once mouselook was introduced in quake, the default control scheme was still with mouselook disabled if you can imagine that

it still played like doom unless you went into the options and deliberately enabled mouselook always on

so just imagine if we had let motion sickness hold back game design back in the 90s, games now would be....so much worse lol
