it's a niche game, so not many people are appealed by it. I wasn't much of a fan of it either, interesting concept but not my cup of tea

i personally loved it, its definitely one of those games that start out slow during the first couple of hours, until you get the bike atleast

my fav thing about it aside from the plot and trying to unwrap it as you play was the planning your approach side of it, if you take a delivery order 80% of the time you'll go through an area with BTs and obviously the rain, there's a resource management side to it and you have to think about how you wanna do it, if you just try to sprint your way through it your cargo will get fucked up and possibly ruined, its like the hitman games where u make a quicksave and if u fuck up u can just try another approach

oh and obviously the scenery, the graphics in that game were mind blowing

i've gotten to a point where i'd rather have devs make games like death stranding where they try to make something new and you can feel its fresh while playing it than make the 100000th braindead shooter or be a "copy this franchise but change it up a bit so its not obvious" kind of game, if you've played enough of every genre the only new games that you really appreciate and don't just play to get them out of your list are the ones that you can notice the difference in on atleast one aspect, they can patch and fix bf2042 as much as they want to, it's fundamentally still the same game as bf4 and that's just not gonna cut it anymore

So once again discussing TLOU2’s story. In defense of it, it’s mostly a good game, in a lot of aspects. First off, I wanna talk about the ‘revenge is bad’ narrative. Pushing aside opinions entirely based off of emotions, the motive isn’t an excuse to call the game bad. The whole franchise has never pushed themes or arcs that end in a one dimensional way. Now, I’m not saying the games have never dealt with themes or something like that, but it’s never been the focal point. Both games have a emotional beginning dealing with terms of loss. Both convince them selves they need semblance for what’s been taken from them. Once again, I’m not prying open the ‘revenge is bad’ critique isn’t 100% incorrect, it’s exaggerated on a lot of shitposting reviews.

Onto Joel’s death. I can understand if you thought Joel dying by a golf club was silly or a poor decision, I agree actually. But it’s a hyperbole. The past two games have been made very clear of this realistic death setting. First it was Bill’s partner, who hung himself, dealing with depression and suicide. Again with suicide, Henry shot himself because his brother was bitten by the infected, seeing only one way out after that. In the second game, when Jesse rushes in to confront Abby, he’s shot dead. Leaving Ellie no time to grieve or toll over the body, knowing that she has to save Tommy before she can think about that. And again with Manny, Tommy shot him almost directly in the eye, and in a moment of no hesitation, Abby pushes through the door, blood on her face, huffing and puffing dealing with the loss of her dead friend. Joel’s death wasn’t taken in a unfair manner either, if someone killed your dad you wouldn’t give them a mf Jesus on the cross styled death. Considering Joel and what he did, was fair on Abby’s part.

Mentioning woke propaganda, it was never a big emphasis the series. The first game we dealt with Bill, who was obviously having gay tendencies and identities. He very much talked about him in a partner manner. And in the DLC, Ellie clearly had a relationship with friend, Riley. Whether you like the dlc or not, it’s canon. And the SJW shit is exaggerated, having trans/gay people in a game isn’t unrealistic, even if there is more than one, and the emphasis was only pushed once or twice.

The most controversial point is Abby’s mercy. The point was never always to kill Abby, as her friends, enemies, and herself was reminded of the consequences of seeking revenge. While fair points are made, they too are out of line. Now theorize yourself in Ellie’s shoes, you travel to a place wanting to redeem justice for Joel, only to finally get seconds into it and realize the things Joel’s done, especially the hospital incident, the whole reason she was mad at her, understand that Abby killing him was fair. Any other critiques I’ll be happy to hear from.
