I've done it solo for each of my saves. On the first save, I finished it with all 4 characters in the first event week, so there was no Elite mode, but I managed to get everything. For the second save, I did the same but in Elite mode. So, by the end of the second week, I was through with TR.
All in all, for me, the event was a welcomed change of pace. I liked the characters + preload approach that pushes players out of their comfort zone but, as with most Dying Light 2 events, it was buggy/glitchy as fck.

I didn't get many glitches but after i did a few tower runs my main game save started to freeze every 30 seconds for a while and then if i went into stash it would freeze indefinitely making it impossible to play. That weekend i only backed up on a Friday and lost 15 hours as i had to load up a backup. No problem as i mainly did runs to help others. The other time was when i finished a solo in Elite mode (for the Van Aiden stuff) it crashed after i started the elevator to leave and i got no treats or stash. Again, no biggie. Oh, and apparently using all my candies to buy Pumpkinades would send the game to long loading times. I feel ya.

there was an issue after the introduction of the elite mode with inventory if you exit the TR by quitting the game session.

as for game crashes, maybe those are hardware issues. I'm running DL2 on Acer Nitros 5 and so far it runs smoothly.

it used to be the easiest in 1st week of TR coz the Rage booster granted full physical dmg immunity + 100% on dmg dealing with everything. After the patch full dmg immunity is gone still the 2nd tankiest character.
If U wanna cheese TR solo then Scarecrow is the best bet just coz of those molotovs. There is no self burn damage from molotovs and Scarecrow can craft rank 9 of those. U can use molotovs to fix mobs to an area while dealing with bosses.

ok so if you have the bloody ties Dlc and just go to the back of the building you get driven too you can get large infected trophies consistently if you're not able to fight volatiles, mediums are actually funnily enough rarer imo to find but it's still halloween event till the 25 so you could buy those crates that cost like 1200 candies and get small, med, and large infect' troph' i'm pretty sure,
and lastly just look for the orange screamers in the daytime to attract them runnin' zombies i cant remember the name of and that's at least a good amount of of small trophies if you can survive.

As for money i'm pretty sure just spamming quests should give you enough every so often but other than that, unless you want a mod that balances weapon selling then you should probably hope for good crystals in the Gre quarantine locations, also old inhibitor crates give dust among other items iirc.

side Note: When i first started, blades seemed really rare as i was used to dying light 1's loot system, but vendors refresh every 30 mins apparently so you can get quite alot of blades from them, scrap too; always buy more scrap than you need just like the wires in terraria haha
