The Alpha Volatile Tyrant could have its own small map where it has phases to the battle. Forcing you to fight through nests and to destroy said nests to stop the Alpha from healing (he'd heal a max of 25% hp). The lower his hp gets the more aggressive he gets and more types of attacks he dishes out, he'd even have special type of armor phases where you'd need to use different types of weapons on him since other weapons would be innefective dealing amall damage, for example one armor phase would require you to use explosives, the other blunt weapons, another would be sharp and finally ranged.

Think about it, DL1 takedowns were not only faster, they were also guaranteed kills on enemies, whether it was stun kills or stealth kills. Stomp and drop attack were also instant kills. Now in DL2 they don't insta kill if they're a "tough" enemy or are higher level than you.

There's also the numerous nerfs / changes to stuff like the grappling hook, Korek Charm, boosters (2-3 times now), gear, weapons and more.

It's like DL2 is some sort of MMO that Techland wants to balance or something, none of it makes any sense. The "maybe they're prepping for PvP" argument has no ground either since PvP and PvE were treated completely separately in DL1 with how damage and items worked there.
