If I were to make a video on it, I want to limit hiding as much as possible, which seems like chase sequences is the way to go, but on second thought, it almost feels like stealth is even better as chase sequences can be cheesed by simply running to a portal door.

The difference is BF1 is mostly historically accurate and tries to recreate real events and stories, and gives the players the ability to make the twists for the outcomes. It's as realistic as you can make it while keeping it fun.
BFV on the other hand is a bit of an odd one when it comes to campaign, the stories are less typical and I don't know enough to tell if they could've actually happened but I have a feeling that the answer is No. They have simple objectives and little variety for gameplay as well. As for multiplayer, there's a crap ton of unnecessary customization, and a lot of fictional bullshit. The game tried to improve upon bf1 and only successfully did it in a handful specific gameplay elements, the majority of which were just less buggy versions of the same systems. I've also heard gun balance is terrible while BF1 has some pretty good overall balance with a few guns standing out more, but they don't make you god.
I like BF1 because I love the immersion of it, and that is constantly broken in BFV.
And don't even get me started with the censorship of necessary parts of WW2 in BFV, none of that exists in BF1.

I felt the same way for quite a while. I think with enough runs you get used to it. I think the two most important things is to unload on him with lock-on-burst when he goes in to attack, and get rid of his summoned demons immediately. Whenever he is being annoying and getting really close to you with the shield, then you should either Ballista boost or dash away with the energy shield active. Latter always works for me.
Always use lock-on-burst for the trap attack, as well.

As for the timing, I find the first phase far harder because you have to give him a lot of time. In the second phase it doesn't seem to be much of a delay.
Obviously the second phase is harder, but the timing isn't as bad.
