but riders republic is one of if not the most fun games i've ever played in my life

like this game restored that early 2000's level of love for ubisoft

its just fun

like think GTA 5's online races and how fun they were, mix that with forza but remove the fact that forza's free roam is bloated

oh and the fact that they were able to make it look this good, be this big and still feel like a lightweight game (fast travel takes like 2 seconds), same with starting an event is just insane

they also made it that the entire open world itself is a playground, you don't even have to do the events if you don't want to, just for BMX and skateboarding as an example there's spots scattered around every spot where you can do skills, it's just a perfect system

i know everyone is gonna disagree with me on this but like setting aside opinions it's a major improvement in both gameplay as well as customization, origins looking back at it feels like the beta for this game

which is why i just don't get the hate people have for odyssey, they talk about it like it's the DMC2 of this franchise

• It got rid of the garbage shield animation parry style system for the better reaction based input one
• It has more animations among my personal fav the unity style jumping assassination
• It made customization 1000 times better by letting you select higher level gear and still switch how it looks to what you want, so you can just have that look you want regardless of gear
• It brought back the full black flag / rogue type ship warfare instead of having you play it only in aya's sections like origins had
• Introduced the mercenaries system which is a watered down version of the nemesis system from the middle earth games but in the context of the game and for what they were trying to achieve it works so well and makes you wanna climb up the ranks
• Introduced community creations mode which if you know about it you can literally skip the grindish aspect of these games if you want to, don't wanna grind levels ? literally just do a quest where you walk 500 m and gain XP

these are the improvements i've noticed so far and i'm not even that far into the game

like community creations on its own is a fucking huuuuuuuuuge W i was surprised when i saw it

People hate odyssey because it it's overwhelming to players, everytime you open the map you get blasted with like 50 quests in the zone you are 100 activies, and they are all mediocre at best, the world is so big they filled it with boring activities to make it look like there's content
Quests being level locked is also a big reason, you literally had to buy an xp boost so you can skip the tedious side content and enjoy the main story
I have no idea what the community creations are, never saw them when I played it, but the game was a massive grind fest when I played it, to be able to progress in the main story, I had to do like 80% of the side quests to be able to progress

the thing is that's an issue origins also had but i dont see anyone complaining about it

like the level capping for quests in origins had you having to grind 5 levels between story quests at one point, when i replayed the game i felt it which is something i ignored during my first playthrough cuz when you're playing the game for the first time you'll just do the side quests so you won't notice it

as for the community creations in odyssey it's like forza horizon 5's custom lab events

there's a bunch of them that have you just walk a distance and gain XP

you can literally use this same take with origins but people praise that game's open world even tho it's 80% sand, we all loved the aesthetic because its literally the desert and its egypt and you have the pyramids and all but through this same concession the same can be said for odyssey, the same thing with both black flag and rogue yet no one complained about them back in the day, odyssey brought back the naval conquests gameplay, it's the modern black flag where the open world is you going around islands

imagine black flag ship gameplay in a map that's small, it just wouldnt work which is why you need that type of map

Uncharted came out the same year as AC1, so the parkour wasn't all that revolutionary

yeah but what AC did was be one of the first open world games of that generation and have a linear story, as well as how big the open world was for the time, it was just fresh and i personally remember it to be one of the major revolutionary games, it was basically prince of persia but open world and it was even more impressive when the 2008 prince of persia came out and flopped, then in 2009 2 came out alongside infamous, prototype also came out at around that same period and the genre became clear, but like what AC started was really mind blowing at the time, for me atleast

whats even more impressive about AC1 is how it made us forget we're doing the same shit all game

like thats how much fun it was and just out of the ordinary in comparison to everything else on the market at the time

like its not even a joke the entire game is al mualim telling you go kill this guy and come back to me to tell you some wisdom quote, but because you're just gasping at the environments its not even noticeable, that game is goated i swear
