There's this movie called The Night Eats The World about this guy in France holed up in an apartment block - featuring silent zombies. It. Is. TERRIFYING!!
The plan is to make for a much creepier, tense experience when looting. You never know what's behind you.

Finished making it. ☺️ took a little while to find all the sounds because hordes have several different sound effects, I wanted to disable horde sounds too. It’s pretty damn scary! 🫣
It makes Harran feel like a truly dead place (I know they’re technically not dead). The atmosphere is so dread-filled now. Other zombie types still make sound, but I wanted the Biters to seem as devoid of life as possible.
Zombies creeping up on you while lockpicking, when you’re sneaking around at night, it’s terrifying.
I’ve also disabled the Volatile spotting sound. Way more immersive and creepy.
Also removed the silly digital echo sound that plays when you do a charged attack on an enemy. Now it’s just pure weapon-to-head thuds, not a dramatic echo noise.
Oh, and the sound Virals make when they spawn in the world, such as after you cause an explosion and you hear them smashing a door down in the distance. It’s cool at first but boring once you’ve heard it 100 times. Now they just sprint at you screaming, way more unexpected.
