If I wanted to be straight up with you I'd say yes game playability on Linux is much better then it used to be and it is possible it is not a native experience and requires a hell of a lot more setup then the tap and play ease of windows.

At least on Linux you don't get the bad minecraft performance caused by display_update if you have bad or outdated video card drivers like you get on windows, but you get other issues like screen tearing in some cases
