but in the US, that doesnt happen, cause you have a "the winner takes it all" system. where everything that isnt the majority in a sector, gets thrown out, making small parties impossible pretty much

Every other democratic exercise that became pseudo-second referendums shows a majority support of remain parties or confirmatory referendum parties. The council elections, the European Parliament elections, and the 2019 General Election, etc. But because of the system we have, the Conservatives not only won but they won a rather sweeping majority. So now they get to wave about their "mandate" while actually having a minority of the British people behind them.
