@upper stump the way block data is stored in a bit format in memory. the structure doesnt perfectly align on the byte level to the block size, so when the structure filled up, data would cross over 2 blocks and the code would have to assemble it back together. they changed it to skip the last remaining bytes and move to the next block which greatly simplifies put and get operations by reducing the complexity of the op codes
