my best answer would be to firstly grab a good amount of safe zones, if your forced to travel at night you will have a much easier time running to safety with them unlocked.
I suggest doing "what lurks beyond the pines" asap as it gives you two beginner manuals and its pretty easy, this can help you level things faster giving you 1shot throwing knives or legend heals.
"the cable guy" is another great quest as it gives you access to remote control traps

if you are not too good at the game, get the heavy armor set so you can afford to take more dmg without dying, if you have enough skill and knowledge on how to do so, avoid heavy armor and use armor that boosts 1 handed or 2 handed combat (whichever you like but i suggest 2 hand for crowd control)
