Neither me nor my friend are modders or maintainers of the mod that caused this issue, but I'm asking how to restore the game to a working state after it happened.
My friend uninstalled a mod called "The Tower" from inside the game, they got a series of error messages (content not known) so long it exceeded the bounds of the window, and now the game black-screens on launch because of an array index issue.
Exception log attached.
My friend has tried the following

Can you maybe find the files the mod created and delete them?

Does Rain World need to be updated?
If you have the camera scroll mod you may need to manually delete the merged region files from the mods folder

Specifically the "Merged Mods" folder, not the mods folder.
Some people mix this up and one deletes the DLC and the important stuff and other actualy is the merged files.

There’s also specifically token cache files in the game files that may need to be deleted and then redownloaded by verifying the files
Although that would delete all your unlocks. Does The Tower add any unlocks? It could be that you uninstalling the mod corrupted the token cache because the mod is trying to load an unlock that no longer exists. You could either delete the entire token cache file, which would also delete all your unlocks, or you could try to locate the unlock added by The Tower and delete that line from the token cache file.

Reinstalling the game for the seventh time or so mysteriously made the problem go away
I'm half tempted to reproduce the issue on purpose

It's one of those mods that cause other issues because they don't respect the region lease and things like that.

Happy it is working now!! Yeah I looked at the mod and considered getting it, glad I didn’t
It could have been an issue with the unlocks or maybe if there was a conflicting mod, I know Lavish Knack for example conflicts with it because it also has a region with the acronym(?) TT
