like whenever i'm contemplating buying a game i'll switch it up in terms of who's videos i'll watch and i'll always find that the video itself is garbage by my standards, like regardless of which game it is i'll usually atleast have a background knowledge of a certain franchise and i'll expect them to touch on those points but its just not there at all

they all either take the nice guy approach or criticize things that are subjective and you shouldn't even mention in a professional review

the reason i stopped watching him back in like '14 is i started noticing a trend in his reviews where he'll just say something that completes misleads me about a game, the exaggeration for me was what made him fun but idk i just don't trust him or anyone else anymore, watching reviews for me is the equivalent of searching through garbage, i'll try to take what i can from it but i'm not expecting anything

I watched like 10+ other YouTubers play this on launch and like 6 of them had some lag. 4 had a bit of screen tearing because of the resolution for some reason being forced to put on 4K while they played on a 1080p monitor. But come on, it wasn't that bad

Ragnarok really lacks the spectacle the series is known for, it's been too casualised, the puzzles are too easy to be interesting, the combat is fun but it's so easy to kill enemies you won't ever fully enjoy since the enemies die too fast, the bosses while diverse compared to 2018, are just plain boring aside from 2 or 3 fights

gaming in general is getting more stale because there's not even a fraction of innovation as there was back before companies like ubisoft, EA and bethesda kept copy pasting their shitty formulas and everyone was trying different things out to see what works

this is for the base game that was released since i didn't revisit the directors cut (im mentioning this because they apparently just hand you out the bike now), but the first 3 or 4 hours are what drive most people away from it since you gotta do everything on foot, it's its own game really there's nothing to compare it to, you basically have to manage your weight from the cargo (you can carry on your left / right side as well as your back), different combos of where you put things will give you a different overall load, the missions for this period of 4 hours are basically an indirect tutorial of the game's mechanics, you have to deliver something somewhere, go figure out how to get to it, people call it a walking simulator but that's only if you make it out to be, the depth is in the arsenal of traversal, it's the best take on hiking, how do you get over this mountain that's blocking your way ? do you take a detour and risk encountering the BTs (monsters), do you use the path that someone laid out for you (the online aspect of the game is you'll find a ladder or a rope someone set up and you can like or dislike them like the messages in the souls games), sometimes it'll be a trap set up by bandits, as far as the combat goes it's once again its own thing, guns are very barebone and much different than your average shooter, i was like 12 hours into the game and i didnt have a lethal weapon, even the encounters with the BTs you just gotta use blood grenades

eventually you'll get the bike which'll make things alot more easier, from that point on the traversal will become super fun, you'll be able to build crazy shit like straight up bridges to skip a path that would otherwise get your cargo damaged (btw theres a rating system like the hitman games where it'll be based on how well you deliver the cargo, if it rains that causes corrosion and you'll have to use a spray to repair it, it still doesnt put it back to perfect state tho so if you're a perfectionist you'll constantly have to make quick saves load back and think about the better approach)
