If you're struggling with the Doom Hunter then you can always play it safe and simply stun him with a grenade or plasma rifle shockwave and bloodpunch his sledge. Then just fall back and glory kill some demons to get your bloodpunch ready again and repeat.

I found the dog to be fine. I was mostly struggling with the stun. I seemed to always shoot him correctly, yet, many times he didn't get stunned and just went through with his attack.

Might have been a bug. His pathing was also quite strange in the level's first few days. Overall it launched with a lot of bugs, so you're definitely not choosing a bad time to play the level now.

I don't think DOOM Eternal is worth playing on a Switch though even if it plays well.
Nintendo doesn't offer much of a gaming experience. The UIs, controls etc. just aren't worth it unless you have absolutely no choice i.e. Switch exclusives.
