I'm kind of an absolute noob when it comes to system administration. I have set up a wifi hotspot on linux following some stupid tutorial and I'm currently trying to drop all packets on a specific port. This hotspot internet forwarding setup works so well that the linux machine loses its connection when it forwards to the connected devices... but it doesn't matter, good enough for me. I have some br0 bridge interface, and I forward from eth0 to wlan0. Nevermind, so I have some iptables rules in the input, forward and output chains to drop DROP stuff on that specific destination or source port. The issue is it doesn't work at all. What could I be doing wrong? (The default target is ACCEPT, there are no other rules)

I don't personally like it when listeners can subscribe to arbitrary points in event hierarchies. It's a nice idea at first glance because we tend to like the idea of reuse and abstraction, but consider listening for just the top-level Event, or PlayerEvent. I suppose it can make sense for like, logging/audit, but I don't see many applications where you don't have to check subtypes eventually anyway. Hierarchies are generally brittle in terms of change and cross type mixing. Just take EntityExplodeEvent which got split into "itself" and BlockExplodeEvent. It made sense to have a parent ExplodeEvent, but also EntityEvent and BlockEvent.

cat, I like the flat approach where you have to subscribe to the specific event you are interested in. It makes everything straightforward and also promotes code reuse via composition rather than inheritance. It can be really annoying in some cases because you need more boilerplate, which can be really tedious if you ever need to change it. But maybe that's okay? Some things should be easy to change for the sake of velocity and extensibility, but some things should be difficult to change - if only because it is a tradeoff and sometimes you have to pick an axis to lock down :P

Printing the event name gives you the full event, and then you get some extra details like the player or block involved. Whilst not containing everything, it logs most of the things you need to investigate further

Having trouble with zombie pigmen aggro. Someone made a zombie pigman farm on the server, but the once the first "wave" is dead, the second "wave" of spawns that spawn in don't auto-aggro, and when they hit the pigman again they dont aggro yet again. Have to leave the chunk to reset them.

Could this be due to paper?
