the way it works is:
eat a blue fruit to satisfy monk, don't hurt anything to satisfy saint and starve to get passage progress in each
after starving, you fix the starve and meet one of the echoes, which reverts you back to before you starved
rinse and repeat for each echo and you can keep getting more passage progress
