Crashing on game startup with workshop mods on linux (Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS) [SOLVED]

so I'm using linux with proton experimental and everything except workshop mods worked great but for those mods I use the WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command% startup command. This worked fine for over a month but now I started randomly getting crashes on game startup (on the black screen before the game dev logos can even show up) after enabling seemingly random workshop mods, I've tried disabling them all and enabling them back one by one but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't for the same mods even. Once it crashes on startup it usually doesn't fix until I reboot and sometimes the workshop mods stop working until I update the mod list. I've also tried using the protontricks method for getting workshop mods to work and that didn't help

One other thing is when I verify the integrity of the game files there is almost always 1 file with an issue and this seemingly always breaks mods

I was going to get the log but it currently is working fine(?) I'll see if it breaks again I'm adding mods 1 by 1 again

Ok it started breaking again heres a log:

nvm it seems to be updating idk how the date works, anyways this is the log file after verifying game files, its much shorter. It still crashes after restarting if I dont verify files first, it crashed for this log too

This is the 2nd time this happened I forgot to mention it, iirc both times were after trying to disable a mod after verifying the files and rebooting (so currently the mods currently aren't working)

this was sbcamera scroll but the first time was with cooptweaks

it started crashing after I opened the game again and and closed it once, based off the log it seems like it was still trying to load sbcamerascroll

but the main thing I think is that its skipping more scug expansion and remix which some mods enabled need

yet it loads them

Ah shoot I forgot to write down what I did to solve it, its been a while so I don't remember the exact details. If I remember correctly, what fixed it was oddly enough running steam in big picture mode so try this first. I know I also unsubscribed from every workshop mod and ran the game and resubscribed to a couple at a time so that may have been part of the solution as well (take notes of what mods you have before unsubscribing)
