once you get to fully experience Elden Ring, you'll see why people are praising it so much. The game does things others don't. It doesn't hold your hand. It gives you the freedom to play how you want it. You are not playing as a pre existing npc in that world, you are playing as yourself. You don't know the world, you don't get dialogue to show that something is close and you have to explore. That dialogue is now your own thoughs. "Hey, that zone looks interesting, let me go and check that out instead", etc. It makes the game experience feel unique, non interrupted and immersive. I don't know any open world gave that has done this. Points of interest are not automatically placed on the map, you don't automatically know every single spot on the map, etc.
