In the 21st century a metor struck earth making humanity almost go extinct and after 25 hours or so scientists came and for a new element (marvel type of stuff inbound) and they called the new element "element X" and this new element make big breakthrough in the scientific field and well we make jump drives and stuff (also dude who discovered element X is called henrick "Henry" Hammond and he became like really rich and made Hammond robotics and so Hammond robotics made like and interstellar manufacturing corporation called IMC and so the IMC mines other planets and humans have colonised other planets but this is mostly happening in the inner regions of space called the core systems and the further parts of space (the frontier) imc didn't mine a lot cuz its far and many ships don't come back and in the 28th century core systems start running out of resources and they decide to go the the frontier and the survivors who crash landed there and 300 years prior were able to survive and live and make society useing Hammonds equipment so any place habited by humans in the frontier belongs to Hammond robotics and they were like "nice lemme get this resource* and the ppl in the frontier refused so broke out was between the IMC and the militia
