Games go on sale all the time, Epic offer free to keep games all the time. It is something inevitable, and i think the post launch support and amount of free content balances it out.
Keep in mind over that time, on multiple occasions we have given welcome offers, free bundles, events that unlikely will return - if you got game early, you had so much more value you could get for free than players who are freshly joining the adventure. We are including it in this edition. Over last 2 years we had a lot of updates, free content drops, from bundles and dlp, to just the events that may not return. So new player doesn't get as much as those who played since release. Reloaded edition will give some additional value to new players, who might have missed everything you had a chance to experience and get
