The main reason is management of Techland, they managed things HORRIBLY, and I mean it. The production was one big train wreck and it's not even guaranteed that the game would've been in a good state without the controversy surrounding E3 and without firing Avellone. I don't want to badmouth the (now ex) CEO of Techland on this server, he tried and had good intentions, but his ego, inability to accept feedback from employees and settle for a different idea than he had in mind is one of the bigger reasons. He apparently constantly changed his mind on things, one time Techland was developing something, the next day the idea was scrapped and all work gone to the trash. Management didn't like looking at grey boxes, so when an idea was supposed to be presented it had to be developed to a level that was pleasing to the eye (which slows down development for absolutely no reason). There is so much more to this that I won't write right now.
