drink enough water
I always drink water
Like how Pebbles would do
Welp, lemme cook
I have to grill chimken

An oceans worth?
So much you dehydrate everyone around you?
Anton stop taking everyones water
youre killing them all /j
false
Well ofc you dont think so
You have ice instead of water in your veins
i am filled with molten lava
Oh I will
/j /silly

Wrong. He lives in Southeast Asia.

And, to be fair, those folk handle heat very well.
As in, could probably survive in 90 Yeehaw degrees.

I may never know about yeehaw torkey day
BUT CHIRSMAS IS RIGHT ABOUT THE CORNER
Christmas is torkey day with presents (for my family)
We just have almost the exact same meal
What do you do on thanksgiving?
Chirsmas is where family gathering occurs, FOOD
, chirsmas gift and karaoke night
(how we celebrate)
Roast Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce are required, along with apple pie. Plus a bunch of additional sides that depend on who’s coming. This year was fried Brussels sprouts, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mushroom soup and pumpkin bread
A FEAST
FEAST
I see, neat
Sounds fun!
Also alcohol

I hate alcohol
I do love occasional drink
Hot spiced cider + alcohol of choice and whipped cream is my fave on torkey days
Spider
Either whiskey or soju, depends on what they buy
But I hate beer
Also my parents went on a fishing trip last month and sent me home with like eight pounds of frozen fish they caught
Roobeer
Gonna be eating lots of fish
Lemme convert that
8 pounds is 3 something kg?
3 kilos of fish...
Nice
Lingcod, halibut, coho salmon and rockfish
And also, maybe that's a sign for... Hfish
So true…

Odd question since I mentioned Napoleon Total War: Anyone remember a time where games weren't exactly balanced?
How so? 👀
In Napoleon TW, France for obvious reasons is the most powerful foe you can go up against. Best elite units in the game, very good artillery (Napoleon was an artillery officer before he became an emperor), a strong economy, and a lot of territory at the start of the game
And then there's Napoleon himself fielding an army... Top tier general, basic infantry take forever to break, and really any fight against Napoleon himself is going to be brutal
What about Great Britannia?
Meanwhile his main rival, Britain, is dependent on its navy which can't fight land battles, has limited territory, and it's own ground forces are decent but not as good as France
Russia actually has decent units for an army but is let down by said units having poor morale and the nation needing to build itself up which it has but again, even its decent unit pool is quantity over quality
But it makes sense for France to be scary. This is Napoleon Bonaparte we're talking about. France DOMINATED Europe for a few years and whether the nobility liked it or not, Napoleon rebuilt the continent with his laws which still influence the modern day
Imagine Napoleon has huge numbers on winning than any generals in history
Is it balanced? Not in the slightest. France is front and center the biggest powerhouse in the game and fighting Napoleon is going to be an uphill battle regardless on who you are. Britain can blockade but has to build an army to D-Day France, Prussia can field decent units but has to be careful on when it joins, Austria is in Napoleon's sights from the start, and Russia is going to be fielding less impressive units statistically. France is the final boss and Napoleon himself is coming for you
Uh, there's only the main empires at the time. Sorry Sweden
Unless we're talking the Peninsula Campaign which is Spain. Then you're either France holding too much territory to manage but have strong troops, Britian with its decent troops but non-existent territory in Gibraltar, and Spain who is the Rebel Alliance trying to gather the forces necessary to take the Peninsula back

My point is, it's unbalanced and a challenge and that's what makes it fun
👀
Unlike say Civilization where everyone starts the same, has some minor bonuses in certain areas, and are in a rat race to build up from nothing
Which is fine and enjoyable, but everyone starts equal
If I may ask Cap, regarding to Total War Empires? (I haven't played it but seen multiple times)
Is it possible to win in a faction that has low technological advancements?
Napoleon TW is different. France itself has problems in the fact its navy is going to be second to Britian, there's an instant fight against Austria, Russia is a sleeping giant that can and WILL mobilize a terrifyingly powerful economy if given the time to do so, Prussia is a wild card that can go anywhere, and Spain can become a sudden nuisance (as it did historically)
There is the Warpath Campaign (AKA, Native Americans against the post Revolutionary War powers in play) but for the main game? I'd say yes but it will require careful planning
Spain is a nuisance? (Lol, just like in history)
Assuming we're talking European powers, line infantry with fire by rank will perform better than line infantry without it. And you do need tech improvements in general to unlock better farms
You want explosives for artillery? Howitzer guns may have less range than standard field guns (why the HELL do mortars and rocket batteries have the longest range in the game?!), but they get explosives that can go over cover, do great damage to units, and if you keep pushing the tech you can unlock effectively chemical weapons
Want light infantry to skirmish? Well annoyingly that's a late game tech but light infantry can take cover and have better range than standard infantry
Carcass shot and quicklime
Ah, quicklime
Both are...nasty if the descriptions are anything to go by
Ah, I must have mistaken the other
Still
Rockets are a mixed bag. On one hand, I find their ground artillery to be lackluster even with absurd range. Naval combat though... Wooden ships and cloth sails + firey rockets do not mix well
But overall, tech is important for battles and economy. Fall behind and you will be facing uphill battles on the grandscale and the actual battles (added insult if the other guy had the high ground). Keep pace and you will reap the rewards for your progress
Night
Apple pie? I like apple pie. And mushroom soup.
They’re tasty
Apple pie best pie

Cabinet beasts without the cages
@edgy scroll Sorry for the ping but I thought you might be interested.
I haven't made apple pie, but I have made some apple cakes. Very tasty

Takes notes
They're awesome
I don't have to be good at art, right?
nahhhhh
talking about art, I've started to learn how to sketch! Been trying to sketch simple stuff like apples, bowls and bottles for now
You can make a meal with those
Good idea!
I'll post some later
(I should probably buy some 2B pencils as is recommended)
I'm using 2H because I bought a bunch when they were real cheap for my school work
Awesome intro...

there are different kinds of pencils?
Indeed, different weights
