Yeah that seemless coop mod is very fleshed out, it's even balanced in a way that makes it not too annoying or too easy. You get a debuff if you die, but it doesn't reset anything. The only way to remove the debuffs is to rest at a grace.
It can support I think 4 player coop, which the main game also supports.

My favorite fromsoft game is Sekiro now, by far.
I love the direction they took, the boss fights feel challenging but not soul crushing. You just gotta slow down, dodging doesn't exist neither so you do have to parry.
It's just so damn cinematic too

Here's a quick rundown for me personally.
Bad movement
Too many artificial game hardeners (boss fights filled with mobs, no I frames for fog walls, limited healing, slow regenerative healing, slow rolls, and I frames being secretly tied to a stat)
The game has some really bullshit areas and the boss runbacks are awful.
Enemies have an extremely long aggro range and basically never stop following you
Bonfires are too few and far between
Illusory walls + pharros doors are just annoying

Like the boss i'm currently on has 3 phases, the 2nd one he'll light up his body on fire and if you try to hit him it'll get on you and reduce your HP, his 3rd phase he also lights up his sword on fire and will insta kill you, all of this and he has the most BS run in gaming history
And this is just one of the 2 bosses in the area im talking about, the 2nd boss is even more BS since his run has 2 of those turtle shell mofos blocking your way so you HAVE to kill everyone up until you get to him

This one specific line in the beginning of the game is another reason why I think the team who made this didn't understand dark Souls
They are trying to be cute about u dying a lot "yeah dark souls is hard buckle up"
Like no that's not what these games are about
They aren't just hard for the sake of being hard
Yes, but the difficulty isn't the core feature. When challenge is present, and the challenge is fair. Overcoming it is extremely rewarding.
When the challenge is cranked up to 11 just because "dark souls is supposed to be the hard game" you lose the rewarding nature of overcoming it as it no longer feels fair thus is no longer enjoyable, just frustrating
I go back and forth between Sekiro and DS2 when just using the term "hardest". Sekiro robs you of all the tools you'd normally have and forces you into a single playstyle. If you have trouble adapting the game feels impossible sometimes, but never unfair.
Dark souls 2 however does have the tools to make it easier, but at the cost of everything feeling very unfair and just overall bs
