Ok so now this is mainly how the game works rather than abilities I’d say

IMO there aren’t any cons it mainly depends on your kind of follower you want like how they interact etc

Skyrim’s enemies level with you , some level faster than other and some have a max amount they will level, I think giants follow your level till like 25-30 then they are easy to kill after that

Dragon priests are ALWAYS above you

The second you spawn in at lvl 1 they are already like lvl 80 or something

Wholesome follower that is good

Until you put level him and everything gets stronger while he stays the same

He will begin to die a lot at that point

As you can imagine though, serana, like the player has no level cap

She will level with you forever basically so will never get left behind our outplayed by enemies

And then you have the idea of ‘essential npcs’

Some npcs are important to a major quest like or cannot be killed for… reasons

Serana is part of a massive quest but after the quest she still stays with you if you choose

And even after the quest she is still essential so basically, even if she was naked she would go to 1 health and stop fighting, slowly regen health until she can fight again
