It's an open source OS basically, there's different versions of it that do different things. It's main draw is it's open source though and you can customize it to your needs.

There's a linux OS for people who rather have windows but not windows (Mint, Zorin), the people who decide that they rather live in the command line (Arch), and stuff like Red Hat for ethical hacking and that sort of thing.

Mint for example is very easy to install
