True but something like invasions in elden ring by an ai ultimately still follow the “react to movesets.” feeling more than a legitimate player, but this leads back to why I disagree with Jpik, I think every single encounter in every single game is just a reaction to movesets, some games just do it more so/do it harder than others

The same can be said about a game like for honor, although it doesn’t follow a linear path like some fromsoft games you still will ultimately react accordingly through skill to whatever the player does, it’s still using basic skills everyone can learn, I think every aspect of every game can be learned and mastered by everyone given enough time.

Ok then sifu's Normal mode/the game on launch. That game requires fast reaction times and completely turned some people off to the game because of how unreactable the game was for them at some times. Because it genuinely was requiring reaction times from people that couldn't just be acquired through practice.

This is different to say, elden ring because there's nothing in elden ring too quick that someone with even below average reaction times can't learn

But you ultimately made it through elden ring didn't you? That's what I was talking about in my earlier messages. Im not saying there's no skill gap between players. Nothing even close to that. Just that any type of player can play a fs game from start to finish. Again it could take my grandma 500 tries to beat Margit, wheras it took me 3. But my point is is that we were both able to do it, and neither of us needed a skill going into the boss that the boss wouldn't have teached us just by playing.

That's different to a game like sifu where someone with below average reaction time literally just won't be able to get through some parts of it because of the reaction time being required of the player is lower than what they are physically capable of.

It's why sifu needed an easy mode (even though it was implemented terribly) and why elden ring doesn't. One game requires a necessary skill that is not learnable through just playing and the other doesn't

I still disagree, if someone doesn't have the necessary reactions for some attacks they can still get through the game through other means. Unless it's a very simplistic game like "in order to win you need to press spacebar within 250ms of the red light turning green". And EVEN then, you can just try to predict (which is what a lot of professional athletes do and get disqualified because they "reacted too fast")
