landing tackles starts with being able to make humans lose track of you, even for a split second is enough to land a tackle

that's competitive for ya, if you're trying to get really good you need to learn to do weird stuff sometimes to break patterns
that's one of the things you want to avoid btw, don't make an easy pattern for your attacks, if every time you approach humans, you ground pound for example, they're gonna catch on and grapple away as soon as they see you approach em for an attack, you can try to fool em by faking them out in this case, cancelling the gp and instead going for a tackle which you can do in a split second

because that's one of the main things people pick up from hunters, if they notice you gp every time they evade a tackle, they're gonna dodge away to avoid it

the first one is a tendril ground pound, if you hold left click and tendril at the same time, you'll start tendriling to where you're aiming and start charging a gp as shown, the closer to the ground you do it the better, that way they won't have time to react, the example I showed would be pretty predictable but it's just to show you what it does
the second is pretty simple, a howl ground pound, if you howl and hold left click, you'll start charging like shown without clawing first, combine it with tendril sprinting and you get a very clean gp
