Yeah it's dumb, but, it's just used as a way to interrupt a scene, like in sons of anarchy they used the cell phone ringing and them answering as a way to break up the scene or transition...its used to reset Aiden to a neutral state, so you can begin combat.

So far as I know you can still finish the mission even if you didnt meet them, you just need to wait for the side quest to reset then you can do it again, one of the answers is the correct one, I completed that one quiz quest and I know for a fact I chose the right one before ever starting the carriers questline

Can't be. If DLC 2's map was located in the same worldspace as the base game, people would just find glitches and exploits to access the new map. Plus imagine the amount of space it'd take up on the Hard drives of those who don't want to or can't play the DLC

Although, saying that, since the map just keeps track of WHERE you are and isn't the real map, Techland could hypothetically merge the base game's map with those of the DLCs, so you could Fast Travel directly to say, Carnage Hall, or DLC 2's area... hmmm
