what the first 2 test drive unlimited games were from my pov is the answer to the problems that plagued racing games after their peak during the 2000's era, and that's their constant need to have a story / plot for starters, and then beyond that their identity crisis between being arcade games or sims, lastly the map design

imagine a stripped down to the minimum version of forza plot wise, and instead of having a magical land where you buy cars it's more realistic with dealerships

I was actually impressed how satisfying it was.

There are lots of things that can itch you like mouse smoothing, translation of cursor sensitivity to looking, responsiveness, freedom of movement in the engine and how the game world's physical constraints respond to your character interacting with it, feedback of using implemented features...

all of those just felt right

and I was impressed because it's easy to get them wrong

so one of them always bothers you in a game you otherwise like

I honestly don't know what made it die in the end, maybe it was the lack of a good gimmick like Evolve.

On its own it’s a fine game but it was a really bad left 4 dead successor due to lack of realism and likable characters

I didn’t play any dlc or any of the game since finishing it at launch but from what I remember it was horribly unbalanced (specials spawn way too often) and didn’t even have an offline mode

I haven’t heard much about the dlc but it just looks okay

idk how you guys didnt mention this but my main gripe with the game is the zombie AI and how its glued to you all the fucking time

it's like playing a high round of zombies in cod except thats how it is from the start of that game, and once they do pile up on you and your character's movement gets slowed down it just becomes cancer to play, then u have the dreaded checkpoint system that doesnt make any sense

the game needs a complete redesign imo, the only thing to keep is the weapon animation system

It was just too different than L4D which later was its downfall. Maybe if it was more streamline then maybe it would've survived. But I just had no fun with it so even with friends, the game had promise but since DLCs were payed they had no chance. Games in this market need something free to prosper. It's sad but it attracts business.
