You could try to run up and dropkick it, but, like, it might insta-tackle you mid-dropkick (if it stays still and holds the tackle button right after a successful tackle, then it faces an enemy that is close enough, it can do a second tackle immediately, without running—that is one type of insta-tackle).

there is some wonky stuff with dfa though

the backlash skill works if you're not in range of a pounce but it is just better to turn your attention to the nh tbh

Ok, so, like, Dying Light is really poorly optimized for laptops. Even the Steam page says "laptop GPUs work but are not officially supported" or somethin' like that. Gaming laptops also tend to overheat easily, so undervolting the CPUs to minimize throttling and thus improve performance is advisable.

The mod was pursuing theoretical balance based on a rigid measure of skill so depending on one's definition of balance, it was "fair" from a purely technical perspective but of course didn't give any room for flexibility or deal justice. The concerns were very different in pre-dlr vanilla btz as the most notoriously hated feature was autobalancing that changed the difficulty parameters based on winning side's lead. That was one of the biggest problems dlr aimed to fix to make the game consistent.

The current state of btz is pretty much a 70% complete frankenstein implementation of the mod with some cut corners so it's a bit like getting scammed

I was more intrigued in that briefly popular mod, vanix, was it? That aimed to make btz more immersive and accommodate newbs instead of cater to the pros. Not that I'd want there to be a lot of cheese, but because it embraces the game's identity better. Less of a sweat battleground of numbers but more fun and surprise.

Some people do use them to finish off low-health night hunters, but, if you want to do big damage, use 2 crossbows, a heavy 2H weapon and a 1H weapon.

Heavy 2H weapons (pickaxes, sledgehammers, big axes) are very strong. You can 2-hit kill the hunter in anything that isn't a 4v1.

In a large, open field (most ideal place for humans), yes; however, some of the hunter's combos (GP → UV Spit → UV Block/Heal → Pounce—esp due to the spit-stun animation that can prevent humans from throwing a flare) are extremely difficult for even the most skilled players to counter. Tackle is undodgeable if any of the following are true:

• The human was not looking at the hunter when it initiated Tackle (even if the hunter is a bit to the side of their screen, that can make the Tackle undodgeable).
• The hunter is above/below the human whilst close to the human.
• The human is falling (and did not grapple-cancel).

In architecturally complex environments, the hunter can become unfightable because it can animation-lock humans to death between two walls/obstacles (for example, with GP → Crouch/Claw → Pounce spam) or repeatedly tackle humans from above (the human's long stand-up animation can give it plenty of time to reposition).

Anyways, there are advanced (tendril-GP) techniques that can allow you to do significant movement while charging a GP:

• Claw + Tendril at the same time (start with Claw slightly earlier)—aim far ahead to fly forward while charging GP.
• Hold Claw → Howl (or spit) → wait for the animation of the preceding thing to end → hold Tendril → release Claw when you want to GP.

Second one's cool. You'll be tendriling and charging a GP simultaneously.

What a great question. So, the direct answer to your question is "no". While the human is being tackled, they cannot UV, but they can interrupt you if you try to pounce them after.

There's a scenario in which you can get a guaranteed pounce, though:
If there are 2 humans, you tackle human A, then human B gets knocked down due to being close to human A, you can quickly pounce human B.

That Tackle shockwave seems to briefly UV-suppress allies near the Tackle victim. Human A has to save human B from the pounce, but, from my experience, A will not recover fast enough to do this if you pounce B immediately after the Tackle against A.

It's not only the knockdown from the Tackle shockwave that can briefly UV-suppress people—even knockdowns from explosions (maybe even from goons) can guarantee your pounce.

It is so unfortunate that Fokus2EZ's (older) channel was deleted. There's a tutorial of his that I liked to post in order to demonstrate the "tendril-sprint" technique, which can give the hunter a very nice speed boost.

This tutorial is sort of advanced and mentions details that are likely easy for brand new people to forget, but, basically, if you tendril onto the ground as you sprint, you give yourself a speed boost. That stuff about "one-hand" and "two-hand" tendrils isn't important to memorize until you reach a certain level of experience.

Oh, by the way, this can save you from DFAs. If you hold E while sprinting and look up at a human falling above you, your Tackle will outrange (as well as take priority over) their DFA.

Also, you mentioned Tackle → Spit, which is a nice combo; however, tendril-sprint → howl GP → spit is less risky against people that are good at dodging tackles. I recommend getting used to primarily using that.

No special condition. Simply sprint, keep E held down, look down (or up) towards where the human will be.

I assume you are misjudging the distance. Like, if you're on a small building, and the human's on the ground (below you), the human's gotta be really close to that building.

Hmm. I'm not aware of any cheats that prevent the night hunter from being able to tackle from differing elevations. If you can attempt a tackle at all against the human in question, cheats probably are not the reason you cannot tackle 'em from a different elevation.

Well, um, there actually are many ways to legitimately annihilate nests very fast: burning throwing stars, chainsaws, gas-tank explosions etc.
I'd only be concerned if you saw 'em oneshotting volatile spawns with their weapon or with a flare—now, that would be cheating, though it would have nothing to do with failure to initiate vertical tackles.

Mhm. I'd say: you must be above or below, but you must be "close to them along the forward axis" (maybe that's too game-dev-centric. Idk).

You can be slightly above/below or you can be far above/below—the vertical range can be quite impressive.

Tackle happens automatically when the human is in range, if you are sprinting and E is held down. E could have been held down for 10 seconds and it would be fine.

Are you aware that the matchmaking is ELO-based?

Like, green matching (5 bars, especially) means the game thinks the player is at your skill level. Less than 3 bars means they are possibly either too nooby or too skilled—if the latter, you'll get a pop-up warning about the skill difference if you try to join their game, but you can dismiss it and still join.

I generally keep going for the ones with the highest matching.

Admittedly, the ELO system isn't very sophisticated. Fortunately, as of right now, in my case, everyone with green matching tends to put up a good, enjoyable fight. Yellow matching is usually some newbie.

Yeah, the order of my list there reflects what each mutation allows you to unlock.

At mutation 1+, Concussive Spit can be unlocked. At 2+, now you can also have Toxic Spit, and so on.
