IRC is a chat protocol, people can setup their own servers and can use any client that supports that protocol

(unlike discord where your only choice is to not use it)

If you're getting on IRC from a website unless it's one of a small handful that do that as a general service it's probably locked into a single network and/or channel

I mean, most web-client-services nowadays offer the ability to connect to other networks

IRC isn't widespread enough anymore for it to be used on random sites as chat rooms

most use some support chat software or discord/slack/gitter directly

i was looking at KVM switches which do keyboard video mouse (hence kvm) but I have 3 monitors and I can't find any that are cheap (found one for like 800 US) that have 3 video inputs for 3 PCs as well as generous USB output :/

Anyone got any ideas for how to learn to cope with noisy upstairs neighbors? Every loud thump and random bowling ball rolling, or whatever the fuck they're doing up there, gets me super "on edge". It stresses me out and I can't concentrate, and nothing seems to really shut it out, because it permeates through the walls and floor. I think part of the noise comes from them just slamming their cupboards shut instead of closing them normally like sane people do.

I'm pretty sure I'm just hypersensitive to noise, and if I went up there to complain they'd just be like "sucks to be you, we can't tiptoe around our own home, deal with it".
