The reason people use the glitched machete is because it's OP, it kills everything and anything within 1 or 2 hits, some people don't feel like hitting 1 heavy renegade 20 times because the damage output is ass.
If you use a mod menu to spawn in a "glitched weapon" with a million attachments on it, it's still a modded weapon.
Yet the person who used a glitched machete did grind for the event, 50 envelopes in a single day is nerve wracking. Most of the rewards we've seen on pilgrim outpost don't exactly give you the "sense of accomplishment" anyway.

I get that it looks cool and glows, but the immunity reduction doesn't make sense, imo they should've made it cursed or a glass Cannon weapon, you deal more damage but enemies deal more damage against you, (the division 2 perk reference)
