If you actually use the block mechanic you dont need to perfect block with it to take 100% no damage against most attacks it's kinda useful. most people prefer to go full out offensive than turtling so it's just preference.

Can block specific heavy attacks from specific enemy (Brute / Two Handed Renegades), it doesn't pose much of a use against infected though

I mean I think it's good because you don't need to counter perfectly to block damage, but the passive for it to proc with a perf block is 10% so realistically. most people don't see a point.
I use it more than the uv flashlight in normal gameplay but that's because I play like a psychopath. Run in with no UV's and because I dodge like an idiot everywhere I get blocked into a corner by a bunch of infected block like 30consecutive hits from all of them if i don't get jump striked and I'm able to hit them with the AoE charge.

There’s a mechanic in the game you like. Not judging and not dissing. My mechanic in the game that I like is blowing shit up. Different enjoyment
