Yeah, sounds like oil leaked and they are not lubricated all the time anymore and it takes some time for them to get oiled up properly
when you say oil leaked i panic thinking its gonna leak on my mobo or gpu and destroy them
it's not conductive at all, so no need to worry, if you want you can try cleaning it with a paper tower once in a while
also, you saw how small the ball bearing is, there ain't that much oil inside one of those
Are there any potential long term issues that can arise
Just a bee tear
your fans will lose efficiency and will break much faster
well that is not a problem, fans are cheap i could just buy couple more after several years if they break
but wouldn't you say it is too early for mine to make this sound
well, yeah, that's pretty much the worst that can happen
aside from the sound
how long have you had the fan for?
as long as there will be no fire inside my case
could be a defect from factory
That's about when it started happening for me

wild
My battery hasn’t exploded yet so you should be okay
That’s normal for cheap fans
It's 3 fans in a unit, and 1 fan does that

Not all 3
Aussie...question, have you been cleaning fans regularly...since that last time?

Last time?
yeah, low quality bearings causing leaks
Last time was September
I'm a PC noob and didn't clean my PC for like over a year, I eventually cleaned it early 2022
It was
CAKED
In dust
Well, the fans were
Nothing else was
dude if you sneezed on the fans, your whole room would've had 1 cm of dust everywhere
I wonder if that’s what caused my laptop battery to do what it’s doing
PEOPLE, CLEAN YOUR FANS AND KEEP THEM CLEAN OF DUST they can save you a lot of money
Daaaamm
My friend learned a hard lesson when he refused to clean his psu fan and it died on him

jesus christ
How did that happen
THAT'S A FUCKING HEALTH HAZZARD
A FIRE FUCKING HAZZARD THAT THING IS NOT SAFE
Yeah, a c4 also works, doesn't mean it's fine to stay near it
My brother's laptop had to get its battery removed because the adapter he was using for his charger couldn't handle the power
So it fucked up the battery
Now he can only use the laptop when plugged in directly
With a new cable
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6HDS-qF6Cw this can happen at any second
Laptop Battery exploding whilst I was showing a client that i had reinstalled Windows for him.
Notice 3 individual explosions as separate batteries exploded.
I run a small laptop and computer repair shop in Rockingham Western Australia. This laptop came in for repair because a corruption of Windows that was stopping it from booting.
I had it...
DO NOT FUCK WITH LITHIUM BATTERIES
I have a charger that melted and technically I’m on my third official charger
The first charger broke
Original cord
It went snap

TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOUR SHIT
terraria
ah, the good old fucked up charger cord
i used to have this ancient ass 1 gb ram pentium 4 laptop waaaay back in the day, the charger would literally just stop working so i'd have to do the good ol' cut the cord burn it and then wire it up together and duct tape it, that laptop did well by me
lmao noice
RIP Kevin Conroy

@somber valve they have REUNITED
fantastic
speaking of ragnarok, time to play some more
I'm amazed that the laptop continued to operate up untill the SECOND explosion @0:25 !
I had a gaming laptop back in 2010 that had dual nvidia 285m gpus in it, and one day I heard the fans start buzzing suddenly, it was the HUGE ass battery swelling pressing against the fans! I was lucky I didnt have my headphones on for that moment otherwise I'd have been fucked!
Man imma have to wait several years for PC version
ain't gonna buy a ps just for one game
Same
I bought a Xbox one s just for red dead redemption 2 when I remembered how long it took gta 5 to come to pc
I sold it as soon as pc version was announced lol
Such a garbage console. That whole generation was sad for consoles
especially sony now got their own steam page so I think it won't take that long for Ragnarok to release on pc
It was tbe generation they all gave up and became shitty gaming pc's without any unique hardware
Sigh
Ps3 was the last great console that was something special and different from a pc
I never even owned a ps3 myself, but I'm a hardware junky
I've always leaned more on the pc side of things for that reason, but if I had to choose a console in that era it def would have been a ps3
I can't even remember the last time a console could even compete with the pc exclusive market, I guess thats why they became shittier pc's ultimately lol
Basically it wasn't untill 3d graphics became the norm that pc became the superior platform from a hardware capability point of view
Pc couldn't handle 2d gameplay with the smoothness and speed consoles could becuase they had specialized hardware just for that purpose
Thats the entire reason Id software became a household name! John Carmack figured out a way around the smooth scrolling issue and he started making a pc port of Mario 3 in hopes of getting a deal with nintendo
It still didn't look as smooth or play as smoothly as the consoles though, but it worked! It made 2d gaming actually viable on the pc.
This is tech demo created by John Carmack and John Romero from which eventually became Comander Keen.

anyone here good at reading cursive?
came across an old drunk guy in red dead 2 who wrecked his cart, and i zoomed in on one of the papers that was on the ground

So many people speaking at once.

I'm installing Infinite again.
Sadly no further story content is coming
Any of yew nerds got star citizen
that's basically all I could translate
Gentlemen
One of my trading salesman Ms. ( someone's name ) finds me in (something) open from past issues calling attention to ( something )
and that's probably not accurate at all
I picked out about the same
Especially the "calling atfention" part which I found odd considering what this object is in game
A random piece of debris more or less
Game companies love to hide jokes in stuff like this
yeah
In cyberpunk there are entries on computers that are "corrupted" with just a buncha random letters and symbols
But if you look closely you'll notice that there are letters every so often and if you take those letters and ignore everything else it becomes a message
Heres what it says. I spent a good 15 min on deciphering this...lol"Corrupted file ethier due
To environmental exposure scavenging or data crash"
Thanks for trying! Cursive writing like this is HELL for my severely dyslexic brain
I mainly write in cursive so i could kind of read cursive, but then there's old cursive and i have no idea how people read that
np
Muscle memory, muscle memory... I will learn it eventually.
The time it took me to get the timing for quick swapping weapons
so turns out an rtx 3080 can run super smash bros ultimate at a resolution of 11520x6480 while STILL maintaining 60fps....o.O
What kind of fucking resolution is that
Nasa super computer type shit
6x that of 4k lol
take 6 monitors at 4k and put em all together
if this is possible on an EMULATOR, then this should show just how underpowered nintendos console is compared to a gaming pc. it was never any question if it was, but the degree to which is fascinating
they used to hold the top spot in their hardware generation, sniff
the switch is literally running the same hardware as a tablet from 2015
1st party devs are just masters at optimization
Optimizing the Nintendo Switch to a fucking NASA computer
the fact they even got cdpr to port the witcher 3 on it as well as the doom games is a meme
24K 💀
How much do they spend optimizing compared to console and PC devs?
if its made for switch id say its pretty easy
if its a port though....at least you would know exactly how much you CAN do
and if your really lazy, you do what they did for the switch port of the witcher 3
they prob pay the 3rd party guys a good chunk, hell i remember even the original wii had some cod games released on there, they looked all pixelated and shit but still
CD Projekt has confirmed the resolutions The Witcher 3 will run at on Nintendo Switch. In a tweet, the developer said its expansive open-world game runs at 540p in handheld mode, and 720p, with dynamic resolution enabled, when docked on Switch. 540p handheld, 720p, with dynamic resolution enabled, on screen
the wii was quite literally two gamecubes stuck together lol
well not literally shockingly accurate
at the same time tho its a good deal if you release your game on the switch since its the most profitable market if you can get the game on there and win the fanbase
mofos barely have any sales and nintendo is still afloat and kicking
True but fucking hell, porting some shit to the switch looks like shit when you play it
I'm looking at you, Dying Light
from a hardware perspective the wii was comparable to the gamecube in much the same way the ps4 was compared to the ps4 pro
nintendo literally sell you 2 generation old hardware but they got that loyal fanbase
it has the hardware of high end gaming tablet lol
ever realized that their strategy for hardware design coincides with there status in the market?
basically meaning they just lack the resources to compete with microsoft and sony on an economic level
True but despite that. Some games still end up to look like shit
hell the original xbox was sold at a HUGE loss
they were losing like 500 bux on each console lol
its what they do, the DS consoles for example barely were any different, like i remember they were advertising the shit out of the 2DS XL when the 3DS was the main thing, same thing with the Wii U to the Switch, they're really not that different when it comes to power they're just very good at releasing underpowered consoles and push devs to release games on there
indeed. mario odyssey is a great example of what you can do on the hardware when you make it for it
also breath of the wild
its honestly a good thing, like nintendo fans are adorable
3DS ❤️
the n64 was so much better than the playstation in almost every way except the lack of storage space, and the gamecube was in some ways better than the ps2, but the xbox beat them both with brute force
its good to have them around, i'd rather have 3 competitors than 2, especially when its nintendo and how well they're doing
after that....:(
however cant argue that nintendo first party titles are consistent enough to bet on their quality
nintendo know their market and they're proud of it
im predicting that in under 10 years from now, nintendo is going to release a stand alone vr console and they are gonna sell them at a huge loss becuase they will be entering the market with a VASTLY superior product. they are going to wait untill the tech has gotten to a small enough form factor and certain other parts become cheap enough to mass produce, and then they will dominate that market
like the fact that the steam deck is out and they still havent went bankrupt yet is a testament to how loyal the fanbase is
nintendo making vr games is what we need to show alot of these companies why their current methods are quite lacking
Bro imagine Nintendo going VR...
nintendo did the same thing back during the video game market crash in the 80s. while american companies were busy running their platforms into the ground with shovelware, nintendo was proving that quality is everything
What a turn to the tables that would be
they have been messing with vr with the switch their labo kits came out
they have the vr kit for the switch that turns it into basically a google cardboard device
they would most likely make a deal with Valve
what i want to see happen is see valve try to take a more aggressive approach of their own and use their influence on the PC market, especially with the steam deck, release a deck V2 and start forcing devs to optimize every game for it for atleast 8 years the way sony and microsoft do with consoles
Oh really? But isn't it just a big screen in your face for now?
they have a sort of...friendly relationship. they are the only pc centric company that nintendo even has a relationship with, and nintendo could easily take the "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" approach to buisness. valve doesnt compete with console market after all.
nah, the way it works makes that the one thing it sucks at lol
becuase your taking a 720p screen and cutting it in half
for each eye
the thing is the deck is literally a switch killer
but what you can experience is 3d depth and the sensation of being INSIDE the game
but obviously people are loyal to nintendo
like you can literally run yuzu on a deck
Oh cool
if it were competing with it sure, but the pc market is its own little bubble
if im not mistaken though i believe nintendo actually helped them with its design in some minor ways
Speaking of the markets, what market would be the best as of now?
not officially
in what way? from what perspective?
the thing that valve still dont realize which surprises me because it's pretty idiotic on their part is how you can't try to sell a PC console with their current model
they tried it with those alienware PCs a couple of years ago, failed
and now the deck is already outdated too
steam link
outdated compared to what?
Just... Idfk... From what each market does best? I'm not really a marketing guy
like its just annoying how they don't realize they have that leverage over devs
i mean new games releasing from now and upwards will struggle to run on it
(based on a plague tale and gotham knights)
well yeah thats to be expected
not every game can scale that much, as they need a bare minimum of certain things in order to remain functional
like you'll still play the light games on it and stuff thats optimized obviously but still, considering how recent it is it's a bit disappointing
like take for instance something like the distance at which grass is rendered in a game like call of duty
that grass could give you cover when your prone
its a thing they could fix themselves too like i said, use that leverage you have over devs, steam is still the biggest platform for PC games, have devs comply
so from a gameplay perspective, there is a minimum distance at which the grass HAS to be rendered
it wouldnt be as simple as just changing some graphic settings in a config file, to maintain that youd have to redo how the grass is rendered from the ground up most likely
thats just one specific example though. there are games like grand theft auto 5 that scale INSANELY well
it doesnt matter tho, if microsoft can force devs to optimize their games for a series s running at 1080p for the next 8 years valve can do the same for the deck with 800p
in fact it technically scales back to a high end ps3 title and scales all the way up to a ps5 level
i dont know many games that do that lol
your comparing mobile hardware to a console though, and your forgetting one of the biggest issues mobile hardware has
power consumption
and heat generation
you have to worry about how much power you can draw from the battery and at what rate
like if they were able to port valhalla on an fx 8300 and a 7850 (PS4 / Xb1 hardware) the deck can survive a lot more than it does today, the problem is just valve doesn't care and doesn't force devs to care
heat generation is simple enough to explain but imagine if your computer case was covered in meat and had no fans.....
id be downclocking the FUCK outta itself lol
yeah but thats the thing as a dev that's your job, any dev can use that excuse for the switch for example
or literally any laptop
well you cant work maricles, if they tried to do that they would end up with an atari lynx in the modern age
nintendo can do it, valve just don't wanna invest time into it
they're probably also afraid of the backlash they'd get
well look at the witcher 3 port on the switch
cuz people would be pissed off that PC became a console like market where you don't have to upgrade for the same amount as a console cycle
it had SO much done to it just to get it to work, and it STILL has to lower its resolution to as low as 540p just to hit 30fps and still has dips
yeah i know but the switch is severely underpowered, like there's a certain threshold that as long as you stay within you can optimize a game to still run well
RDR2 shouldn't run as well as it does on a PS4 / Xbox One if you try to use PC equivalent standard logic
same with AC Valhalla, Ragnarok, Forbidden West....or any of the recent games
also the PC ports devs release are most of the times just really lazy in comparison to the mainline console ones
it took at least a year to make the changes needed to get that port on the switch, the steam deck has been out since febuary
give it time, they probobly will do something like that
especially as they make more headway with thier OS
like for example the low end pc config for RDR2 looks a thousand times worse than the game does on the xb1 / ps4, you have no grass at all, shit looks blurry as hell since you gotta drop down the res scaling to 70%, that's just not valid scaling when you have hardware that's 30 - 40% better than that of those consoles and still runs it that bad
i honestly hope they do
cuz like if there's any time for them to stop abandoning their releases its now
gabe newell originall worked at microsoft on windows
so the fact that hes spearheading steamOS as a possible gaming focused alternative for windows is what im most excited about
Ease of console. Freedom of a PC. Massive game library with thousands of native Steam OS games + 5000 games via streaming. Bundled with in-game content and games. remember this meme ?
lmfao
I mean there's even an Easter Egg of him on an old Windows OS
@molten bloom @novel locust @worn isle
Yay
there is so much bloat added to operating systems right now, i wonder just how much you can squeeze out of a modern gaming pc with an OS designed for gaming from the ground up

hell there was an update to windows 11 a few days ago that screwed everyone over on game performance
the work they've done so far for linux gaming is commendable (even tho they literally just stole the work that was already done by the wine team and made it theirs as proton but whatever, as long as it improves the project and makes it actually official im all for it)

did you know that elden ring on the steamdeck is the ONLY version of the game that doesnt have stutterring issues in numerous game areas?
good
Elden Ring? Well that's surprising
even on my pc with an rtx 3080, that starting area with that forest, if im at 4k the forest makes me stutter every second or so becuase its dropping down to like 55 fps
i have to goto 1620p in a few areas like that so i just run at a lower resolution despite the majority of the game running smooth as silk at 4k
so its literally something in the drivers and the OS that causes the issue
it happens on consoles too in the same way but they tweak settings to make it less noticible, at least on the ps5 version
i remember reading an explanation for why it happens but cant remember
the details
microsoft try not to fuck up an already working OS every 2 updates :
i refuse to upgrade to 11
^
you're either one of the hype riders that install every OS the second it comes out to post a screenshot of it or you wait till they force you to update to it
by using some BS excuse like "this feature can't work on the old one"
ah its caused by background streaming of assetts
(like they did with windows 7 and DX12, even tho it was literally proven to still be able to work and brought back later on by multiple devs)
only reason i upgrade my OS is when they stop supporting the older version with directx
like directx10 wouldnt work on vista
becuase they said so
and i think they did a similar thing with dx12
at least im safe untill dx13
Why not
literally what they do
L bozo
Pretty pointless to me tbh
I got lied to
i was playin smash bros and thought i had a grapical glitch lol
Plus, the "performance boost" is only like a few FPS
why does he look like he's realistic af graphics
its his "furry" alternative costume apparently
It's like his nose looks like a ball of grass
microsoft releasing a broken new OS and going silent over forcing people to update it for like 5 years because they know it's not in a mass usage state and then when they finally fix-ish it coming up with this BS new feature to force you to install it
and then you have those microsoft shills defending them on why you need to get it and how its not possible on the previous OS
hell they said windows 10 was the LAST version of windows tehy would make, and would just update it forever and that was the justification for that goddamn microsoft account bullshit
he looks like a tennis ball with eyes
@molten bloom @novel locust @worn isle

Windows 11 looks and feels like it's the forgotten cousin of Windows 10

21 damage
they got that L bozo mac style app drawer at the bottom

imagine trying to copy macOS
Bro they did the funny Mac and chromebook shit
nothing i despise more than iphone OS
holy fucking shit, that whole one button thing turned to absolute SHIT real quick
trying to do things like switch between multiple apps and multitask is a fucking nightmare as a samsung note user
also i hate how they keep trying to hide and average joe-ify every setting and panel, like their whole "Settings" they introduced in w10 is made for people who never used a PC in their life, like many of the panels from the classic OS are still there but you gotta actually try to find them because they keep replacing them with the more "user friendly" ones
also the amount of bloat they put
YES
changing the names of all the places were all the things you need to access are in EVERY VERSION
control panel gets moved into a deeper subfolder with EVERY version of windows i swear to GOD
first thing i always do with that garbage is disable cortana, disable the search bar, install startisback, like bro stop putting more trash on my PC
they try to make things more user friendly but as a result take away functionality and make it more of a hassle to do something you already knew how to do before, its so dumb
program manager got renamed several times
also they keep taking away your permissions from YOUR OWN PC
why wasnt PROGRAM MANAGER GOOD ENOUGH
damn does it feel GOOD to hate on things though
oh and the thing i hate the fucking most is how they make you HAVE to use their piece of shit windows defender
YUP
like why do i have to use 3rd party tools, edit the fucking registry to disable the shittiest antivirus ever
its dumb how it literally flags everything
that shit really fucked vr performance up when vr first came out around 2015-16
when your doing vr several things have to take way higher priority than regular gaming due to the latency demands
like they literally force that noob PC user level of access on everyone to "protect" them because they know 80% of people are gonna get a trojan, it's like if every racing game forced you to play automatic with all assists on because they dont want you to crash
they should literally have a dropdown in the setup, is this your first time using a PC or not, if you choose no turn off all the trash

Pls don't ask for the song I could care less about drake lol
He gay

fr tho apart from that song and a couple more jason derulo has some bangers
like he has some certified hood classics straight up
drake for me is legit one of those artists i just know are there
i cant recall a single song i legit kept playing till i got bored of he made
like he's the type of mofo someone will play one of his songs for me in the car and i'll be like hey thats drake
100%
on a serious note tho
apparently takeoff got shot

i legit dont know who he is but apparently he was part of migos
2 Migos now
someone play TF2 ? 😊
He’s been dead man
Migos isn’t a thing anymore either and offset and quavo have beef
Wouldn’t be the same without takeoff anyways
Ima have to step in fr
oof didnt know about that
yes I like it
would recommend but for me it got boring
It’s a pretty solid wave based shooter. Can be repetitive at times but it’s still really fun
And on pc you can play custom maps
I’m getting it for console since it’s on sale for like $9
How’s the progression in it?
Pretty standard?
Definitely worth it then. You do level up pretty fast and there’s classes you can choose
Also 6 person coop is nice
Aight good I just don’t wanna have to grind so much to get cool stuff
Or at least tedious grinding
Getting cosmetics is kind of grindy on console since it doesn’t have something like steam market
Can you fully customize your guy or is it just a few things
Yeah you can fully customize but the body and legs are usually together
I played it quite a bit in the beta and when it launched. Very fun especially with friends but certainly repetitive
One of the things is hated was the slow mo
It's cool the first few times then I hate it
But the weapons specifically were always a blast
To try out the different weapons

i hope dl2 is on best ost
It has to be
About that....
Don't tell me...
Lichdragon Fortissax battle theme.
Composer: Yoshimi Kudo
Composition and arrangement Copyright BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. / FromSoftware, Inc
I think nobody stands a chance against elden ring in terms of OST this year
tbh dl2 ost better
Elden Rings ost wasn't that good
id be happy if dl2 just gets nominated though
The main menu earraped me so I just put my own music over it
elden ring ost goes hard
bitch you never fucking listened to the ost then
elden ring is gonna get nominated for everything
you listened to your own music, no wonder it wasn't good
it's in the background of my music
itll be like tlou2 all over again but it actually deserves most
I think there was like one fight where it was good? It was Loretta the knight I think.
Loretta doesn't even have her own theme
i havent even played 10% of elden ring and i know that 💀
God of War Ragnarok has some nice songs, but they kinda fall flat compared to elden ring
i wish i could play ragnarok
Looks okay
i havent even played gow 2018 but i really want to
also, God of War Ragnarok has the worst designed boss I've see ages
most of the bosses in Ragnarok are so blad
Elden Ring has worse 💀
Trust me, Elden Ring has some bad bosses too, but fucking hell that fight sucked so much
There was like one boss at the beginning that was just a normal soldier but had a huge health bar
if you want I can dm you what the fight was like if you don't care much about a boss spoiler
Soldier of God, Rick. Yeah, he was there to make you feel accomplished by defeating such a powerful enemy when he never ever tried
This is what he can do with a fraction of his power
do not ever underestimate Rick again, for he has given you mercy
I'll never mistake his mercy ever again
We won because he let us win
He wanted us to enjoy the game

what the hell is that
Soldier of God, Rick showing 1% of his power
I liked a lot of the slower, more somber tracks, or ambient stuff. But overall, I wasn't as impressed by the OST compared to other Fromsoft titles
I don't think there's a single track that I LOVE from start to finish, perhaps only segments
Funnily enough, my favourite is just the main theme Radagon / Elden Beast OST
I prefer faster songs personally, more emotional or motivating ones.
The slower ones definitely build ambience and tone though
The subtle eeeeeeeeee when you're underground in Nokron / Siofra is fantastic and eerie lol
Oh
I think you can get to Nokron after defeating Radahn, a hole opens up in Limgrave
Oh that place
I wanted to fight him but something about "the stars aligning" stopped me
What?
Dunno
The festival right?
After you defeat them, one of the stars fall down and break through the earth, revealing Nokron underneath I think
Yeah
Lemme check if it's still acting up
My brother said he just fought him and never saw this issue
What issue though
Cus you're able to fight him or not
There's a requirement you need before the festival can actually start
The festival host said to come back later or something
And I think it fixed itself
Yeah you need to fulfill a requirement first

The bosses in GoW Ragnarok are a fucking chore and really not fun to play against
How bad 1-10
So far, the ones I've encountered are a 3/10 on the fun and enjoyment scale
I had more fun with the godskin duo
I believe so
Thor looks hella fun at least
Not sure about Odin
And there's the Valk fight too
The Garm fight looks good
Oh Thor was actually amazing, the only boss fight I enjoyed
Not sure about anything else
Don't spoil bosses s
It seems very familiar
Iron man dies!
I mean, fighting Odin is as inevitable as Zeus from the previous trilogy no?
Wtf happened lol

One of those Brute carrier thingies landed right on me.
Lmao
I almost complete assassin's creed 2 on 100% but...
Now I need to get 100 feathers...
To be more precise, I need to collect about 60 feathers.
hi
Lol
they did most of em
It's Halo Infinite.
Laughs in 200 flying rats on gta 4
I know that quest too.
But I think it's more difficult and boring than 100 feathers in ac2.
controller is way better on souls games
yes
1st
He but whatever
Thx for the info
3rd. Yes, bo2 is still very much worth it
i know
WE GOT HIM BOYS INTERCEPT
Damn i remember this on reddit
Everyone threw these gifs was epic
Made a whole story in commentsection lmao
What a dog doin?
what says in the picture?
Yall interested in seeing some smash bros ultimate in 15360x8640 resolution?
Thats 4k times 4 lol
There's no point in having images that high res without turning them back into 4k or something
As some form of uber nuts anti aliasing
Exactly what I'm using it for lol
I'm guessing you're using nvidia ansel
Or just gigapixel ai for some bizarre reason
https://youtu.be/Fy2g4BgXxhI I disabled all anti aliasing and ran it at 4k times 4 recorded at 4k
thats FOUR times the 4k! this time, actually recorded and rendered in 4k!
i tend to get fixated on things if i cant beat them and refuse to do anything else untill ive beaten it, and everytime i lose, my brain seems to just empty out some sort of verbal cache my inner monologue had been preparing for use at some point in the near future.
Nope, just a switch emulator and an rtx 3080
Ok well uploading it to YouTube has effectively taken away any quality that you gained from running it at that res
Well the actual point of the video isn't the visual quality, more the fact that it's silky smooth at that resolution, but mostly it's me getting pissed off while refusing to give up trying to beat one stupid matchup on adventure mode
Plus did you actually record it in anything above 1080p at like 6k bitrate
Recorded it at 4k, it was ungodly huge file size for a video under 10 min
Doubt I'll be doing that very often, it's also a pain in the ass to edit even with DaVinci pro
Nearly 20 goddamn gigs lmao
Here's a still image
Its like...cgi rendered levels of smooth
Yup lol
Dem edges tho
Its like putting gold flakes into fancy alcohol or food
Well models are infinitely scalable because they're stored with math
Which is why they look nice
Textures however are not math
You do it mostly becuase you can. I can actually go up to 6x and still hit 60 for the most part
Has slowdown though
Can't have smash with slowdown
Not that hard to hit nuts render res with switch games on pc hardware
Crazy that emulation has come this far, but then again its hardware isn't exactly unique
I just want ps3 emulation to be in a very good state
Emulating an n64 or a Playstation 1 2 or 3 is alot more impressive
The older it gets the easier it is to emulate on hardware
I havnt tried it myself but I thought it was now good enough to enhance games visually on pc via emu?
Ps3 needs nuts cpu power
It's alot better
But still not at a point where it's very easy to pick up and play that one ps3 exclusive game you loved
Back when 3d accelerators first came out, one of the fun things that was common to do on high end cards was running games at stupid high resolution and framerates even in the late 90s
Running games at higher reses then your monitor for aa is just really annoying tbh
Dsr input lag and fps drop is just unbearable
People were already hitting HD resolution in games in 2000 lol just at 4x3 ratio lol
Not to mention other desktop things get fucked ip5
As long as it's never higher than 16ms it doesn't matter. Sure a rare minority can technically detect under 16ms, but it doesnt matter in practical gaming.
I actually wonder if they have done experiments on people's physical size and their abilities to detect input latency
Like rn im replaying Detroit become human and it's at a locked v synced 60fps
It's like 55ms or smthn
Technically a bigger person should have more of a delay due to the length the nerve signals have to travel
I don't mind it but it's a type of game where I don't care that it's not 3ms
Whoa WHAT
What vsync does to a mf
Thats like playing on stadia!
Man I never go without vsync and I'm never above 16ms
In mw2 I get like 10 with reflex plus boost
I'm not even using reflex!
I cant...if I enable it this white box appears in the middle of the screen and refuses to go away despite changing the options to not display that thing when its active
Oh well I'm at 60hz display. Going above 60hz on a flatscreen display is just unessessary, the tradeoff isn't worth it when you could put that towards better visuals. Only exception would be a racing game becuase the physics engine already runs at way higher than 60hz regardless so you'd actually see more details technically, but I can't imagine playing a racing game without vr...its too much of a game changer and it's the perfect use of vr
The type of racing games that have physics engines with extremely high polling rates are the games where youll feel those physics in the wheel not what you see
Nfs rivals was locked to 30fps on pc because physics and other things was tied to fps
True. Project cars 2 was a huge difference even with my shitty force feedback wheel
Compared to even dirt rally 2.0. I still love dirt 2.0 more than project cars 2, but I suspect the physics polling rate for it isn't as high as project cars
My main sim racer, assetto corsa competizione has a physics polling rate of 400hz
It has something in the way it feels that just seems more....present.
Project cars physics are a little wack imo
Using go karts in vr with that game was amazing lol
Acc is best hands down I think
Acc is the game Im fastest in with the same cars and same tracks
I wish beam ng would get vr
That is something I hope for one day
you guys hyped for NFS Unbound?
They recently made a bunch of huge updates on their engine
That reminded me of its existence and now I'm sad again
Once I saw its stupid ass visuals I died inside a little
I'm looking forward to it
I actually really love the visuals
See I think they look great
They've grown on me aloy
I hanvt heard anything about the gameplay
There's a but of info on the YouTube channel through what they call drops
Honestly looks really quite cool
The game looks like a bored teenager from 1989 took an extra dose of Ritalin and started attacking the screen with goddamn stickers and magic markers

But if it's open world hot pursuit I'm sure I'll find a mod to disable it
But then again beam ng spoiled me
Its hard to take crashes seriously now when that game exists
I still wouldn't call beamng a game
Despite how much has been added over the years
Yeah, it's a full on simulator
And I'm a long long time beamng owner
I've had it since the days you loaded into a level from a wooden signpost
There's too much realism in it for me to really enjoy the game
And that's a huge part of the experience, your failure is accurately represented visually when you fuck up, but when games use a buncha prefab destruction models it just sucks
i dont mind the effects since u can turn them off, what im worried about is the city design
Gameplay > Realism any god damn day
since its made by criterion
Your unfortunate correct.
the biggest L devs in terms of map design
Beamng is purely a physics simulator at the moment
I wish I could play it more but without any direction it just....doesn't compel me to do much in it but fuck around and marvel at it
Defintley, I'd hate in a racing game that I hit a curb slightly wrong I now have to turn right to go straight

But it does so many things so much better than every single other vehicle based game lol
Because it's only trying to be one thing
I have never heard a better analogy before, please turn that into a :command:
And it does it very well
The steering thing getting fucked up so easily is definitely annoying more than fun
Im not a car guy or even a sim racer guy, I just appreciate technology
@worn isle @molten bloom @queen galleon

But when I'm racing my gt3 car, I don't want to have to worry about losing some aero advantage because I hit the curb to aggressively and a bit of the splitter is damaged
its something that should be adjustable, if you literally wanna play like that go ahead but if a game only plays like that then
My dream racing game would be carmageddon done with the beam engine and made exclusively for vr and force feedback steering wheel setups, lol
In racing sims I think damage should be apart of it, not to the extent of beamng, but for pure realism more then it is now
Iracing is getting close
project cars was annoying like that the first time i played it at launch but i revisited it since and it's aight
I dunno how anyone plays gran tourismo with its wonky as fuck collision
It looks great untill a car hits anything at all
gt is goated wdym
There's a very fine line in having a good realistic physics while still keeping the game fun, and I've not seen a game on it yet
Then all semblance of realism and immersion goes out the window lol
like gts is still my fav simracer if you can ignore the grind
Iracing damage models on some non licensed cars is getting very good and realistic
the main thing thats garbage about GT is how they force you to play career mode and literally grind that shit
Yo Terik, I plan on starting some realistic hard surface modelling soon, think you can give me some pointers?
like i get you're supposed to represent how a driver's life would be but after doing it for 6 games straight i don't wanna do it all over anymore
I can't wait for the days when we have the computing power where when I crash my race car into the wall, to see bits of carbon fly off, oil and fuel on the track, bits of metal flying. Millions of polys
my gpu just started shivering by processing that comment
Watch some Josh gambrell, the very best info you can find on it will be from him
is it that half dead 1660
no, a new 1660
i remember you said you were gonna send the old one back and they did you a favor by giving you an underclocked new one ?
i mean, as long as you know its not gonna die on you any second i'd say its a W
not underclocked, a defect one, it's a 1660 super with the benchmark scores of a 1650
It goes into thermal throttle by keeping UE5 open for 30 minutes
I'm waiting for fluid sim to be possible casually in games
I want this in games
Tomorrow, is the day I welcome this beauty in my pc
The limiting factor eventually will sadly be the manufactures crying and saying no damage on my car in games
I want to see pools where the water actually is a volume of material that can be displaced literally
there is a game in works about that, i have followed it's progress for a while now
Rain that can actually pool up on the ground and flood in real-time
The one that looks like breath of the wild?

Hell I'd be happy with an open world game to acknowledge the goddamn tide existing
I've never seen any game simulate rising and lowering tides cuased by the moon
Perfect way to hide cool secrets in a game like skyrim too
I feel like that goes out of the scope of most games
Yeah
Imagine what you could get away with by having those two moons in the sky
You're asking for too much
It would be easy lol
Please explain how
Just move the ocean plane up and down with daytime I guess
You could do it with a script as a mod for almost any game. You just assign a maximum height and a minimum height for the water table and sync it with day and night cycle
Ooh talking about game design with no knowledge of game design
But I feel like that could be a detractor from other things in the game that a static ocean level would be a benefit to
I mean all an ocean is in games is a big ole plane with displacement and textures and shaders applied to it
In most games*
pretty much
Being a fantasy title, elder scrolls world could get away with so much fun stuff due to the moons existing as they are in the game world. You could even justify things like huge bulges in the ocean
Exactly, it's been neglected for far too long
Has it tho
Why change something that works perfectly already?
I think the gta 5 ocean is perfect
2013 game
Literally a plane with visible geo displacement
How is not being remotely close to reality perfect? Lol
Nice looking shaders on iy
Because it doesn't have to be real, it has to work and play good
Why do we want games to be a perfect recreation of reality
Thats like looking at copy pasta forests and saying "that's good enough"
The whole point of games is to escape realityb

Thats why I used elder scrolls as an example
You can use basic scientific principals as an excuse to justify crazy impossible things as well as deny them
Sea of Thieves water is literally just a flat plane being affected by displacements and shaders
The moon does crazy shit to the ocean you can't actually see unless it's from space
There are infinite ways to add to games, some being benefits to visuals and gameplay, but it gets to the point where you have to ask what is this adding, how much value is being provided from this feature and does it need to exist and would anyone care if it didn't
And scientifically speaking the sizes of the moons in elder scrolls and their orbit are impossible
And scientifically speaking, elder scrolls is not real
Still cool as fuck, thats why you could justify stuff like say a giant void in the ocean that exposes the sea floor and leading to a secret dungeon only happening during specific lunar allignments
Or you know, you can just use magic, or you know, they can just say physics work differently there, you don't need realism
This sounds like that one thing in the no man's sky beta testing where like time was real to the different plabets you travelled to and people thought it was a bug that it was like the same time when you got to a different planet or something when that was actually it working as intended
The laws of nature are at my will when I make a game, they can be whatever I want them to be
If it means my physics are nothing like real life to make a fun game, then so be it
That's why in beamng we had the node grabber
Optimal immersion isn't about being true to reality, just that there is an action and a reaction. It would just be silly if you did that for no reason, it would just feel stupid lol.
And we can fling cars into walls at 600mph
Attention to detail is nice and all, but 90% of the people won't ever notice the stuff you're talking about, nor care about them. They'll just see them, be like "eh, that's cool" and never see or care it about it ever again
Like those mw2 details videos
You go, huh, that's pretty neat
But when you're running around shooting peopel
You don't notice
A perfect example of what I'm getting at would be noita
heck, I didn't even know there are leaves falling out of bushed when you hit them with a car in GTA 5 till like a month ago
I want to see stuff like that in a 3d world. At least SOME of those sorts of Interactivity. That's a better way to describe it rather than accuracy
The finer the art, the more likely the best details go unnoticed or unappreciated by the majority, but it's the things they don't notice that often make it so magnificent.
That just sounds like a drain on dev time
Why focus on the things that majority won't notice rather then the the major things everyone notices
Oh it is, but it's a matter of why your doing it in the first place
If you want to truly innovate and push the state of the art forward, then your gonna have to be motivated by something more than a paycheck.
Becuase even if they don't notice them consciously, they still do subconsciously.
They might not be able to explain why the experience feels different, but if you sat down the average person and removed or added various small details you might be surprised what you find if you know how to ask them the right questions. Consciousness gets wierder the further you examine it, and as game visuals got more realistic they of course became more and more subtle. Alot of people can't even determine if raytracing is enabled or disabled, some will even prefer the one that lacks raytracing simply becuase it looks more familiar to what they are used to.
Some people actually DESPISE motion blur despite per object motion blur at high quality makes identifying movement vectors ALOT easier and more natural to determine.
So basing those decisions simply on if the majority notice then or not is a big mistake and a wasted opportunity imo
Did red dead 2 need dynamically retractable testicles on the male horses based on tempature of the enviroment they are in? Nope...but it sure as hell made an impact!
Most games actually avoid rendering genitals at ALL on animals despite the fact at this level of visual fidelity their absence becomes more halarious the more realistic they look
Aside from the memes of it being mentioned, I haven't seen it at all in my 400 hours of playing the game
Never really cared enough to look
And that's exactly my point
If it was removed I'd definitely be pissed about it, even though I'm not always on the search for horse testicles lol, and I'm not the only one
It adds to the whole package of making the world more believable by having a reaction to a stimuli
If you only play games from a competitive point of view, these sorts of things are probobly details you intentionally tune out becuase your hyper focused on the "game" part of the game, and thats fine, but for me personally, I enjoy gaming for the experience itself, and the more interactivity there is, even in the form of going to a warmer pr colder climate to just see if the balls get lower or higher, definitely adds to my overall experience.
nou
those kinds of games are rare to see these days
where you see something and it blows your mind
Back when quake 3 was new, I actually got into the competivie scene for a bit. I didn't play in tournaments but I could keep up with actual pros and not be completely destroyed. They were doing shit like forcing the game to use the same player model for every player becuase some models were harder to see than others yet all sharing the same hitbox, lowering their graphics to the ugliest it can appear for a statistical advantage in terms of latency, cranking up the gamma so there is no chance of missing a crucial detial in darkness....to me that goes against the entire experience of why I game.
We all game for different reasons, I guess is the ultimate point
Too true
csgo pros still play with 4:3 stretched
enemies just become fatter so they're easier to hit, you do lose the widescreen view but that's just so situational the advantage you get with 4:3 outweighs it
also that skin in warzone that people were abusing in dark areas lmao
If it gave them an advantage, i wonder if pro chess players would choose to play with pieces made from their own feces lmao
its almost like devs these days put those things in the game just to give an edge to the casuals
cuz like theres no way you have games that go through playtesting for months before the season comes out and no one notices
I watched a video about smash melee bugs that are an issue in competitive play yesterday
I had NO idea how deep that iceberg went
Some combos only being possible if your controller is plugged into a specific port and the opponents is in a specific port, with specific characters and on specific stages
the fgc pro scene for games where stick players are common is literally a competition of who has the better stick
mofos be swapping out the sanwas every 3 seconds, maintaining that shit like they're arthur morgan in red dead
https://youtu.be/rA8kpvTBh8Q this shit right here is mind blowing

We're you old enough to play starfox as a kid when it first came out?
Well this will blow your mind
Did you know the highest framerate the original starfox reaches is 20fps?
And that's only during the space missions
Without enemies on screen
Dude I know nothing of that shit but the game was banging
My memory of it as a kid didn't include anything about how "slow or unresponsive" it felt
But when I went back to play it on emulator as an adult I spent hours trying to figure out why it was running so shitth
It didn't feel like what I remembered at all
I think I was 14
Ibwas about 9 years old
I also had a pc that could run doom and even quake 1 at 30fps though, so I had a basis for comparison with 3d gaming
Hell descent was way more detailed than anything starfox had and ran at a much smoother rate
It still never crossed my detailed obsessed kid brain though
I did however notice how fucking awful the snes port of doom was
its funny because no one knew the notion of frame rate back then
so you just didnt care
I actually did becuaze I was lucky enough to have a pc tbat could run the games of the time
And I had to figure out what to do to get them running right
Shit was rough back in the days of dos
its like if you went to the arcades back then they all ran like shit but you just thought that was normal
You fucked something up you didn't see a graphical bug....it usually just crashed without any warning in the most terrifying way
Playing heretic as a kid of 9 years old, in the dark...alone...headphones.....
damn dos ?
Then all of sudden without any warning yiur hit with the ultimate jump scare
mofos had to type commands to play games
Only difference is when this happened the last second kof audio playing would loop
Untill you turned the pc off
That shit was so fucking scary as a kid lmao
its always funny to see that aesthetic they were going for with the character models back then
The way the huge text overlays ontop of the graphics....it was just....startling
Yup. I hae my own boot disk for gaming back then lol. Still restarted into Ms dos mode for gaming well past windows 95 cuz it ran better
i had this pepsi cd bag
this bad boy, had literally everything in here
games, windows xp installation discs, songs, that shit was like my bank
lowkey owning stuff like that was fun, you never worried about downloading or anything, you just pull them up plug them in and you're good to go
like these new laptops / PCs don't even have disc readers in them
Lol I still have a big binder full of burned disks
I still have huge stacks of em with pirated Games music and shit
No disk drive on my pc though....case doesn't even have a bay for it
burning disks is a lost art
I hate this
They make you buy a separate item for that now
i once had an argument with someone over it, their take was even if you pay for a sub like netflix / disney+ you don't have the right to use some 3rd party tools to download the episode and burn it to a disk

That is their argument
So I guess old computer games and shit just don’t matter

i always thought the entire argument for being against burning disks was dumb considering the definition of piracy is to distribute content illegally for others who havent purchased it, if i literally buy my shit i'm allowed to choose how i consume it
it's so dumb because of how hypocritical the same people get too, like not a single soul who uses an emulator like yuzu or rpcs3 actually bought those games, bought a jailbroken console to dump them, THEN used their pcs to emulate them
mofos don't realize that they're exposing themselves for being pirates while trying to put up that fake wall of righteousness lmfao
its like people who tell you emulators are legal, the argument was valid back when you could plug a disc inside your pc and dump them like that, not anymore tho, i just hope people were honest with themselves about it all and actually got to a healthy reasonable conclusion
indeed. back when the original crysis came out, that was right when digital distibution was still more annoying than conveniant, and it was literally easier and faster to pirate a game than it was to buy it legit on pc, and for YEARS i didnt buy ANY games, not even thinking twice about it....then fast forward to the release of crysis 2 where they were forced to go multiplatform due to insane levels of piracy, it basically killed single player games that were made exclusive for the pc.
just comparing crysis 2 to 1 is heart breaking. once that happened, i never pirated a pc game again. the only reason im using the switch emulator and some roms is because a friend of mine uploaded it to his google thingy. ill never be able to justify buying a switch personally, especially since the controllers are garanteed to break, so in this specific instance i was able to morally justify it for myself personally
but its very true, everyone that cares about gaming needs to be aware that their actions do have consequences
back in 2006 i was justifying spending nearly 3 grand on a gaming pc then pirating every fucking game and thinking "everyone else is doing it and everything is still fine, so fuck it"
never again though
sometimes gore in red dead 2 is pretty impressive
this dude still has the bottom front teeth!
and his tongue is dangling .....that seems very anatomically correct.....i wonder if someone had to study some horrible photo libraries in a medical journal or something to do this
i bet if you tried to post that on facebook it would flag it IMMEDIATLY as offensive
some gus fring scene shit
yeah like me personally i genuinely don't care about people's actions, like i've never been one to shit talk someone for piracy but with the recent explosion in the popularity of emulators it's so annoying to see these self righteous hypocrites try to pretend and push the narrative that what they're doing is legal, it's like you're either with or against it, if you're committing it yourself and blaming others for it you're just an idiot lmao
if everyone thought about their own accountability than the whole "everyone else is doing it" would literally be negated
it would actaully make the world a better place
true
i just always thought the entire situation was dumb, especially the lawmakers and people like nintendo especially
its something thats not really brought up enough but knowing WHY your making a decision on a personal level is very important. i think alot of people arent even aware of the true reasons they do most things, they just do whats most conveniant for them and dont realize they are justifying terrible things for purely selfish reasons
like you got these clowns saying they're all for conserving games and at the same time trying to shut down emulators, like do you actually expect people in 60 years to pay 3k for an ancient console and a disc ?
I honestly think Emulators are amazing tools used by wrong people
its like those people who try to sell old arcade games for 10k
EXACTLY
@worn isle @molten bloom @novel locust
@worn isle @molten bloom @queen galleon

Emulation is the only way to preserve old games and sadly, that does include piracy for some of them. I wish they would've gotten an official port of some kind to pc or being made into the free domain instead
everyone's like oh no piracy is bad but then they download a rom and use an emulator like they're not committing it themselves ? then when you confront them about it and explain it their brains shut down, like bro we get it no one's gonna go buy a game from ebay from 2001 but we need to all universally agree it's the only way as opposed to these game companies allowing you to download digital versions of their games for the future, as well as offer these emulators themselves
it literally has to be piracy for anything that came out after the ps2, and even then theres games you just can't find anymore, i dont get why people try to sugar cone this fact and run away from it
You'd be shocked to see the number of times people awnser the question "what is it that you like about this specifically and why" with " uh, i dont know i just like it". I literally don't understand how that's possible other than literally not being aware of something very fundamental about your identity. To me that sounds like a nightmare
most of them will straight up just lie to you
I'd love to get into emulation but the fact that I would need to pirate them is kinda keeping from doing it
like theres mofos that are so deep into the lie they'll tell you they were the ones who dumped those games
(which like i always say, is still illegal)
I avoid it cuz I don't know of any trustworthy sources, too risky these days unless you know where to go
If one of my friends has already done that part though and it's something thats never gonna be ported to pc, that's the only time I mess with em.
i think what companies should do is allow you to download digital versions of your games if you buy them, and after a while (say 15 years) release an emulator themselves
I'm always aware of what I'm doing isn't legal and why it's wrong though
like for example you log into the nintendo site online, you go to your purchases tab and you can just download any game you bought from there, that way they ensure the console is still gonna sell BUT future generations can always just replay those games and it'll all be legal
If I ever had the ability to purchase it legally I'd just do that. Hell it's worth it just for peace of mind for several reasons
Yeah, it's not like Nintendo is competing with the pc market
I'm hoping Sony realizes the potential making their psvr 2 setup work with pc would be like selling a console to the pc playerbase
Re-Volt actually did this, they've actually made the game free, and they recently re-released the game on steam, though at a price
The hardware already serves the same purpose as a console, just one that requires a pc
A whole market just waiting to be tapped basically and would open the door for more legit Sony ports.
i remember someone from the community had to step up and make the first one work with PC
its fucked up when companies do this
It would be in there interest and there's no reason why it shouldn't work with pc
its the same with some racing wheels, the ones that'll only work for consoles and not PC, or the ones that don't work between generations, i don't get why they dont just make a standard like xinput and have it work across everything, they treat them like controllers but like bruh i dont wanna buy 2 wheels one for GTS and the other for forza
the world is so advanced yet theres so much dumb shit like this that's literally primal
I can't stop fixating on thr cloth physics on red dead 2...why the fuck did the cap the fps for the cloth physics at 30fps!? It makes all cloth physics look like they are under a strobelight or stop motion when the games running at 60 fps
Most games lock physics at 30fps since most things can run at least 30fps
so i was doing testing of input latency on smash bros ultimate on pc, and discovered regardless of settings, doesnt matter how good your performance is, you cant get anything lower than 16.66ms input latency, which is literally equal to 60fps mathematically. shit gets complicated from there but disabling vsync didnt even affect it becuase the game is hard coded to never go above 60
the only developers that even target 30fps at all are console developers lol
on pc, 30fps is usually becuase of two scenarios. 1.something is broken, and 2,i hate being poor/broke
Name a better game than Genshin impact.
fuckin, a pre-alpha version of cyberpunk 2077 is most likely better
hi
Was it bad
Yes
I had to emulatte the old GOW games
Gotham knights
hi I'm god of war
I really don't what happened that day but that looks... I don't know what even say.
@charred gust Control 2
the initial budget for development is 50 million euros, never in my life did I think it would cost so much to develop a video game.
Everything is becoming more expensive lol
Bros chillin
5 feet apart
Stop 💀
you'd be surprised how cheap 50 million euros sounds to some other games costs
For example, Star Citizen has so far cost 400 million USD and the scam game is still far from being finished
You tell me that DL2 cost 100 million and I don't believe it.
@molten bloom @novel locust
Yeah, DL2 was cheaper than 50 I think, but seeing as they never released a number, we can only estimate

if we don't count Star Citizen since this game is still not released, Cyberpunk was the game with the highest budget, costing around 316 million usd, 142 million being just for marketing
142 million for marketing???
yeeeeeep
Wtf did they invest to
overhyping the game
Golden Cyberpunk statues?

@fleet gulch You're talking about Star Citizen, a Microsoft game, which has Bill Gates as president who has a fortune per clock seconds, so that game doesn't count.
