Elden ring is open world for a very specific reason, actually I think the first area the game sets you in (limgrave) is probably one of if not the best designed "first levels" in any game atleast that I've ever played.

It's literally perfect, so many lessons are taught the player through gameplay and action rather than tutorial popups and hints.

Fromsoftware do such a good job at environmental tutorialization. Bloodborne did it great too with it's first level

Yeah they were hands down the worst experience I had with Elden Ring

It's a roundabout point to say that the first boss, margit the fell omen is basically a massive tutorial for elden ring.

||Most players are just gonna progress normally, and you can get to margit within minutes of entering limgrave. Most players will attempt the boss at an early level and get stomped over and over again.

The reason why it's so easy to get too but so hard to beat at an early level is because the game is teaching you not to enter an area and immediately try to find the boss like you might in the rest of the series.

The game wants you to explore, once you realize you are under leveled for margit and give up, you are gonna go back into limgrave and see what you can find. You have this realization that the game never wanted you to go to the boss yet in the first place so you end up spending the next few hours of gameplay exploring

Then you come back and you are the correct level for the boss. But still will likely get stomped considering margit teaches another lesson to the player which is the principles of proper rolling.

Margit along with quite a few of elden rings bosses, has an interesting quirk. His attacks are very slow with a long windup. The animation startup is way earlier than the actual attack. The game is trying to teach you not to panic roll, as when you see the attack startup and start spamming roll then you'll get hit everytime.

They want you to slow down, and watch the animation. Then you learn how to successfully roll through attacks||

(Spoiler tags as knowing this stuff could slightly kill the learning experience in Elden ring)

Likely you will, especially considering that elden ring does away with traditional farming because you can get powerful just by exploring the world. Which is very engaging atleast for the first 50 hours

the one thing i hate so far in ds2 is the progression in terms of damage

i have a +6 mace and upgraded the shit out of my STR but i still only do 1/12 the health of any of the later bosses

DS2 gives you such an abundance of souls

And it's very easy to Respec in that game

Bloodborne is a lot more brutal with it's progression

You've got to commit to what you level up from basically the beginning of the game
