doing a gp spit was way harder

doing a tackle spit was impossible

like imagine yourself as a night hunter just existing

then getting dropkicked to mars from a guy that was 10 - 20 feet away a second ago

but some cheaters somehow made it so you could do that even after the event by modding their saves

Indeed, during Invasions damage to all enemies is switched from absolute numbers to %-of-hp-per-hit. This is to equalize damage output between poor pipe users and bozak mask dark machete gamers. Biters and Night Walkers share a damage category, goons have their own, nests have their own and the hunter has his own.

The only thing that slightly affects some of the hits required is whether or not the damage stat on the weapon passes a certain threshold or not.

This mechanic is actually why the 1h weapons of which we shall not speak instantly kill night walkers, but not goons or hunters. They exceed the damage threshold that was scripted in so the DFA attack would always instant kill. If they hadn't programmed it that way, DFA wouldn't kill biters.

So this is why some pro players use 100 health as humans

The 100 health thing is cuz hunter damage is percentage based and full recovery upgrades can crit-heal 95/100 hp. Upon revive you get 25hp, while hunter GP deals 20%, in this case 20. You would survive a GP after revive. Thanks to the 80% damage reduction during the get-up animation you'd even survive a claw attack follow by a GP.

The 95/100 regen thing is valuable in situations like swimming, where you can't trigger a medkit heal. Even tho crit heal doesn't start until 4s after taking damage, it does heal faster than a medkit heal once it kicks off. Generally though keeping your medkit on is probably more effective.

Dealing with AI zombies gets tougher as a result, but with a bit of strategy you can handle those guys at that advantage.

It's got a small cooldown before it can be triggered again. But what I think you might mean is-- If the ground pound hits, recovery animation from the attack is short, if it misses, it's long.

UV Healing or Climbing can break a Hunter out of the recovery animation.
