To be fair, if you mess with the bios in the wrong way you could mess with your computer badly. He probably saw some general warning like this and got scared off.

I'm finally going to make a NAS/server for my house
I got a tiny case I can cram 4-6 drives in (depending on size) and a mini itx board on the way, along with a 1U flex atx PSU and a noctua fan to mod it with so it doesn't sound like a leaf blower
Only thing left to decide is if I should try to find a board and CPU to put in it now or wait until fall. I'm hoping to upgrade my desktop then and I could just put my old setup in this case if I got a different CPU cooler
It's mostly going to be storage but I want it to do hardware transcoding for a media server and if it has enough oomph to run some simple stuff in containers that'd be handy
I was looking at getting a board with a BGA mounted Atom for it but those are either $$$ for 10 year old tech that doesn't support HEVC or $$$$ and unavailable for more modern stuff

Well I want to use ZFS which can be CPU hungry, some of the transcoding might end up being done on the CPU, and I do want to eventually put stuff on there instead of relying on having a router with OpenWRT
