as someone who played it over multiple runs and wanted it to succeed since its announcement + my overwhelming love for Sci-Fi and dystopian settings
it looks great visually, music was amazing, story was also good (only for the prologue) and its the cast itself did well.
But everything gameplay wise just wasnt there (other than the netrunning that was dope)
The story wasnt all that good either, basically no stakes were even in the mix.
Its just "You're god of Night City, kill Smasher and topple the strongest people in the mix"
Then you get a multiple choice of endings (Considering you actually play the game, you can not get locked out of any other than the "secret" one)
I havent played Phantom though, so not much I can say on story there.
Combat and AI changes were nice, my problems with the player movements and clipping are still there though

Not yet, I have managed to beat that one section of a dungeon which is a definition of a shitty level design:
So basically you have to leave one of your units to die by pressing this button which causes the row guillotines to drop on you, then you have to make sure that the other units go on that button before it goes back up again, you also have to make sure you're not doing it in Fever mode hence it causes your units to jump after a command input.
Enemies can activate it too, but it's simply not worth it to time it right hence this is the only section where it requires you to sacrifice your own unit in order to progress.

Perhaps, but you have an army, you can choose troops you want from: Soldiers, Spearmen, and Magi (each of them doing something different, and having different formations by pressing: circle, triangle, and square respectively. At the start of the game, you have like fourty units available and get like twenty plus more after completing a mission, you also unlock recipes for armours, weapons, and items. When they get hit, you can 'revive' them by hoovering over to them, they only really die if they get hit by electricity or if you didn't get to them on time when they were laying down.
Oh also, after you kill an enemy via your goblin army, you can have your units eat their corpse for potential materials or blood used to craft said gear, arsenal, and consumables.
You also get materials by letting your units die in some ways, but that does get you a lower rank in terms of keeping your units alive at the end of a stage.
Anyway, this is how the units screen looks like (I only began the game so that's why you only see the Soldier units), oh and that 'start' button is... yeah.

The diallgue was too expositional and aloy is very one note so I couldn't get engaged
The intro to the game is way too long and holds your hand for 5+ hours before letting you truly explore
The level gating in the world just compounded that handholding too, felt very restrictive
And the gameplay was decent, but it lacks any real mechanical depth or variation so I couldn't feel compelled to keep playing even for combat
I did enjoy the world and exploration (when I was allowed too) and the game is also beautiful
