see this is where the analogy is wrong, even the type of person who plays on easy is gonna die atleast once or twice with the bosses they have on that difficulty, i saw this first hand with a friend when he tried the valkyries in god of war, they're easier but still pretty hard, my analogy would be the effect chuck from bcs has, it's just there in your mind, if you're good enough to beat them on easy while playing on easy you're good enough to eventually beat them on ng+ hard

Different people like different games, and games should be different and offer different things and that's how I should be, it's not locking yourself to just a certain type of game it's just choosing to not play games you don't like.
For example, I don't like sports games. But I wouldn't make EA add an armory system to FIFA so I could just get some guns and mow down the other team (as cool as that would be) because I know that would ruin the game for it's actual fanbase. A fanbase I'm perfectly content not being apart of.
People who like mindless meat grinder, or people who play all their games on "easy" or "story mode" aren't gonna like dark souls. And that's something they have to accept, as a huge fan of forced difficulty I could never being myself to ask like Id software to lock DOOM to ultra violence or nightmare because even though I wouldn't be effected it would ruin the experience for a ton of players, all because I wanted it to be different.
Now, if id software came out with the next doom game and said "we think it fits our vision to have a locked difficulty" I wouldn't try to argue and I don't think anyone else would have the right too. Ultimately the devs get the final word on what gets implemented into their game. If it doesn't fit their vision you can't force them to add it

i get what you're saying but the type of person who'd keep fighting even on easy can do it on the hardest difficulty, if you're gonna quit at a certain boss fight you'd do it on easy as well, it's why people quit fs games at bosses that are considered relatively easier by others, when the difficulty isn't defined at all the only thing that's stopping you is yourself, i think the only "easy" mode that should be in the game other than the default one is an accessibility mode, then you can just play that same mode if you absolutely don't wanna pour the time in, i'll use ragnarok for example just to make you see my point further, ||there's literally (not even joking) 5 fucking difficulty levels, WHY ? like this is what i'm talking about, are all games gonna resort to this just to cater to everyone ? like person 1 found boss 1 too hard, give him this level, but person 2 found boss 1 to be easy however boss 2 too hard so we gotta cater to them too, the other problem in the same game is how they kept the trend of GMGOW going which is probably one of the few things that i actually have to criticize, GMGOW is the NG+ difficulty mode (before they had an actual NG+ with the update), the difference in the first game was that enemies deal tremendously more damage (even the basic ones) which completely nullifies the effect of exploration and the natural flow of the first playthrough, the first basic NPC shouldnt 1 shot you in any mode, at the same time tho to top off this shitshow its the mode with the hardest bosses and it's just like once again, WHY ? they literally bait you into picking it if you didn't know about it or played the 2018 one at launch and then you're stuck in this dillema of thinking you're trash when you're just ill equipped for the mode that's supposed to be NG+)||
