I feel like his personal character struggles with his dead wife and The Marker and everything was resolved nicely, and as we see with DS3 he's far less characterised since the more interesting story arcs of his character were already completed IMO

Ehhh I'd rather shorten the timeskip between ds2 and ds3. I like ds2 the way it is and I wouldn't trade the ds1 callback in the ending for anything. In ds1 he has a Nicole jumpscare but in ds2 he looks to his right and sees I mean he is relieved that he managed to destroy the part of his brain where the Nicole trauma was because the marker was using that to manipulate Isaac and now the replicating neuron is gone and he isn't haunted by hallucinations anymore. Ds3 is just weird and cliche with its human enemies and interactions.

I probably would've had Isaac angrier than depressed in 3, more in the spirit of the Take Down the Terror trailer. Carver is interesting but I feel like Ellie's role dropped a lot of significance she could've used.
I'm literally gonna come up with my own script on the spot that I would prefer over the rushed doodoo fard ds3 is.

Isaac and Ellie try to return to a normal life but Isaac finds himself so scarred due to the events of the first two games he can't forget the past. Isaac notices that there is a unitologist uprising on the Lunar Colony and he begins to hunt down unitologists with a lot of influence. The military and law enforcement basically collapses because half of them believe in the bs and the other don't. A civil war breaks out and Carver being one of the enforcement personnel helps Isaac because they have mutual agreement that the unitologists are crazy. Ellie, instead of being an unempathic bitch, sticks with Isaac because she thinks he's had to fight alone for too long. The unitologists start constructing a marker and Isaac knows shit is about to go down so he tries to gather what few people he knows and raid the unitologist hq as a last effort to stop another necromorph outbreak. They basically launch their desperate attack but this makes another rebel group notice them and they're rescued from their suicide run that was going to end horribly.

Then this new group with the help of Isaac and Ellie make the same discoveries they did in the og ds3 and that leads them to Tau Volantis. The unitologists realize they're missing something crucial and start to track down Isaac for his brain just like back at Titan. As Isaac's group explores the ship graveyard they start dying very tragically one by one and have to land on Tau Volantis with the unitologists on their heels. As soon as they make it there instead of a bunch of people just going out in a single bang, people from both sides start dropping like flies as they basically go through the same places they do in the real ds3. Carver gets separated and trapped somewhere that will keep him safe and the unitologists understand what the place is and steal the codex and start following Isaac and Ellie who think they are chasing the unitologists to the machine but unintentionally lead them to it.
Ellie and Isaac being the playable coop characters (should've mentioned earlier) make it to the machine but are ambushed and the unitologists TURN IT OFF but since that starts killing them, Isaac and Ellie break free and get on one of the unitologist shuttles but Isaac realizes the only chance to stop the convergence is now and he heads back alone and flies to the machine and turns it on but on the way his suit gets so damaged he basically flash freezes himself along with the moon and Ellie escapes being the potential protagonist for ds4 and the moon falling lets carver out of his trap and he could either get his own spinoff game or dlc that would replace awakened.

Not saying that ROTTR was bad, but it was definitely the worst out of the entire trilogy, the story was boring with no interesting characters besides Jacob, the whole language mechanic was just annoying if anything, the crafting system was unnecessarily made more complicated, the ancient coins were really hard to gather up for something to buy and even if you did, there was barely anything worth a while
