the beast doesn't really retcon any world building that dl2 set up, and it is stated that there are places outside of villedor that exist, but the aesthetic of castor woods just doesn't mesh too well with what we see in dl2.

in dying light 2, they explain that 98% of humanity has died, becoming either zombies or just outright dead. and whatever alcoves are still around are dying out. they call villedor the "last city standing", largely thanks to its walls which were put up to try and contain the virus, ironically becoming the city's surviving grace.

in the beast, there are a handful of scrapped together weapon models, but most of them are pre-fall appearing, a basic machete or axe, etc. whereas in dl2 many weapons were scrapped together, post-fall. like a street sign being used as an axe head and such (many pre-fall weapons are found in military convoys locked away). and many of the clothing of the denizens of villedor wore more "medieval" inspired/looking clothes. dl2 was very clearly a "dark medieval" inspired game with the art direction likewise being inspired by such. of course, it wasn't a 1:1, and factions like the peacekeepers were more clad in more modern looking army attire.

you can explain this as more of the beast taking place in the alps and different geographical regions having different progresses or regresses of technology and such, but i personally really liked more of dl2's aesthetic and style and general art and world building direction that the beast doesn't have. in fact this was one of the reasons i said it looked like it would be set before the events of 2.

as i said it's not bad by any means, but i think the direction of 2's world building was more interesting and unique compared to the beast's.

that isn't really the world building i was referring to. but also i don't really have any real opinion on the map size vs actual map size. a bit annoying, but also i think the size of the game already is a bit too big.

personally though i do dislike the lack of an actual second section/map that dl1 and 2 have, being old town/sector zero and the central loop.

i wonder if the map was actually meant to be bigger, but was cut for the deadline of release. because you can see some parts of the outer map, like crystal lake(?) but you can't actually get to it.

dl1 is far more modern and it isn't a full on, planetary apocalypse. you still have civilization existing, you even have planes dropping down air drops of supplies, medicines, weapons, etc.

dl2 is far more "medieval" due to how 98% of the planet (at least humanity) is wiped out, turned into zombies or just outright dead. they don't have that much in the way of support outside of villedor, which is nicknamed as "the last city standing".

were dl2 to take place in a similar context as dl1, i'd agree. but dl2 is purposefully far removed from the contexts of dl1, so the art direction makes a more logical jump and conclusion that fits the world building set.

The story was the main part that always lacked in all dl games. Techland nailed it this time and there were so many plot twists, that's what makes it more amazing. And i loved how they put emphasis on so many characters instead of only a few of them.

Yeah, that happens cuz the frames you see in framegen are integrated ofa estimated and generated frame which is integrated within the architecture of the gpu that are pushed btw 2 consequent frames which are processed by the cpu and sent to the gpu for rendering.

That's why you sometimes may face ghosting while motion due to inaccurate vector calculations which usually happen either when your vram overflows and the game has to load the necessary data into the shared system ram Or the page file i.e. your storage drives, or you could be that your cpu is bottlenecking.

That mostly happens though when the fps are below 60-70 even with framegen on in most cases due to cpu bottlenecking and not able to load and process the geometry, physics of objects and noc's, compile the shaders and send them to the gpu for execution and process and transmit the frames to the gpu at the same time due to overload, that's when you usually see ghosting and artifacts especially while being mobile or during movements as the Input latency btw the frames and the input is already more due to Framegen as there is some input delay btw the processing of the current frames and the ofa to estimate and push new frames btw consequent frames.

So, if you fps go below even 60 fps, then the latency probably goes upto 30ms or more so, compared to the normal 16.6 ms which causes the frames to cause a distortion or artifact like effect.

It's also possible though that the game's api is not very properly optimised for framegen and it might just be executing shaders inefficiently.

I would recommend lowering cou intensive settings like distance scaling, shadows for lowering some gpu load with minimal visual differences.
I guess only these 2 settings are there which you can edit ingame without config

Depends on how its worded honestly. The game does lack content, but with the context of it being started out as a DLC, I can understand why. And it was specially crafted even with each building having little details. Ill Def say my opinion is the main story is gripping and fantastic, but I couldnt get enough.
