I tried to change the query_port but each time it gives me apostrophes around the port and I can't remove them. They come back on their own.

outside of that, waterfall literally does not touch the config in a manner that could cause that, and most issues like that are generally down to stuff messing with the config on the hosts side

soo our proxy has been acting up allot since we've just (minutes ago) updated to the latest dev build of waterfall. Plugins give errors like this and we are running java17 and you cannot connect. Any clue?

but, "optimised" is a massive misnomer as it varies depending on many dozen factors
(with modern MC, I've heard some people have better experience just disabling it, but 🤷♂️ )

like the fac server is hosted in texas and the bungee is hosted in NYC
but still both in NA

so they're probably not in the same datacenter

Hello there, just updated waterfall from 1.18.2 to latest 1.19 build without changing anything in configs and we can't connect to servers now : Kicked whilst connecting to [name of the server]: Unable to authenticate.
In their case their backend is halfway across the country
There is no magical number, it can vary on many factors but for high speed connections, compressing to decompress is generally pointless
it's only really slower connections where it makes sense, and the advent of decent connections often makes mojangs slow compression the biggest bottleneck, but, it varies
I keep getting this error when connecting to a certain area of a server. Only when my client is on 1.19 and it fully disconnects me from the server.

you are free to integrate velocity's full network/packet handling into bungee or put the bungee api on top of velocity (which is what Snap does)
And when it happens and some guy opens an issue on github, the answer is "not a velocity issue, use a firewall" literaly.

you cannot use the .chat method with 1.19
as the server can't sign the chat with the player's key as that is unknown
(imo there should be a way added to force the sending of an usigned message but there isn't yet afaik)

if your goal is to send a message to the minecraft server like the player would then there is no way (besides not using 1.19 I guess)

Don’t ping staff directly. The latest version of waterfall supports 1.8-1.19 which includes 1.16 so there’s no reason to run an ancient revision
Waterfall is like bungeecord on a rolling release system. Once a new revision releases there isn’t any more support for older revisions.
If you’re absolutely set on running an old revision from the 1.16 days you need to be aware that this version doesn’t have fixes for critical issues like the log4j bug so we highly advise against it

i uploaded plugins like pistonmotd, skinrestorer to all my servers
they all loaded but nothing happens, after restarts too
after typing /skin nothing happens
skinrestorer relies on the tablist rewriting mess which you can enable in waterfall.yml
enable ping passthrough if you want the server to respond to pings
I mea, if the plugin is installed on the backend server, am not sure if that matters

Bungee (and current velocity builds) don't handle the chat registry at all, and rely on the vanilla servers registry IDs for over the pipe for stuff
the release build of via broke that expectation and thus causes issues
via, in the dev builds, uses a more "correct" registry now, which fixes that issue

The proxy can't open a connection to the actual backend server, such things are often setup issues, if ptero, see pins, of same machine (and not using containers), use localhost, if using a host, speak to them

hello. Im having a very weird issue that when u login to my network. I can login to hubs fine but any other server connected to my bungeecord. It shows im connecting then getting sent back to the hub in bungee console but nothing about my trying to connect in my other server and its just keeping my in the hub

Connecting to the server directly has normal ping but when connecting with waterfall all of my players and I get up to 2000 ping
