It has been several weeks since you’ve had dreams of re-occurring nightmare

It’s always the same: you find yourself standing in a field of black- and red rot; you know what it is because your family has warned you about it

The rot surrounds you quickly, and you are unable to escape

You squeal as it wraps its tentacles around your body and consumes you; your flesh feeling as if it is being plucked away from your body painfully

And then you wake up.

Your heart is pounding furiously, and you look around quickly to find yourself in the shelter you were sleeping in.

This angers you; what could this even mean!?

You sigh as you hear the gears of your shelter door begin to open.

What now?

Get out

[sudden saffron]

check the cycle time

You crawl out of your shelter, the bright sunlight giving you some comfort.

Checking the cycle time, you see that the cycle will be long today. Great.

What now?

Looking around, you see that you are inside a small-chamber like area; two vulture grubs are flopping about. There are a few rocks and a long piece of Rebar near the room’s exit.

Yes; but it is made out of a grate, which is how the sunlight is coming in

You check the map; there’s not much on it. Just the room you are in and that’s all you’ve recorded.

What now?

Where do the pipes go?

You’re not very sure; but you think it leads to some sort of underground tunnel system.

I meant the directions of all the pipes in the room

Now what?

Enter the only pipe, i guess

You enter the little pipe, closing your eyes as it leads you down bellow.

Upon opening your eyes, you find yourself in a dim room lit only by sleeping glow mice hanging above.

Grab one of the lantern mice and look for pipes out of the room

[timber loom]

You begin to reach for one of the lantern mice, but its senses alert it and cause it to run into one of the two exits of the room. Great.

Now what?

Jump on another with full rivulet speed and grab it

[timber loom]

You dash toward another at full speed with no warning, and before it even has time to react, you’ve caught it. It squeezes its eyes shut and squeaks loudly, struggling as hard as it can in your firm grasp. Yay!

Now that we have light, in what directions are the exits?

There’s the one to your left, which is where the glowmouse ran to, and the one to the right, which is just there. Yeah lol

You head right with the captured mouse in your arms.

…

You enter a small tunnel; this you must crawl through. You notice that there is a vent shaft that drops down, but another opening above it. Where do you go?

You decide to crawl down the pipe. It’s quite claustrophobic in here, but that has never been a problem for a little Slugcat like you!

You see a vent opening and drop down through it, rolling to avoid getting hurt from the fall.

The room is quite dark, but at least the glowmouse is helping a bit.

What do you do?

You pet the glowmouse, and in response it squeaks angrily. Looking around, you see that there are several large glowing mushrooms and black ferns growing here. There are some rebar spears littered here and there too. The sound of chirping bat flies catches your attention.

=> grab a spear and try to hunt the batflies

=> grab a spear! grab a batfly! eat! grab a shroomy! take drugs eat!

Picking up a spear would require you to let go of the glowmouse, but at least the room is well illuminated, thanks to the shrooms.

You let go of the mouse, and it scurries away quickly through one of the exits. You pick up a spear closest to you, and jump up for a batfly

It is relatively easy to catch, due to your swiftness.

It lets out one last chirp before you munch down on it. Yummy!

You pick up a glowshroom and eat it.

Everything slows down around you, and your body is filled with an unknown pleasure

You do just that, grabbing as many as you can in your soothed state.

Eventually the world goes back to normal.

Suddenly, you hear the sound of something traveling through a vent opening.

Out of the vent crawls a mole lizard

What now?

=> stay very, very still and hope it goes away

The lizard sniffs around- probably because of the mouse- circling back a few times before going into the way you came from.

Now what?

=> go through the vent the lizard just came out of

[timber loom]

You enter the vent

=> look around, light sources?

You look around. There are platforms and poles that lead to the exit of the room above a high stack of worm grass. There are lanterns attached to pikes to the right of the platform you are on.

Now what?

=> grabbe le lantern

[timber loom]

You pick up the lantern, feeling it’s warm glow in your hands. This is a significantly better light source than a glowmouse.

What now?

=> check rain timer

[timber loom]

You check the rain timer. 1/4 of the day has gone by, so you’re good on time.

=> find food

[timber loom]

You look around in the room you’re in right now. I mean, if you could eat worm grass, then you’d probably be full. In other words, there’s no food in this room :/

=> look around, is there any pipes around you?

[timber loom]

Yes; across the platforms above the worm grass, you spot a pipe, it’s symbol glowing brightly. If you could parkour across the worm grass successfully, you could make it.

=> get to the pipe and try not to fall

You parkour across the platforms and poles carefully; as a rivulet, you are good at this. You luckily don’t skip a beat as you jump from pole to pole. Before you know it, you’ve made it to the pipe!

You enter the pipe!

It spits you out inside a vent, with two directions you can travel to- left or right. Where do you go?

You crawl through the right pipe

You end up in a room lit with slime mold. Yum!

While admiring the mold, you notice a U shaped symbol above one of the two pipes in the room. A shelter!

=> yum delicious eat yum

You squeak happily and eat as many slime molds as you can. They are crunchy and juicy. Yummy!

You are full!

[quiet bridge]

=> go eep

Although it is nowhere near the end of the cycle, you decide that it’s safer to sleep for the night.

You crawl inside the shelter, placing your spear down on the soft grassy floor.

As the shelter door closes, your eyelids become suddenly heavy. Before you know it, you’re asleep.

That night… you have the same nightmare. The field of red and black rot. Your assumed fate.

You wake up, heart pounding once again.

You sigh as the shelter door begins to open…

SHELTER INVENTORY: -spear

What will you take?

You take the spear, feeling it’s unusually sharp tip. Anything that decides to mess with you today is gonna have a bad rest of their week.

You leave the shelter, admiring the glowing slime molds again.

=> eat the slime mold until your food pips are filled

You do just that. Yummy!

Now what?

You check your pups and timer. Obviously, you are full, and the day has just begun… and it’s gonna be a long one.

Out of the corner of your eye, you see it- the strange, white, ghostly one eyed creature. An overseer!

You’ve seen a few of these when you were a pup, but your mother and father hissed at them and tossed whatever item they had in their hands and them.

Sad; they always fascinated you.

This one points In The direction to where you just came from.

What now?

Forgive me, where you came from yesterday

Now what?

=> explore the area it directed you to

You go back into the pipe you came in from yesterday. Once again, you’re in that platform room with the worm grass.

What now?

=> look around, is the overseer directing you to any more pipes?

The overseer points to where you came out of yesterday! Are you seriously gonna have to backtrack to this thing?!

Or maybe…

You could see this more positively!

What if it’s leading you somewhere cool?

=> go to where the overseer tells you

You begin to parkour back where you initially came from

Suddenly, the pipe begins to flash orange, and before you know it, a centipede crawls out!

Oh no!

[weary onyx]

=> kill it with your spear

[timber loom]

You throw your spear at the centipede’s body. It gets lodged between its armor plates, and is stunned for a moment. However, it angrily gets back up, and starts to crawl on the wall toward you. OH NO!!!!!

what now?

[weary onyx]

=> flee and start questioning why you aggravated it

[quiet bridge]

=> grab the spear back from it

[timber loom]

You wait for it to crawl close enough to you, and pluck the spear from it. Now what?

[quiet bridge]

=> stab AGAIN

[timber loom]

You lodge the spear into its head. This time, because it was partially hanging on the wall, it falls into the worm grass. You hear it spark it’s electricity one last time before it is consumed. YAY

Uh.. now what?

=> NOOOO SPEAR GOOBYE

=> anyways follow overseer again

You parkour across the platforms and back into the other room.

[timber loom]

Looking around, you see that a few glow mice are being perused by a pink lizard. What now?

=> KILL KILL KILL LOIZOR

=> WAIT IM SPEARLESS

[timber loom]

You have no weapons….

[quiet bridge]

=> GRRR I NEED A SPEAR

[timber loom]

One of the mice escapes through the room’s exit, while the other runs straight toward you. On the ground next to you, you spot a spear. What now?

=> JUMP OVER THE MOUSEY AND THWACK THAT DUMB LIZORS FACE IN

You let the mouse pass by you and hurl the spear at the lizards’s face. It bounces off, stunning the lizard for a brief moment. The lizard hisses at you, and prepares for a charge. What now?

You boing boing hop over the lizard, picking up the spear as you do so. You then turn around and stab it over and over again, until it moves no more. Yay

The overseer appears again, pointing to… whatever. You just wanna see where it leads you anyway.

You run back into the room where the lantern mice came from (aka the worm room)

Yes, the mouse is there, but once it sees you it tries to run… right off the platform. Wow.

Lantern mice don’t really care about anyone do they?

As you do so, you suddenly hear what sounds like cooing coming from a hole in the wall next to you. The overseer continues point forward. What now?

You cautiously crawl into the hole, your lantern in hand. Looking inside, you notice that it is a lizard den.

Two pink baby lizards are curled up together, occasionally nuzzling each other and cooing.

You pick them up, gently placing them on your back and tail. It takes a bit because they honestly WONT STAY STILL!!!! AAAAAAAA

But you finally get them in place.

You crawl outside the den. Looking up, the corpse of the lizard you killed is still- OH NO

The baby lizards suddenly start whimpering and looking at something that’s on the ceiling.

You look at the cealing and spy a DROPWIG just hanging there!

You set the lizards down gently, placing them near the dropwig corpse. They do not hesitate to begin eating it.

Once they are full, you place them back on your shoulder and tail.

It picks up the spear with its little mouth and presents it to his sister, who then proceeds to have a tug of war with her.

You find pictures of several different creatures and their anatomy, like lizards , nodeflies, vultures, scavengers , centipedes, glow mice, and… SLUGOOOOS!!!! All of your attention fades to this page as you see the anatomy of your own kind!

You spend several minutes observing the page. You are absolutely in love!

Once it is over, you chirp to the lizards to follow you, and enter the shelter. They look around curiously… at the strange, warm room they are inside. As the doors begin to close, the lizards jump and run to you, hiding behind you.

You reassure them by stroking their armored heads and putting lightly. This puts them into a calm state, and they curl up together, their eyes lids slowly growing heavier.

You curl yourself around both of them, and soon enough, you are fast asleep too.

… this time, you have the nightmare again, but it’s different. Instead of a field of rot, you sees giant mass of it, slowly covering the land you have known all your life.

You wake up again, heart beating. You would feel frustrated if the babies weren’t sleeping on top of you.

You slowly hug your children, happy that you have such a privilege to take care of them. They wake up now, wagging their tails and nuzzling your neck.

The jungle seems to continue onward ahead. What now?

You jump down, landing on the soft moss. Looking around, you are surprised! You find yourself in a giant cavern.

Then…

A smell catches your nose. It’s… you’ve never smelt anything like this before. It appears to be coming deeper from the cavern.

You sigh, realizing how silly getting scarred of them was.

You move forward, spear pointed out to the direction of the smell. The cavern turns right, so you follow on through. What you see next… truly surprises you.

A small glowing substance seems to dance above several cut logs. Two creatures sit in front of it, drinking something from a strange bottle, and talking in their language. There is a small hut- like structure next to them, and strange tools placed around them. Both of them have backpacks, much larger than the leather pouch you have.

So basically, Wryn (the scug you are playing as) wanders into a strange den that’s actually a cave enter an e and makes contact with a new, intelligent species that functions much like us- the chosen. They are just anthro animals lol.

They had a fun little interaction with them and now we are just following them.
