Depends on playstyle, I use the Dual Full auto SMG's for scouts secondary and plasma rifle but best damage can go to the Rifle for scout if overclocked (i forgot names of the guns)

yeah for me the assault rifle was my go to as primary because it did decent dmg had graet ammo and great range, it just wasnt a hoard clearer, which is why I would use grenades and secondary for that.

my only gripe with the smgs were they were ammo guzzlers.
