@serene bolt having made Skyrim mods I can tell you its a nightmare, Dirty edits (including dirty edits in the official DLC) are gross, the creation kit crashes constantly, proper mod order is basically black magic (people have made tools to automate it for users which is better than nothing), the scripting language blows and has silly limitations, silly limitations on what mods can do in engine (skyrim script extender fixes a lot of this), mods permanently save scripts into the world even if you uninstall them (and scripts are tied to entities so they will execute even when the mod is gone, also Oblivion/Morrowind did not save scripts into the world, why they chose to do this with Skyrim is beyond me). and many other problems
