How often does a crash in ||Metropolis|| (artificer area spoilers) actually result in save data being wiped?
I want to map out some areas as artificer, but i'm worried that my main save gets deleted.
I'm on switch, i see that people have been reporting those glitches for PS.
im not sure unfortunately, it seems pretty random
im not sure if it can happen on switch it may be possible, but i think on switch you can upload your save data so if it corrupts youll b save
playing rain world after a while gonna see if it runs okay

Personal perspective: Biggest issues I've had currently on switch are Safari Crashes and Audio glitches. I've had no data wipes since I downloaded remix and that wasn't even really a wipe. I really am most actually frustrated about the audio glitches because it ruins the vibe and whatnot, but really it's kind of minor. I seem to be lucky but just a note so that more information can be collected

there was a king vulture in some water and my framerate just . died i thought it was gonna crash it is not handling any vultures well
To be fair, it should've been Videocult and Akupara Games' call to delay the release, rather than release broken and rely on platforms rolling out patches in a timely manner.

With all due respect they are an indie studio and it is faster to find glitches when the internet has access than to have play testers working forty hours a week

Ok yeah I have map bugs where areas I’ve been too before on the map just don’t show up
They might just be across map segments.
There are weird cut-off points where the map will split into two separate areas you can only view individually

You just walk across a room and the map switches as if you went through a gate.

My survivor playthrough I’ve been through half of subterranean and to the depths
And I just finished Gourmand where I barely stayed there
When I got to Subterranean again as survivor through passage it only showed the one den I slept in as Gourmand

Well like no other dens nor areas I explored
The map erasing is intentional because of room changes and new rooms

I think i found a glitch, ||i picked up the scavenger chieftain's mask, and as you would have expected, all the scavengers were scared of me. But then after leaving it in a shelter and playing for another hour, it seems scavengers are still scared of me? They never try to attack me anymore, and often flee to a nearby pipe. Is it normal this effect lasts forever?||

If you drop the ||chieftain mask, scavs should try to start attacking you||
Unless i've been insanely lucky, they still don't try to attack me.
The wiki said the effect should have lasted just 1 minute after dropping it.

I don't know the number of fps or the resolution chosen but the game is clearly less responsive and fluid than on my pc on series s.
and I think there's a bug on the roll pounce, it's not always done.
otherwise the sound effects and sounds seem corrected.
I haven't seen reliable numbers on the performance targets for each platform.
I'm literally stuck in garbage waste in my second survivor run
Literally at the start of the gate too, I crash whatever pipe I go through the moment I exit out of the shelter

No I don't have jolly co op on, but there's a shelter right after the gate of garbage wastes is opened. I went into it, rested, and then tried to exit into the garbage wastes area and it keeps crashing no matter what I do to leave. I'm basically soft locked.
usually when others have this problem they had jolly co op on and when they disable it they can go through; weird
I'm just going to reset my run, I only have 41 mins in it but it sucks that I even have to do this in the first place
my game can not handle more than one vulture at once and suddenly lags when theres like 3 scavengers on screen at ||waterfront facility||
this is pretty much unplayable it happened when there was just one king vulture too

Game just has a lot of lag on Switch
Maybe try reloading the game, but otherwise you just have to deal with it and get past that area.
i was in that room on the ps4 version and it was fine for me but on switch its a lag fest

I've heard PS5 can have lag aswell. The game just generally has inconsistent performance, which is the problem, really.
Not even just a system spec issue.
The Switch can have good stable moments, most of the base game was stable and perfectly playable, it's just when random outliers appear it can halt or hinder your experience.
Doesn't really make a difference what platform it's running on if suddenly the frametime spikes to 1000% for whatever probably mundane issue.

I felt the same in Chimney canopy by doubling the spawns as Spearmaster.
they are aware of the data corruption bug

they will probably optimize it some more to prevent it from lagging when they fix the data corruption as well so we just have to wait til then

they're still investigating bugs so they aren't done with fixing it
Game optimisation is generally more in-depth than standard bug fixes. They could very well do some lag fixes but I just wouldn't say you should expect it.
at least reduce it, like most areas, i dont expect some rooms in 5p to be lag free

The performance lag issues are honestly unacceptable. This is on a level where I'd consider asking for refund(PS5 version).

on PC with a good configuration , downpour area sometimes drop on fps from 120 to 60~66 fps no matter what

Okay, so, you're having lag there, right?
But i also see you're using spearmaster, which has a big lag problem in the front sections of LM (Waterfront Facility).
The reason it's working great for Bendo is because he's playing artificer.
(Spearmaster has tons of salamanders and eels there, while artificer doesn't have that much traffic)
Is the survivor portrait change fixed or not when ||ascending||?
I heard that was a problem before.

It appears you are right, i'm sorry.
It looked like spearmaster jumping out of the water due to the color, but by looking closer, there's a drone (like you said) and a normal tail.
But yeah, i guess it's a bit weird then.
I know about vultures sometimes causing lag, but i've never seen this before (for artificer).
i had it lag for me on switch as spearmaster and artificer, but so far on the ps4 version its been fine
I knew about spearmaster's LM (Waterfront Facility) lag, but artificer seems to do fine.
i'm currently finishing artificer to see if it will corrupt the data to send in a different post so it can be investigated, once i complete it or it corrupts my data which ever one comes first, i'll speedrun to waterfront facility to that room to see if it lags for me on the ps4 version

It never crashed in ||metropolis|| for me actually, but i do experience a massive amount of lag in 1 room because of a scavenger and lizard overload (it's a toll room).
||metropolis|| is the most common area for data corruption so when it crashed i fully expected my data to be corrupted, also i haven't had any lag here on the ps4 version yet however on the switch i get it tho
It crashed on Switch a lot in my experience. I never got any form of save wipe or corruption.
I believe that the save file corruption happens because the game crashes while autosaving

But I did have it crash during an ending
In that case it just went to the finish state normally.
i think i remember someone said they were in a room in ||metropolis|| and it crashed and their data corrupted
but it does start to make sense when cuz, someone hibernated as inv then it crash and wipe their data, someone had it keep crashing and wiping the data when they were trying to hibernate as gourmand, and someone died in ||precipice|| as spearmaster and it crashed and wipe their data, so that has to be it

when ur data got corrupted were you on the sleep screen/death screen?
i dont think i was i think it crashed during gameplay and when i clicked again it had a message abt my data being corrupted
i played for a while today on arti again and it does still sometimes lag with vultures but also sometimes doesnt, i guess its just inconsistent

both actually, i think there might be images from someone else but it was a pop up and when i closed out of the pop up the game had a similar message
I imagine the system detecting corrupt data while other platforms keep reading data normally.
i looked back at most of the post and when they die or hibernate it crashes a.k.a during an autosave which then corrupts the data
I've only heard of this crash corruption from Playstation players

That's not very assuring. I don't have NSO and can't back up my save. So I'll be screwed if the game decides to clobber my data.
Can't even back it up to an SD card or anything since all save data is stored on System Memory.
it auto uploads ur sava data when u exit a game, so idk if theres a way to actually download a previous save or not, and if you cant download a save that means the save on NSO is the same as on the console, so switch is screwed with or without it
Yeah it doesn't have a save history system, though you can cancel a backup if you do so quickly after the game has been closed or while the game is running.
If you keep the game closed with auto save backup on then it'll just replace the data with corrupt data
The backup system only seems to serve the purpose for if you have multiple consoles, one breaks, or you lose it.

If you go into System Settings > Data Management > Save Data Cloud > Settings it should be there.

There's also an option to automatically download save data, for if you use multiple Switch consoles, I guess.
Like if you have one at home and a Lite you bring with you.
well for a second i thought my oneshot save got corrupted cuz it said it failed to upload the save data to the sava data cloud
i was about to say that i wish you can turn it off for a specific game instead of all of them but i just found where i can chose wut games to have it off for 
so psa for switch users with online membership: turn it off for rain world till save data corruption is gone
But also remember to manually back it up. Lol
i might not be able to continue my main on ps5 cuz i dont have plus yet(didnt think this would be the reason i would get) but at least i can continue my main on switch

got it on switch back in feburary cuz i watch skurry and they started playing DP and thats when i got into the game, few months later i get a ps5 and i get ps cards so i can get control and batdr, i see it goes on sale so i buy it, so i guess its 2 reasons, 1. why not, and 2. i love this game and i would buy it on steam too lol

Like is it sharper, or generally run at a higher framerate.
The game internally is closer to 720p, like 768p I believe, and that'd scale better into 4k, rather than 1080p. I imagine they could be using that to make the game sharper on PS5
switch, ps4, and ps5 version look the same resolution to me, idk if thats cuz its a 16-bit game or i've played for so long on the switch i cant tell, like i couldnt tell i was playing the two recent spiderman games at 30 fps until i looked to see if raytracying was on or not
All the art is the same. The only difference could be scaling used.
some rooms work better than others tho like ||waterfront facility|| and ||metropolis|| lags for switch but not ps, dont know about other new regions tho

i have not done gourmand, saint or rivulet at all yet, i have done some spearmaster on switch, almost finished with artificer on both(not ps5 version), and did a full survivor run on ps5
when i heard about save data corruption it kinda made me stop using my mains, only reason i'm almost done with arti on both is cuz i wanted to see if it would crash then corrupt it on switch and for ps4 to see if it would happen to me as well and so i can send it so they can investigate this to fix it cuz no one on ps4 versions have yet
I have a temporary fix to the jolly co op shelter glitch (where it doesn't close) pause and go back or leave the shelter and come back in

I have encountered a peculiar bug
So you know how when you beat Artificer you get the ||scav king mask|| and spawn back in the ||scav king room||?
I died before I hibernated in a proper shelter
Then decided to passage from the Death screen
And now my ||scavenger king mask|| has disappeared
I’m just annoyed cause I really, really don’t want to re-complete Artificer in order to get the ||scavenger king mask|| again
I already beat her campaign one time more than I really should’ve
||that fight is really a pain||

i actually enjoy it apart from the end of it
I just hate being targeted all the time by scavengers
Cause they’re so much more OP than you most of the time
I love artis campaign
It’s so satisfying to not have to beg and hope for the scavs to spare you
I just hate being Killed On Sight by scavs
You can just MURDER them all without any remorse
Scavs are pretty easy to fight with artis abilities
Multiple is a solid No around 80% of the time
yea with other scugs i'm thinking "are they going to kill me or let me go", but with arti no thought but death
In metropolis where there’s food literally everywhere and you can make as many bombs as you’d like it’s Really Easy to fight scavs normally
In a place like, say, Garbage Wastes
There’s not much easy food sources
(And she also just gets Shitty Acid Garbage Wastes, and Spawns in Shitty Acid Garbage Wastes)
You’re basically forced onto one, linear path
Into Shaded
Which is a solid D tier area at best

You basically can’t go left from her starting room because you’ll either
A) Get gunned down in Broad Daylight
Or B) Get munched by a Red Lizard immediately because you’re in Shitty Acid Garbage Wastes
That’s the point to make you go right
But I don’t like being forced to go one and only one way
You don’t have to just go beat up scavs
Even in Survivor, where the intended path takes you to Industrial, you can still go wherever you want without getting Gunned Down On Sight
Just kill the scavs
As Artificer you have no other real options once you’re in Shaded besides Memory Crypts
You’re allergic to water so Waterfront is out of the question
Industrial doesn’t really do much for you
And is very out of the way from the Garbage/Shaded gate
Waterfront doesn’t have as much water as shoreline
waterfront aint that bad
It also takes you Nowhere
I want to explore without being shoved into one and only one somewhat viable path
You can, I’ve had heaps of fun as arti going into garbage wastes, drainage system and industrial
Even once you get into the exterior you’re basically forced to climb the wall instead of going through the Underhang/Pebbles gate cause you just can’t get a scav in underhang

If you wanna make them not kill you, give something to them. A spear, rock, any item (unless its very important). And even if you dont have anything, they raise their spears up as a warning, backing up would be ideal
i know its just when first seeing them or a little after u first give them something
I think each slugcat has its own reputation with the scavs. Either way id recommend giving anything at all if you encounter them the first time in the story
i remember on gourmand i tried to give a scav a pearl and accidently fell on them from a small height and got speared

scav combat is really fun even if i die 89% of the time fighting them

Scav is easy to kill if you dont play it like Doom
Yeah but you have a lot of abilities at your disposal. Especially that stun explosion
i can kill like 8 at most but they keep coming

u can deflect spears if u explode down i think too
arti also has a good story i like it
Stun doesn’t really do much if they’re sniping at you way on the way
(also my reaction times just suck at deflecting spears I don’t think I’ve used the boom to deflect a single time)

i got a bomb, explosive jump over then any called an air strike and killed them
Yeah to take care of tolls you need bombs
what i usually do is explode stun them, steal spear andKILL 
but it doesnt work as well with multiple scavs
i didnt make it far in ||metropolis|| ill try the bombs i think next time
||waterfront facility|| on ps4 runs okay but the fps still drops a bit occasionally, sometimes for no reason, and when a vulture comes
idk why mines been pretty laggy
scav: "oh, you have appeared to speared me one time. well, jokes on you artificer. i'm one of the scavs with slightly more health and i just got up and stabbed you in the ass before you can react, because the game said i could live a spear today".
i think i read somewhere that their heads are always one hit kills but other body parts might not be or something i always spear them again just incase 
also a scav: "oh. i just came out of a pipe and you have human reaction speed, which requires you to see me and process my presence before you can respond to anything i do? die beta!" like i said i enjoy her campaign but having a scav kill u as soon as u go to a pipe or having sniper tf2 kill u off screen is annoying and can be frustrating
Hey, does music cutoffs count as a bug? Id be in a chase with the threat music at high and suddenly the game stops the music and plays Kayava
Not a bug
You could be chased by a million dangerous creatures but if you trigger Bioengineering it'll play instead of the threat track
After it's done or randomly fades out for some reason (Garbage City Shuffle) then it'll go back to it's threat track

If it helps I wasn't ||at ⨂||, i was going to ||skip the requirement with a singlularity bomb||
I think going through pipes while holding multiple singularity bombs can crash the game?
How many were you holding?
Is the pink lizard that usually appears in that one room before drainage gate with a shelter in outskirts supposed to spawn in the same den as the pole plant? The interactive map says it’s not even supposed to spawn in that room (this is on Gourmand)
same thing happened to me as survivor but one time i saw two pink lizards come out from the den with the pole plant
Just one, and it crashed randomly in the middle of a large room (the one with ||guardians|| and platforming
Also a slight visual glitch: ||void spawn|| will disappear if you go into a pipe
A cycle later they both spawned there 😭 so weird
Also in Drainage on the way to Sub/Filtration the leeches there just voluntarily despawn??? Like I go in there and theres 5 leeches, but then one by one they start going into the den and by the time I get there theres one leech. It grabbed onto me, then jumped off and left LOL i mean thanks for just not feeling like it today so I can live but it was so weird
yea i had some leaches in shoreline just not show up, which is weird everything ignores the cycle timer with msc on and you cant really hurt them to retreat to their den
Gourmand crashed again, this time when entering OE for the first time. I entered the pipe leading out from the gate and it crashed.
This one was different, it seemed like the room started to load, flashed on screen for a couple frames then it went back to the karma gate room and froze for several seconds
I have heard this happen before and I'm afraid to try it again because of data corruption, has anyone else actually experienced this or am I delusional

i believe data corruption happens when it crashes when you hibernate or die, so when it auto saves
when will the safari crashes be fixed
Whenever nintendo stops being a snail at pushing out patches
there were two safari fixes, i believe data corruption started happening after the second safari fix(when expedition quest became doable) so when nintendo decides to push that out i think data corruption will start happening on switch

yall I have a question
has anyone else experienced extreme/slight delay in the intro and outro art cutscenes
It was so bad when I tried to start a Monk run it crashed
And it’s always so behind on specifically ||ascension|| cutscenes
The delay is the images always stay longer than the music transitions
For monk, it was on the slugcats catching batflies while the music was on the part where survivor falls
As for the ending cutscene its a lot less but it was noticeable when the last artpiece for Hunter was still appearing long after the music was already fading out, and stayed for a second or two in silence
i record all the cutscenes on my ps5, i dont know about hunter post dp yet but the monk and survivor intro and surv's ending cutscene played fine

I havent done monk in awhile but I dont imagine it’d be differnt
now if i made any sort of progress on the ps5 version cuz i dont have plus to protect my save i dont ever plan on doing any of the ascension endings except for survivor monk and artificer, and obviously hunter, saint and inv
so i wouldnt know about some of the ascension endings
also since ur on the switch version and if you have NSO you might want to turn off automatic backup sava data for rw for now
Yeah I did see that and forgot. I will do that tomorrow! I might put it off until those suspicious patches come along, unless someone experiences it beforehand

music doesn't sync with survivor's starting cutscene anymore

Expedition mode isn't giving any rewards and I can't do quests (switch)
so if your data corrupts you can back it up with a save thats not corrupted
it's fixed on ps, so switch will receive that patch whenever Nintendo pushes it out
yea this is a switch thing it will probably get fixed when the audio fix comes
The patch comes out on switch or tomorrow or Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest
the first safari fix, fixed it crashing but all audio died when playing safari and it fixed the music not playing without messing with the slider and the second safari fix, fixed it crashing again, fixed sfx, and expedition became now longer worthless, but i think data coruption accidentally came with that patch

if u have NSO u can turn off automatically back up save data for just it so it doesnt backup the corrupted data and u can download a previous save before it got corrupted but u have to remember to back it up yourself

NSO has no save data history, you must turn off automatic save data backup so you can download a previous save

i dont wanna get online just to keep my data
settings > data management > save data cloud > select user > settings > advanced save-data settings > find rain world to turn it off, and to download it/ back it up go to rw on the home screen press the + button go to save data cloud go to the user ur play it on press it and u get options to back it up or download it
u just have to be online to back it up or download it if it got corrupted

why do things keep getting worse in every patch
This is probably just to be expected but ive been experiencing a ton of lag in the underhang and five pebbles areas. Some pipe transitions are taking quite a while especially in unforchy development. Has made it difficult to navigate around. Ik theres like a ton of different elements on screen and some rooms are huge but its really only been happening after the remix update. On ps5 version.
Also zap coil textures arent loading in properly. The kinda white lines n stuff arent there, only the blue light that it emits is present. (sorry if this is the wrong channel)
i had no lag problems on ps4/5 but i do with switch

Yeah it tends to just freeze for a couple seconds a lot. Typically in the same places throughout different cycles.
Quite a lot of the rooms in the superstructure were pretty bad for me. All of general bus system obvs but also that huge room in memory conflux? Was absolutely chugging through there.
That pipe leading out of the gravity sphere (??) room in UD was horrid. Genuinely suprised it didnt crash cause it felt like it was going to everytime i had to pass through there. Which was quite a bit xp
i never had it freeze on me just drops to what i think is 17-25 fps
Yeah its been weird! I mean at least the patches slightly helped for me? It used to just kick it every 10 minutes or so and it hasnt crashed at all yet after a couple hours so.... a positive ig?

You can turn the music back on by fiddling with the Music slider in options (putting it down and then putting it back up)
Make sure you do it to the Music slider and not Arena Music slider

I am doing a playthrough with a slugpup and I got to FP and ate neurons to get a good glow . I go to a shelter and then passage to IC because I am not gonna go back down the wall lol
Well I passage and I lose the neuron glow

Just had my first post-Downpour crash in the Shoreline room where there's a shelter and three pipes at the top. Crashed going through the middle one. Thankfully only happened once, weird nonetheless. Playing as Survivor btw

turn off automatic back up save data for just rw so you can back it up, also lets say you backed it up after completing gourmand and you decided to do artificer and it crashes during your run and it gets dragged down to the pits of hell to be corrupted, if you didnt turn off automatic back up it should be still corrupted but if you turn it off it should be back when you completed gourmand(saying "should" cuz it hasnt happened yet on switch and i havent downloaded an old save yet but it should work)

I'm sick and tired of these map glitches, my past GW for artificer got wiped, my rivulet shoreline got set back to an uncomplete state, everything is just getting worse the more i play.

that is fixed in 1.9.11 but i think data corruption is in that patch too
so far the scugs that have had this happen to is artificer in ||metropolis||, gourmand trying to hibernate, inv trying to hibernate, spearmaster dying in ||precipice||, and recently rivulet dying in ||the rot||, most of these happen when you die or hibernate, a.k.a. when you auto save, so when it crashes during on of those events it corrupts the data so it can probably happen to any scug, also its not consistent for everyone i have tried all but the rivulet one yet and it has not happened to me yet
honestly that feels scarier than it just deleting save data when you download the patch
notice how switch players haven't reported this issue yet, only playstation users(idk about xbox tho, it did come out recently)

I haven't noticed but I know what you mean. Creatures that don't use tunnels still causing the little colour notifier. I don't know if that's intentional though.
It's helpful even if the creature isn't imminently about to come through the tunnel. So in my opinion vultures should still do it.
hey so I was wondering if anyone else encountered a bug with the waterfront shelter just before the gate to garbage wastes
my game was playing fine until the shelter failed, which is fine and all but when trying to exit the room to the right, the game just auto crashes, and I've effectively soft locked myself
is there a way around it or am I just doomed to reset the run?
i sort of had that but with the shelter close to the jellyfish unlock, i'm trying to fill the collection menu so i had a cycle where i was moving pearls to a different shelter, sometimes when i go to the furthest right pipe, going toward ||struts|| it would crash
also maybe try and wait til the pre-cycle is over then leave

Just got a data corruption after dying by falling to the abyss with a squidcada as Spearmaster on sky islands, at the communication tower in Sky Islands. It crashed when i was at the game over screen and i knew it was gonna happen. Thankfully i downloaded the saved data from yesterday so i dont lose everything

hibernating with a slugpup in pipeyard for some reasons sends them to the shadow realm, one of the weirder bugs but not super game breaking
Only Pipeyard for some reason, and from any hibernation point. I first encountered it coming from Shoreline, then immediately after coming from Industrial Complex since they came back after I used a Passage, which is the only way to fix it yourself I believe.

i heard passaging might help bring them back but in the future dont have slugpups if you need to go to pipeyard
I was doing all passages in my gourmand run so I kind of had to visit pipeyard to get them all, honestly really sucks that a bug like that even exists
dont know if its been said but on the ps version you can no longer passage to a region you shouldn't(ex: Rivulet passaging to ||Rubicon||) you can only passage to regions you have visted during that playthrough, switch still lets you so i dont even know if its safe to passage to a region you are supposed to be allowed in
if you passage it should bring them back i think
dunno if this counts as "a region you are supposed to be allowed in" but i did passage to metropolis on switch as survivor and it deleted my slugpups and made my rain timer permanently invisible
this was last patch i think tho
technically survivor is not supposed to be allowed in ||metropolis|| during the story or expedition unless thats the starting region(monk and gourmand is included in this)

Iirc even if you turn off karma requirements the only way anyone that isn’t Arti can get into metropolis is either by spawning there in Expedition or Passaging

It would be nice if the passages were limited to “Regions You Have Visited Before But Have Access To Normally”
Such as Spearmaster being able to passage to ||Looks To The Moon|| if you have map data there even if you haven’t been there in your playthrough yet
While stopping Spearmaster from passaging to ||metropolis||
it might, i'm going through it on the ps4 version for the first time(mainly to see if it will corrupt my data) so it might let you do it in a second play through but definitely wont let you on your first if you havent visted it yet as that slugcat

Sanbox kept freezing for me, gonna see what is happening with it
Not particularly bad since you can still pause and exit out but still annoying
At first I thought it was because rot ate an elite scav and the game didn't know what to do with the mask
But now I think it's when a specific song starts to play

i started testing it and it happened multiple times inconstantly for different songs

i feel like my ps4 version knows i'm backing up my save so its not crashing, i heard ||the rot|| has real bad performance issues and crashes, but its been fine for me
Decently often on my end, it's the daddy long legs that usually do it for me, they get into weird spots and the console no like
i've seen them in weird spots too but nothing
First time exploring the rot and i noticed 2 things:
- i love this region
- I experienced awful frame drops in a few rooms with a lot of active rot but no crashes

I just looked up Rain world on the switch marketplace to find an update and downpour is $15? What caused my save file to be wiped then?
I think save file wipes happened no matter if downpour is bought or not since it’s not supposed to be wiped
only save slot 1 was wiped though, not two which was my friend's
How do I get it to update? It just says purchased when I look at it in the marketplace

playing as saint with jolly coop causes the rain timer to not show up

had that happen to me on switch but everything came back when i quit the game and went back in
just the basic idea of "static thing kills you if you touch it"
It makes it look like you’ve lost everything but then if you close the game it turns out fine
They fixed the audio bug then it came back a day later

No. I let the game on fearing that if i closed it, the game would save the data and I wouldn’t be able to get everything back. I then went to sleep, putting the console into rest mode with the game open. Idk if i closed the game when going back in or if i closed the game and then downloaded the data
