The colors of the weapons' just indicate their "rarities", that's all. With Orange and Gold both being LEGENDARY, albeit depends on your Survivor's Legend Level. The higher your rank, the more often you're gonna stumbled across one, eventually you can just find one your desired (as you stated above) weapon that you'd want in the shop. Or, just play multiplayer and hopefully you can find someone kind enough to give you their shotgun...

It requires a new save. Farm to get survivor level up to 24-25, but keep your power level below 5. Around 2 is the best. Then you farm the traders for guns. Once you have the guns you want, get a friend to hold them for you while you switch to your main save. Those firearms then get the legend buffs.

Firearms lose damage the higher your power level is.

Use the Grapple ability from the Agility tree. It can knock them down, then you can repeatedly bonk their head while they are down.

Well, it's devoid of parkour, iirc, but it is a zombie survival simulation. There isn't one main character. You switch between whichever character you want. They can get exhausted, they have different skills, you can find new characters, characters can die and you'll have to kill their zombified self to get their loot back, iirc.

Play those red icon zone thingies for stuff like drops and resources. I would say majority relies on game experience which you will gain as you play more.
If you need weapons etc either:

1. Rob the shit out of anything and everyone to buy at shops. Weapon colour only signifies rarity and price. Higher it is the more repair slots the weapon has. Damage is unaffected last I checked.

2. Play prison DLC. However solo it is difficult unless you know the route, what enemies you can skip etc. I recommend it with things like night hunter booster, proper firearms and melee weapons alongside getting a good understanding of how to lockpick. If you're lazy I think there's a mod that makes all lockpicking easy because you just need to hold D and it unlocks.

3. Put your game on public. People can join and play with you, however the risk will be MODDERS. Some are malicious and can reset your story (From rumours, I have never encountered them) or that they can give you items. Some may drop OP modded weapons which can make gameplay too easy or 9999x stacks of alcohol, gauze etc.

4. Find someone on the discord to play with.

Hey all. I got the game a while back and decided to replay it fresh to finish the campaign and all. I recently made the switch to Linux and installed the game on my Steam Deck and on Desktop. Despite using a fresh save, none of my achievements are unlocking properly. For example:

iirc, there is actually a safezone in Old Town in which you can use weapons. A balcony on some building—it's where you end up when you arrive at Old Town for the first time. You can safely shoot at volatiles from there and they won't even spit at you or be able to approach you, I think.
